Question on site structure
-
My client is a nationwide company. They provide building maintenance services in 7 different cities. In each city they provide a different range of services.
They currently have a single service page for each service and no mention on that page of the cities they offer the service.
The service pages are getting no SERP visibility.
We are running Paid Search and recommending SEO.
I'm wondering whether it would be beneficial to build out specific service pages for each city so the content is more relevant to both users and search engines.
What is best practice in this situation? Client wants to dominate SERPs in each market for the services they offer.

I have used this strategy in the past, but it is still working. Create a clean silo structure, so it will be easy to track in your Google Analytics.

Is this a structure you have used with success for a current or past project?

I would recommend to create a specific page targeting specific city. For example, if you are providing services in New York, then create a dedicated page with the targeting keyword "Services in New York". It will give a boost to your rankings. I am also planning to do it on the site themediahouse.co. Also focus on local SEO. Local SEO is still untapped and has lots of potential in it.

hi there,
I would recommend to build SEO pages that would target each city where your client provides building maintenance. This should help you to improve your Google Ads Score on each page. You might need to build some links to those pages in order to rank them.

Changing url (permalink) structure of website??
Currently I'm working on SEO of one website www.mocomi.com. I want to change url (permalink) structure of entire website which has more than 5000 pages. Currently website have structure of http://mocomi.com/tenali-raman-the-kings-condition/ Which I want to change it to http://mocomi.com/fun/stories/tenali-raman/tenali-raman-the-kings-condition/ Likewise I want to change entire website permalink url structure to make site architecture more SEO friendly. Which means I'am going to add only categories & subcategories before actual link. Kindly guide with following questions which I need to move forward with this step. How much is it worth to change URL structure? Checklist or factors I need to consider while making this decision? Is it a good practice to change URL's of entire website at once or Should I change it in Parts? How much time it takes google to rank those urls again? Which are the best practices to do so?

Breadcrumbs structure
Adding breadcrumbs to create a hierarchy on what is otherwise a flat site. Got the following pages which are, our main pages that rank - Metal gates Metal driveway gates Metal garden gates Metal side access gates The Metal gates pages link off to the other pages mentioned but also contain a lot of other info The driveway gates, garden gates and side access gate page all contain our range of gates, the three pages mentioned then have links off to their individual gates contained within each section Breadcrumb wise, should I aim for Home - Metal gates - Driveway gates - individual driveway gate

How long does it take for Google to see Changes to a site?
Hi, I have a low PR site (PR 1) that I am starting to work on. Ingeneral when you make changes to my site how long would it take Google to recognize and index those changes? The reason I am wondering is because the site I am working on had a lot of duplicate content (around 700 pages), I got rid of it all, but I wasn't sure how long it would take Google to spider all these pages and re-index them since the site is low PR. Thanks, Ken

Change in link structure due to Joomla
Hi, I have been using Joomla 1.5 until recently and the link structure would be something like - http://www.guru99.com/software-testing.html Now with Joomla 1.7 , ".html " automatically stripped and the URL become "http://www.guru99.com/software-testing" My site is due upgrade but ".html" part is a concern. Once I upgrade , Can I re-direct all ".hmtl" url like http://www.guru99.com/software-testing.html to non ".html" url like "http://www.guru99.com/software-testing" Will this ensure all the link juice is passed ? I have more than 350 URL in my site ... Please guide ... Cheers Krishna PS = the link http://www.guru99.com/software-testing will not work since the site is yet to be upgraded

We are building it as we speak and just wondered if the below would be a good choice for our category pages? office recycling bins kitchen recycling bins outdoor recycling bins school recycling bins home recycling bins What i am particularly interested in is whether having the keyword recycling bins at the end of every category is too much? Thank you Jon

How deep should I go with a directory site?
I am creating a new site which has a directory component. Based on what I have ready I am inclined to keep the site architecture as flat as possible. However, the natural layout that I have come up with in my head has the directory listings 5 or 6 pages deep in the site structure. I saw in another post that someone in a similar situation was suggesting that going deep like this is fine so long as there are many internal links to the deeper pages to indicate that they are important. Should I make a conscious effort to make the site architecture as flat as possible? Are there any specific guides/resources that address this particular issue that I should be aware of? Thanks!
