Twitter campaign - need some feedback
-
Hi
I am helping my wife optimize e-com site selling childrens clothing. I am learning SEO from scratch and have no real computer background (physician IRL). Been doing okay - member here for less then 2 months and are ranking 12th and 14th for 2 main keywords (frontpage) and 4 other keywords on first page (producer names on separate pages) (6th -9th spot). All of course absolutely whitehat. I havent done a twitter campaign yet. just recently opened twitter account but have 3 or 4 followers willing to retweet ( they all have 700-1000 followers in right segment). I have very limited twitter knowledge. Here is my idea and just shoot at it if you think i should do it otherwise:
it will be in norwegian but ill do it in english just for you
follow @companyname(epleskrinet) #childrensclothing (which is name i use for company on facebook) and retweet and take part to have your chance to win a 'giftcard' of x USD. (www.epleskrinet.no)
I am planning to put a box/picture referring to competition on frontpage.
Feel free to critique me, thanks for help.

Hi Dan,
First, I would follow the brands that you carry and the people that carry those brands. Then I would create a custom coupon just for the twitter followers (10% off your next purchase for following us on twitter). Once you start gaining more followers I would do the follow message that you have and put it on your homepage of the website, on your twitter account and on facebook. I would leave the competition down to a certain amount of people and I would say whomever gets retweeted the most wins a $$$ giftcard to our store (you can also do this on facebook - we recently did it for a client on facebook and they gained 1000 followers in two days and it's still growing).
Hope this helps!

Oh and the point of this is to get some followers quickly and then just let them do the work for you with RT etc.
Tip for the competwition is to give away something that is actually related to what you sell, sounds obvious but people often give away things that people will go bad for; Ipad etc
Give something related and they will engage with you and buy from you.

Hey
My advice is find someone who is already doing what you are wanting to achieve that is in the same niche as you, then follow their followers and add real value to your followers.
Following users will get you noticed and you will get some followers back from it but don't over do it thats just spam!
Also consider some competitions etc a good start is http://competwition.com/ this will get you some followers pretty quickly, just be sure to set it to a 30 day comp to maximise your followers.
Remember though add value, engage with people and don't spam.
Hope this helps

Twitter Analytics: Follower Count & Reporting Inconsistencies
Our number of followers on Twitter has suddenly dropped (yet not dropped) in a really weird way. Twitter Analytics shows follower counts in two places: Monthly increases in followers, and then also in the Audience Insights tab, where you can see three months of follower counts mapped in a chart. Month-to-month, the total number of followers continues to rise. What’s inconsistent, however, is the total number of aggregate followers shown in the cart. Twitter just dropped our to total count of followers by about 600. But it’s not like we just suddenly lost 600 followers last month (in fact we gained far more than that), but rather that Twitter seems to have adjusted the aggregate numbers across the board retroactively for all months. So while month-to-month continues to show gains, overall, we still went down. The only way we would have even noticed this, by the way, is because we have a record of the OLD total follower count that Twitter had previously displayed as recently as last month. So confusing. We’re trying to figure out what happened, and the only thing that seems to make sense is that Twitter may have done a huge spam account purge, and instead of making it look like we suddenly lost a lot of followers, they just updated the aggregate total # of followers across all time……? [For the record, we do not buy followers, but we don’t always do the best job at blocking spam followers when the do follow us either.] Any advice would be appreciated, thanks. 🙂

Who are my Twitter followers?
I'd like to know how many of my twitter followers are other businesses and how many are individual customers. Is there a tool for this?

Do having social sharing icons such as Twitter and Pinterest slow down site speed?
We are debating a redesign of a travel site and wondering whether having social sharing buttons including Pinterest and Facebook above each image would slow down site speed and therefore have a negative impact on our rankings. We are deciding between having the icons above each image or just in the side bar of all pages. Many thanks, Penny

Twitter inbound link not being indexed
Hello Mozzers! I was using open site explorer to investigate inbound links to our company website and also to our competitors. The main difference being is their top links are all coming from twitter - where as ours aren't. Now our twitter account is about 10months old maybe more and it's got the standard setup with a description and the URL. We've also been tweeting with a link directly to our site. Yet no luck? Am I missing something? Thanks, Dan

Twitter, Please direct me to background image guide
Hi guys, I'm having trouble coming up with a proper twitter background. I'm just going to start with a simple solid green with branding info in the top left. Do you guys know of an article that gives me the exact dimensions and placement to put things as far as where to put my logo and name in the background image and how wide and tall to make my logo and name. Or you can just tell me, but an article would be fine. The articles I've read are not consistent. Thank you!

Social Media Campaigns
Hey SEOmoz Community, I have a couple questions about social media campaigns. Which KPIs do you use for social media campaigns? How do you determine realistic campaign goals? I am looking at projecting the number of followers/fans and the amount of traffic a site can expect to see as a result of this growth. Any suggestions. Thanks! Geoff

Regaining Twitter
Our Twitter account had been hijacked by an ex-employee who refused to give it back. However we filed for copyright infringement and got access of our Twitter account back. The sad part is that Twitter could not leep our followers intact and we lost our fan base of over 30k followers. Now that we have control of the account, how should we go about regaining our followers? Just to give the community a better idea i'd like to point out that we are a leading news organization (dawn.com) of Pakistan. (Yes, we have internet and no we don't ride on camels!). We posted a message on our FB account that has an even greater following but didn't get a good response as most followers on FB are local whereas 70% of our readership comes from the US alone! So how would you suggest regaining followers and also, is it better to operate an RSS feed or manually select the links to share on Twitter. Thanks!
