Will switching my domain cause SEO suicide?
-
Hi, Community!
Had a client for many years, MN Plumbing & Appliance Installation: mnplumbingandappliance.com
We're re-branding as MN Plumbing & Home Services. We're wanting to change the domain to:mnplumbingandhomeservices.com
Problem is, we have some 20+ great backlinks, a DA of 46 (pretty good for us), and a domain age of over 10 years!
Will switching this domain cause SEO suicide?

I believe that domain type-ins, unlinked domain mentions, navigational queries, and other uses of your domain online have an influence on rankings. So, if your domain has a long and strong history of online use, you will be giving that up - at least until it is reestablished.
-
If it is a new domain name there will be no domain authority and you will have to build up the site again from scratch. The 301s will help kick start the process but you will need to put in time and effort to restore your rankings.

What will SEO be like in the 2020's?
Hey guys, I would love to hear your thoughts on how you think SEO will change in the 2020's. The 2010's saw some pretty cool stuff like Panda, Penguin, penalties for non-mobile-friendly, non-secure and slow loading sites. What will be more or less important for SEO's in the 2020's than today? How will machine learning and AI change SEO?

Negative SEO impact of two Similar Domains on Same IP
Our ecommerce company has acquired a former competitor which has similar content & largely sells the same set of products. Both domains run on the same ecommerce platform version and do well organically on an overlapping set of keywords. Currently the websites are separate instances which are hosted separately. There is no interlinking or cross branding between the sites. Since each brand has strong equity & SEO, there are no plans to combine brands or domains. For several reasons, it would be ideal to combine platform instances and hosting, but we are concerned about potential SEO impact of shared IP addresses. Is it likely that moving the sites to the same IP/C-Block could have a negative SEO impact since they rank on the same keywords. Would Google devalue one site if they were seen to be connected or owned by the same company? I know this issue has been addressed for domains with more variance between products and content, but since there is a large overlap (but not duplicate content) between our two domains, we wanted additional insight. Obviously there are other SEO factors when you move a site, but we are currently trying to understand this specific factor. Thanks Community for your help! -Amber

Changing Domain Host and Potential SEO Effects
Hi Community, We are currently thinking of changing our domain hosting package and I am wondering if that could have any effects on rankings, SEO, etc. The thing here is that we aren't changing the hosting provider, we are only changing the package from the same provider. Most of the info I have found on the internet has been mostly about changing actual hosting providers versus packages from the same provider (if the makes sense). If anyone knows if this might affect our SEO and what steps we can take to safe guard against any potential pitfalls, please let us know. Thanks

Seo for international sites
Hello, I have a question for the group, our main US site- http://www.datacard.com is utilized to move content to other regional sites like http://www.datacard.co.uk/ and http://www.datacard.fr/ and http://www.datacard.com.br/. Anyhow, we essentially have some regional content on those sites, but for ease of maintaining and updating the content we have a company translate this for us and then undergo an in country review for local people in our company to review the content. That being said the meta descriptions, titles, code, everything gets translated to that language. I know there are issue for SEO for these purposes as we get much better rankings with http://www.datacard.com. The regional sites are newer so this could be part of it. We don't have an agency helping us with SEo and i get a lot of questions on what can be done internally for this for regional sites with our current structure. Any tips you have? It would be greatly appreciated! Laura

Switching domains, need tips and trick?
I currently have my sub-product hosted on a subdomain that I have, for example say it is: x.mysite.com. I plan to migrate and move this to mysite.com. I was planning to do this by having mysite.com pointing to x.mysite.com and do a 301 redirect x.mysite.com to mysite.com. Is it as simple as that? Any other consideration, tips and tricks that I should be aware of so that my SERP doesn't get messed up. Any articles or guides on this subject matter would be highly appreciated
