What should my key words be for home page?
-
Hey Everyone,
I'm curious if anyone can provide some insight as to what my keywords should be for my website. Just as a quick heads up, my company, Back In Motion Sport & Spine Physical Therapy, is a physical therapy clinic that specializes in orthopedic, sport, and spine injuries. You can find my site here: www.backinmotionsspt.com
That said, I understand about doing key word research and integrating that on the site. However, since I am a smaller practice should the end of the my key word entail my city of Fort Myers, FL. For instance, should my key words be the following:
-
Orthopedic physical therapy Fort Myers, FL
-
Sport Rehabilitation Fort Myers, FL
-
Back Pain Relief Fort Myers, FL
Or....
Should they just be:
-
Orthopedic physical therapy
-
Sport rehabilitaiton
-
Back pain relief
I look forward to hearing any and all feedback.

Hello there,
I have a bit more different opinion than others I would choose to include the city as part of your keyword, the reason is simple, do a Google search with and without city from the keyword, which one do you think it's more relevant?
Don't forget your longer tail keyword (/w city name) also included your general keyword as well (/wo city name), so there's basically no harm I can think of to include your city name.
But of course, make sure you also use the properly structured data as well.
Some would also suggest that your homepage shouldn't be optimized for keywords, but I don't think there's one-rule-for-all in SEO, especially if you aren't a big brand and just starting out in SEO, your homepage is generally your most linked page with the highest ranking chance. So I would not waste the opportunity to rank keywords with my homepage.

I assume you're talking about the homepage here.
Generally you should focus the homepage for branded queries, you will find the majority of traffic to your homepage will be branded search terms.
I would then create pages for your key terms...

Sport Rehabilitation Fort Myers, FL

Back Pain Relief Fort Myers, FL

I think your target keyword should be "Physical Therapy" You should automatically come up for the cities within your geographical location so long as you are in google and the other crucial directories consistently and accurately. Don't listen to the non believers, the Schema Markup can really drive it home as well! You can generate the Schema JSON in Google Structured Markup Helper Tool. Your Chamber of Commerce backlink along with all the DoFollows from core social platforms, the juice will add up if you optimize the profiles well in addition to ranking them and staying active. Now for these low diff takedowns:
-
Orthopedic physical therapy
-
Sport rehabilitaiton
-
Back pain relief
Make Youtube videos, providing authoritative advice, make Infographics to distribute on all the picture share platforms. Embed them both on your 2000 word blog and amazingly helpful advice plus insight on "how to see if your bla bla insurance covers this". If they end up doing their research on your site, and get the process and layout from your site, good chance they'll end up seeking the therapy from you!

Hi Scott!
Good question! When you operate a local business, it's extremely important to incorporate your city name in your optimization of your text and in many of your tags, too. Don't go overboard, of course. Be sure you're writing in natural language. But, definitely do include your city name where you can, particularly in the title tag of your home page and contact page, and then wherever else it seems relevant. This will help both your potential clients and Google understand the locale of your business.
Hope this helps, and please do follow up with any further questions you may have!

If I use a similar H1 on two landing pages for my website will it impact my SEO negatively?
I've been doing quite a bit of research on keyword cannibalization and duplicate content. I have two pages with nearly the same H1. The rest of the body is different, with a few similar overlapping keywords and points. Am I right in that nealry the same keyword in H1 on two separate landing pages will damage by SEO?

Photographer home page seo
I have a question about the best way to optimize a photographer's homepage for SEO. It's a simple answer if you specialize in one or two things but in my experience many beginner (and even seasoned photographers) will shoot whatever they can get their hands on. Perhaps you mainly shoot weddings and engagement sessions but you also shoot newborns from time to time, family photos, high school seniors and generic head shots. Granted the short answer may be to simply suggest that they specialize however coming from the photography world that isn't always feasible. Of course we'd suggest that they should create a page for each specialty to optimize for that specific keyword, but I'm talking mainly about the home page. Dallas Wedding Engagement Family Newborn headshot photographer looks pretty spammy and I'm sure Google won't like that either. In some cases you can definitely group things together, like family, senior portrait and new born could feasibly be grouped into "Dallas family portrait photographer" etc, but in other instances where you shoot everything not so much. So with that being said, in terms of optimizing both the title tag and content on the page (easier to separate out) what would your advice be?

Wrong page ranking for keyword.
I have a page i'm trying to rank for certain keywords around "emergency vet clinic" the page is domain.com/emergency-vet-care but my home page is the one that is ranking better and better. How can I get the other page to rank for e.g. "emergency vet care" , "emergency animal care" and the main page to rank for just regular vet care? My on page looks pretty good. I've also taken out most references to emergency care on the main home page except for the one link to it. Thanks

My page was removed from Google search result, any idea why?
URL: http://id.gamesinasia.com/review-smartphone-xiaomi-mi3/ Hi, So last week I wrote a review about a smartphone and after a couple days my post was at 6th (first page) in google search result. But yesterday it was suddenly disappeared from google search result (not even in 10++ page). Normally I just have to wrote title page + games in asia, like "review xiaomi mi3 games in asia" and google will show me the post but now it wont even show. In fact two other site that simply scrap my content was showing on 1st and 2nd result! More info: All the content was original, including the image. We are also Yahoo (Indonesia) content partner so my review also ends up in yahoo site ( https://id.berita.yahoo.com/review-xiaomi-mi3-sebuah-angkatan-baru-dunia-smartphone-121537236.html) I'm not expecting a super high ranking, but google is punishing the page and I have no idea why. Thanks!

The same keyword on multiple pages, but not all (combined with other relevant keywords) for products.
Hi Guys, I want to get an opinion/advice on this. My client has a site that have all their products (I am working on expanding the product descriptions, benefits and how they differ from each other) listed and I just want to know if I can use the term 'gear oil' for example on multiple pages as one of the keywords. The product range (among others like transmission fluid and anti-freeze) is gear oil (with the different types of gear oils available described) and I can't really change what the product is. I do have different variations (such as gear lubricant, automotive gear lubricant, car gear oil etc.) but will it do damage if I use the same keyword (like gear oil) on multiple pages (along with another relevant keyword that does not involve the words gear oil)? Any help on this will be greatly appreciated!

Keyword ranking by word order
If we have a keyword with 2 words like "SSL Audit". Will it rank in the same position the other way "Audit SSL" ?

Is there a minimum amount of words you need?
I am making some pages on my website very short. Some contain only about 20-30 words in the body. I will have about 50 of these pages. It is not because I want to spam but I think it is more user friendly. Will this hurt the overall site's SEO? I dont care that much about SEO for each individual page, but obviously id care a lot if these small content pages hurt my website in general? Thanks!

Keyword affected by the following word, forming a keyphrase?
This came to my mind: Can word(s) immediately following a keyword hurt the ranking for that keyword, if they together form a phrase known to Google? Should I avoid keyphrases to rank better for a single keyword? Let's say that I have a website that ranks very well for the keyword "rice". The home page title and headline might be "Rice around the world". Now let's assume I change the "around the world" to "pudding", making the title "Rice pudding", which is in fact one of the keyphrases suggested by Google Instant when one types "rice". Is it possible that Google now decides the page should not rank well for the generic "rice" search any more, because it is not about rice as such but rice pudding, and as a result the ranking for the "rice" search suffers? This would probably make sense in some cases. A "flights to Hawaii" page should not rank very highly for a generic "flights" search, but just that specific search. However a "flights online" page might be all right to rank as high as any, if the meaning is understood (in all languages).
