How i rank in Latin America and Spain?
-
Hi everyone!
I need to rank my site with Spanish content in Latin America and Spain. Do I choose a neutral Spanish to try to rank in every country or make content for each country? If you choose a neutral Spanish, which is the most indicated (Spain, Colombia, Mexico, other)?

Hi Ewerton,
I choosed spanish from Spain because I'm from Spain and my clients are from here, and they want better results for Spain than for other countries in Latin America. Some projects with this conditions have ranked well also in many countries in Latin America.
In my opinion you should choose the spanish version of the country in which you prefer better positioning, the one you have. And if you want to rank better in other countries you have to get links from those countries.
I mean, if you want to rank better in Spain, try to get good quality backlinks of your niche that are from Spain, specially those with .es and also .cat (Catalonia domain), but focus specially on .es domains or .com domains that you see that correspond to spanish people.
The same for Mexico but with .mx bakclinks. But with patience, don't build a lot of backlinks together.
Best wishes and good luck!!

I think if you properly implement the hreflang tags then yes you will.

Hi Nigel, thanks for your help.
We already have the domains, using /es/ and a neutral language (spanish from Bogota), but I'm seeing poor results in other countries, like Mexico and Spain.
We have one of the bests blogs in our niche in Brazil (portuguese), but we dont repeat the success in Latin America and Spain, with another domain and spanish content.
PS: we will use hreflang sitemaps soon. Do you think if that will impact positive in our rank?
Cheers!

Hi Pau, thanks for your help.
So, if you need to choose the best language for a Spanish content to rank well in Spain and Latin America, you choose spanish from Spain?
At the moment, we are using a neutral spanish from Colombia (and we dont use hreflang tags yet) and I'm seeing poor results in other countries, like Mexico and Spain...
PS: we will use hreflang sitemaps soon.
Cheers!

Hi Ewerton
You have two choices here.
1. Set up sub-folders for each country eg
website.com/es
webiste.com/co
website.com/mxThen use the hreflang tag on each of the pages to tell Google which language and country you are targetting.
https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en
That is OK if you believe there are language variations for each of those countries that would make each variation appeal to them. Particularly useful if you are talking about the countries as well. the hreflang tags will ensure that neither of them variations is regarded as duplicate content. This would allow you to talk about the different countries as well.
EG
You would use x for the default .com which would not be goe-targeted in search console.
2. You could just have the Spanish website as the .com and don't geotarget using sub-folders. Then don't target country in search console. This is if you believe that everyone in all those countries will be happy to view a Spanish version that is not tailored to each country.
These are the only two choices you have because you can't multi-target using hreflang or in search console - it's either specific or not at all.
There is also a great response from Kate Morris here. (ignore all the other bs) https://moz.com/community/q/can-you-target-the-same-site-with-multiple-regional-hreflang-entries
I hope that helps.
Regards
Nigel

Hi Ewerton Silva,
I managed some projects in spanish that needed good rankings in Spain and also in Latin America. I used for them a .com domain and spanish from Spain, it worked well. But I think you can also use spanish from other country like Mexico, I've seen some websites from Latin America countries that rank well in Spain. Maybe you should choose the spanish from the country in which you want to rank better of all.
I would have only one domain and make the same content for all the countries, because there are a lot of countries on latin america and its difficult to create the same but different content to a lot of countries, and you also have to create a backlink campaign for each of them and is a lot of work.
It's better if you focus your efforts on a single web, but try to build backlinks from all the countries in which you are tryin to rank.
Hope that helps!

Bad ranking and drops on main keyword
Hi Guy's, I have a question about a website that ranks between SERP 10 - 20 and often drops out of the search results. Looking at authority it should score in atleast in top 10. Netherlands + Belgium - Dutch language
International SEO | | Happy-SEO
https://www.vaneyckshutters.com
Keyword: Shutters (in all languages) Netherlands: SERP 10 - 20 and drops
Belgium Dutch language: Top 3 position
Belgium French language: Top 3 position History:
In the past, the website was live on domain extensions: .nl (Dutch) .be (Belgium) Later they switched to .com/nl/ (Netherlands + Belgium - Dutch language) .com/fr/ (Belgium - French language) And finally they swtiched to .com (Netherlands + Belgium - Dutch language) .com/fr/ (Belgium - French language) *All switched where provided with redirects In 2016 Q3 a new website was launched provided with https://, there where some issues with redirects but that's mainly fixed now. After launching the new website the positions where terrible. The website didn't score on the keyword: Shutters, and some times not even on there own brandname. After a while it stabilised but still sometimes the website dropped out of the search results. A few weeks ago we made some technical changes and now we see drops again. Strange things Still we see strange things happening. Mainly the fact that Belgium NL and FR score good, but that could also be because of lower competition. What about the search result: site:vaneyckshutters.nl (indexed) site:vaneyckshutters.be (indexed) i came across this article, and looked at: vaneyckshutters.nl/robots.txt (present) vaneyckshutters.nl/robots.txt (present) Strange that the meta titel is ignored bij Google:
".com" meta title is the same as the indexed ".nl" and ".be" At some point a saw a redirect from the old website to the new:
302 permanent redirect (made me think there was some tweaking going on) I asked a friend if he could provide some SEO advise and gave suggestions: - In the robots.txt is see "disallow:[empy]", is that smart? Canonical on home is set to: "/" but redirect without "/" x-default in alternate is missing Advise Does anyone see the issue or has an advise for us? Maybe we are missing the clues and is something going wrong on: Server/domain level (redirects) Authority level (still some 404's) Technical issues (hreflang) etc. etc. Hope someone can help us out! Thanks a million!0 -

Anyone knows/seeing this strange bump in traffic from Granada, Spain?
I have noticed a strange bump in traffic from August 14, coming from Granada Spain. I have a language specific website and there is no way I have suddenly thousands of readers in Granada. GA show the service provider is opera software asa and domain is opera-mini.net I am wondering the location shown in GA as Granda, Spain is the correct one. Perhaps Opera is proxying the traffic through it proxy server located in Granda. Or this is spammer trying to download content? Anyone else has seen this?

Why would a site lose rankings in U.S while maintaining rankings in other English locations (Canada & Australia)
What would cause a site to lose ranking in the U.S while maintaining top (1st page) positions in other English results countries such as Canada or Australia? Is this purely penguin related because of location of backlinks or are there other significant factors that could be in play? Would this rule out Panda as a cause because it's simply an "English language" targeted algo and not location dependent like backlinks (penguin)? Appreciate any insights

Are my translated pages damaging my ranking?
Hi there, I have a site in English but with duplicates in different languages. The first problem is that these translated versions of my site receive no ranking on google stars (while the english does) - why is this? The second problem is that SEOmoz counts the errors on my site and then duplicates this error count for all the translated versions of my site - meaning I have a huge amount of errors (too many on-page links). Add this to the fact that I use affilite ID´s to track different types of traffic to my site - so all page urls in english and other languages, with an affiliate id on the end of the url, count as an error. This means I have a huge amount of on page errors indicated by SEOmoz, plus no ranking for my translated pages - I think this is really harming my overall ranking and site trust. What are your opinions on this?

International Link Building - France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland
I've got a partner agency (non-SEO) in Europe who wants to send some additional SEO business our way, but I don't currently have a system in place geared specifically towards international, country specific link building. Does anyone know of any resources (blogs, lists, tools) specifically geared towards getting links from country specific TLDs for France, Spain, Germany, Italy and Switzerland? (.fr, .es, .de, .it and .ch are the TLDs.) .co.uk sources would also be handy. A list of potential link building sources in those countries would be most helpful. I fully understand the SEO elements in play for international SEO, I just don't have any decent resource lists for those specific countries. Sites in those countries that accept guest blog posts, language specific infographic sites, foreign PR platforms, high-quality non-penalized directories...really anything would be awesome! Thanks in advance folks!

Hi everyone, I am on page #1 position #2 with my keyword but doesnt get any clicks ! I think I know the problem but I desperatly need your opinion too. Here are some info about my site. what do you think the problem is? Thanks for your help. It means a lot. -My keyword's Global and Local montly search is 1300 (exact) -Seomoz Rank Tracker shows that I rank ( on Page #1, Position #2 in Google / United Kingdom) -I use always private browsing to check my rankings -my domain is a .com and I bought the domain name from godaddy -Hosting is 1&1 and their server is in Germany. Which is a shame, I ve just realized 😞 -My site ranks on Google.uk (The web) but doesnt rank Google.co.uk (pages from uk). Is this the problem? I ve just change the target country to United Kingdom using webmaster tool. Will it help? When I search a query , I dont change it to ''pages from uk'' it came automaticly (the web). Does people care and change it to the ""pages from UK"? I had some clicks at first when my site was page #1 position #8-9 but now its position #2 and I get no clicks at all. Thanks
