How to Optimize With Wordpress SEO Plugin YOAST?
-
Hi Everyone,
I am currently using Moz's page optimization format to improve our website's SEO. https://mathandmovement.com/
This is the format, these are all of the areas that we need to improve for each of our website's pages, according to Moz.
include 3 keywords max:
<url>www.mysite.com/my-keyword-phrase</url>
<page title="">2 keywords max <title>Primary Keyword - Secondary Keyword - Brand</title></page>
2 keywords max:
keywords in my headers
2 keywords max:
keywords in my headers
![keyword](image file)
<focus keyword="">1 with YOAST</focus>
We are currently using the free version of YOAST for our SEO. My question to you is this, will our pages still have good SEO if we use appropriate keywords (high monthly volume, below 40 difficulty ranking, High Organic CTR,) and put them in the format above? Or since the free version of YOAST only let's us optimize 1 keyword, will we still rank for the other two/three that we put in our meta and page titles/h1s, h2s, urls, and overall paragraph text?
Please also let us know what we can do to improve our SEO!
Thanks so much,
Emma

Hi Emnma,
Yoast does not do seo for you. It gives guidelines to follow. When you insert a keyword in the keyword slot, the software only matches the seo suggestions based on the keyword. If you want to check 3 keywords. Change the keyword you put in the keyword box.
Those keywords are not added to meta data or anything like that. The upgrade of the plugin gives you a couple extra perks, but all the main stuff is available for free! Being able to add 5 keywords to optimize for allows you to see how your content matches up. You will have multiple keywords that do not get a green light and they shouldn't
The other advice big advice i can give you is do not optimize your content for green lights. If you are trying to optimize for green lights much of your content will not be organic. It will be produced to meet the minimum requirements to get the green lights. Here is an interesting article by yoast on it https://yoast.com/want-green-bullet-wp-seo/
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi Emma,
I'd highly recommend you do the new free SEO course that the team at Yoast has just released: https://yoast.com/academy/course/free-seo-course-seo-for-beginners/
It'll help you understand both SEO and the plugin a lot better.
In my opinion, the premium plugin is worth getting. Yoast typically has a number of sales on it throughout the year, so you can pick it up a bit cheaper.
Good luck!

SEO on dynamic website
Hi. I am hoping you can advise. I have a client in one of my training groups and their site is a golf booking engine where all pages are dynamically created based on parameters used in their website search. They want to know what is the best thing to do for SEO. They have some landing pages that Google can see but there is only a small bit of text at the top and the rest of the page is dynamically created. I have advised that they should create landing pages for each of their locations and clubs and use canonicals to handle what Google indexes. Is this the right advice or should they noindex? Thanks S

Seo for international sites
Hello, I have a question for the group, our main US site- http://www.datacard.com is utilized to move content to other regional sites like http://www.datacard.co.uk/ and http://www.datacard.fr/ and http://www.datacard.com.br/. Anyhow, we essentially have some regional content on those sites, but for ease of maintaining and updating the content we have a company translate this for us and then undergo an in country review for local people in our company to review the content. That being said the meta descriptions, titles, code, everything gets translated to that language. I know there are issue for SEO for these purposes as we get much better rankings with http://www.datacard.com. The regional sites are newer so this could be part of it. We don't have an agency helping us with SEo and i get a lot of questions on what can be done internally for this for regional sites with our current structure. Any tips you have? It would be greatly appreciated! Laura

Wordpress Comments Pagination
Hi Mozzers What is your view on the following. Should you Paginate comments to increase page speed? If yes, at what # of comments would you begin pagination? (with the objective being decreasing page load times) Apply rel="canonical" back to the main article URL? eg: url/comment-page-1 => url noindex the comment pages? create a "View all" comments page? Thanks in advance for your help! 🙂

Updated Wordpress version and installed SEO plugin, ranking went down
Last week, we updated our Wordpress version to the most recent version, and installed the SEO plugin. Our rankings immediately went down from #9 to #19. Is this normal? Will our rankings improve once the search engines crawl our site in the next couple weeks? Any feedback is helpful!

Link masking in WordPress
in Wordpress, I want to block Google from crawling my site using the primary navigation. I want to use anchor text links in the body and custom menus in the sidebar to make maximum benefit of the "first link counts" rule. In short, I want to obfuscate all of the links in my primary navigation without using the dreaded nofollow. I do not want to block other links to the pages - body text, custom menus, etc. . This would be site wide. I'd rather not use Ajax or any type of programming unless it's part of a plugin. Can anyone make a simple, Google-friendly suggestion?

# element above Menu - Is there any SEO Value to it
Is there any Value to having the H1 element above the MENU in a Typical Application ? My intention is to tell the "Bot" that the H1 element is more important than the Menu Items . Are there any examples of such sites . The closest that I have seen is (NOT MY SITES) http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/ and http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/cheap-flights/from-dallas-texas/1531/?airport_code=dfw&depsub=1&c2calert=0&deal_alert=0&from_hp=true Here they (second link) they have H1 above the Bread Crumb ( they dont have any menu though).

SEO Provider
At the risk of opening the flood gates, I'm posting this in hopes of finding a SEO provider on this site. I'm currently a member, and have learned a lot through this site, but I'm still having issues ranking higher. Because of this, I have come to the conclusion that I need a dedicated SEO company/professional who can help our company reach the next level. I'm open to suggestions of companies that you have used, or please feel free to throw your hat into the ring. Thanks in advance! AW

URL Shorteners. Are they SEO Friendly?
Do URL shortener services like bit.ly act as 301 redirects? I was thinking about utilizing one for longer query based URLs and didn't want to risk losing link juice. Thanks for the insight! Regards - Kyle
