Should i switch from .com to .fr / .de etc
-
Hi,
I have a seo question that I just cant seem to get an answer for.
Right now I have an international ecommerce shop selling to several european countries.
The setup is like this:
www.domain.com -> 301 -> www.domain.com/nl (dutch)
www.domain.com/uk (english)
www.domain.com/fr (french)
www.domain.com/de (german)I also have the domainnames for the countries I sell to:
www.domain.nl / www.domain.fr / www.domain.co.uk / www.domain.frIts quite easy to switch to the later because I allready own the domains and can technically change this within an hour in our magento2 multistore.
I think the customers would trust their local tld more than the .com and my question is: Is it also better for SEO?
Or will the splitting of the backlinks hurt me.Thanks for your insights.

Thank you for your answer.
Indeed all href lang settings are correct allready.

Hi,
The first thing that I would look at in any case is if you're able to use the HREF lang feature. If you aren't that making any of these changes won't help you too much, as the backlinks, in that case, would be spread across the different TLDs. Usually, that doesn't work in your favor too much.
In itself, I would advise a company to stick with the solution that they already have before considering a move to another TLD/folder structure. In this case, I'm having a hard time seeing the upside.
Martijn.

Page ranking in .com but not in .co.uk
Hi there, I tried to search the Q&A but couldn't find any answers to my issue. We have a page that is ranking #2 for the term "translation memory" in google.com, but it doesn't show in Google.co.uk. This has been like this for weeks now. We are not targeting any specific country in GWT. Does anyone know a possible explanation for this? Thank you.

Tracking forwarding / vanity URLS
Buongiorno from 18 Degrees sunny wetherby UK 🙂 Am i right in thinking you can track a forwarding urls via Google analytics. Put another way if a site points www.kissmymelons.co.uk to www.lickmybanana.co.uk can you measure how many referrals where generated from kissmymelons.co.uk I'm 69% sure the referral data will appear in the referral source section in Google analytics but I need to be 100% sure 😉 Grazie tanto,

Is putting/removing Adsense ads on the site affects crawling for seo?
Because I noticed when we totally remove Adsense ads on our site, the pages crawled per day on the google webmastertools suddenly dropped into noticable amount and we tested again to turn it on for a singe day, it jumped up again. So if Adsense affects crawling then, if we have adsense ad on all pages of the site the more chances it gets crawled by the bot? WS76R8w

Pro/Cons of JUST using Google Analytics
I find myself in a situation where I am having to defend why purely relying on just Google Analytics for site data i.e. exit pages, keywords, bounce rate etc... is not good practise. So I thought/wondered if other people have come up against this. What are the Pro and Cons for ONLY using Google Analytics for your site data....

Would you say it is more bennificial to seperate keywords in the title tag tag of a page using a common ( keyword , keyword | Domain.com) or using a hyphen as SEOmoz best practices reccommends (keyword - keyword | domain.com)?
Title tag best practices according to seomoz is the following keyowrd - keyword | brand.com but I have seen some interesting results from using a comma as to a hyphen to seperate keywords as reccomended and wanted to know which method is more crawler friendly.

Does a .com stop a UK visitor?
Hi, If a E-commerce website based in the UK (and selling products only to the UK) have a .com domain will this stop UK visitors? I kind of getting the feeling some potential visitors might not visit because they feel the website is not UK based because they see the .com. Anyone else had any experience with this?

.com Doman and off-shore host for an Australia company, does this hurt ratings?
We have a site based in Australia that has been using the .com domain. Recently the .com.au became available and we purchased it and use a 301 redirect. Does having a site hosted off-shore and a .com rather than .com.au for a company affect the ratings in google.com.au for Australian traffic?

Geo-targeting / Presenting Unique Content
A client is debating housing two websites under one URL. The sites would offer similar services at different price points. For example, if a user was coming from a San Fran IP they would be presented with the "high-end" packages while another user coming from Dallas would get the "low budget" content. What are the SEO implications? I know that auto geo-targeting can sometimes be risky. It seems like IP locators aren't accurate all the times (especially from a mobile device). Advise? Basically, the client wants to make sure that a Dallas user will be presented with the "right" keywords in the SERPs. What would you recommend? Thanks!
