Is there any SEO benefit for links shared in Facebook feeds or wall posts?
-
the question on what scale it has to be done....
-
"Any SEO benefit"? Yes. Enough to make it a top priority in the grander scheme of a comprehensive SEO campaign? No.

I would treat social links with a fair amount of caution and avoid getting caught up in the hype. While there have been a lot of great tests that clearly show some type of pattern - none of them have been scientific. Google mentioned that they look at social signals (but quite possibly, for the most part, on /realtime search) and Bing did openly admit they take them into account for web rankings. However the extent is not clear.
My advice is to embrace social media platforms for what they are and what they can achieve outside of SEO. In other words, stick to traditional link building strategies for the most part. However I would also advise to keep a very keen eye on social signal development.
My personal opinion is that there are holes in a lot of the signals Google use already. Why create thousands more by adopting social signals into the algo?
Despite my abundant skepticism, I'm sure that social signals will become very influential in the not too distant future.

If you can get links from Facebook Fan pages and Businesses then they are easily indexable and will show up in G Webmaster Tools
-
Yes, as Google itself (and Bing) told to Danny Sullivan in an interview that I strongly suggest you to read: http://searchengineland.com/what-social-signals-do-google-bing-really-count-55389
-
Yes, in fact I have heard the new "caffeine" algorithm google uses favors social network links. Even if the link is no-followed, the link juice will still flow.

In my experience it really depends on the user is sharing the information and their Facebook privacy settings. If the user has everything open to the world, then it stands to reason that a Google bot will see these as well. Google has stated that Facebook and other social media sites have been given more weight to their organic rankings, but it is hard to say how much. Either way, I strongly suspect that this trend will continue.
ALSO, Google does rank the influence of the user sharing the post. If a user has a lot of 'trust' then that share will be worth a lot more than say a new Facebook user. Something to keep in mind.

Anyone Care to Share Some SEO Tricks for Competitive Industries?
[Insert word "hack" if you prefer that, but it's so overused that I'm using "trick" instead] I've been doing SEO for ten years, and I'm pretty good at covering my bases. For the client I'm seeking help with, here's what we're doing: strong and regular onsite keyword optimized content (both long tail and competitive keyphrases), good local SEO, high-quality guest posting on relevant local news sites and blogs, heavy community involvement and support, scholarships and sponsorships, lots of videos, all the social media, tons of competitive research and link building, ongoing website architecture analysis and tweaking, a systematized process for getting reviews, onsite chat, Google Search Ads, etc. This client has been around for years in a very competitive industry in a medium-sized American city. We do alright in the local pack for certain search terms, but overall his rankings are not good. For anyone who works in a super competitive industry, do you have any tricks you'd be willing to share? I don't want to steal your secrets, but I could use some advice. Thank you!

Archiving Blog Posts To Another Category Changes Permalink But Does It Affect SEO?
I'm launching a website that will give daily updates. The /daily/ category needs to be kept clear for the current day updates only, so each day I will be archiving the previous days updates to another folder, for example: /archive/. Each morning, when I archive the previous days post... the system will 301 the current url from /daily/ to /archive/ and the sitemap will be updated to reflect the change. What I am concerned about is my site will be packed with 301's and the information is more important on the day so I would expect the majority of backlinks + social shares will be to the /daily/ category url and visitors will be 301'd to the new url. How would this affect my SEO and is there a cleaner way to do this so?

ECommerce website with link to manufactures site for ordering - Should these links be follow or no follow?
Dear Mozzers, I have a couple of questions regarding link juice and whether I should have do follow or no follow links ? We have an affiliate eCommerce website and on our product pages we have a "Order online " button which will go our subdomain on the manufactures site in order for the user to complete the online ordering process So it's - www.ourcompany.co.uk - "Order Online Button" - www.manufactuer.ourcompany.co.uk Should this " Order online Button" be a Follow or No Follow link ? I ask this as currently from looking at Majestic seo , these "order online " buttons on my product pages seems to be Follow links so am I losing potential link juice by sending it externally ? Am I correct in assuming by changing it to be no follows, I would increase the link juice going elsewhere internally? thanks Pete
