Separate websites for 2 products in the same business?
-
I have a business that sells art. There are 2 distinct types of art on offer. In many cases, someone who is interested in Type A may also be interested in Type B.
Most search competitors that sell Type B, only sell Type B. As a result, they have a dedicated site for type B art.
Would I be better off separating my business into 2 dedicated websites or keeping them combined?
The site currently ranks reasonably well due to content, age and has some decent inbound links. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Peter.

Hi EGOL,
Thanks for your insight into my question. I'm new here but I've read some of your other posts on the Q&A forums and will continue to work hard on producing quality content while optimizing the site. I appreciate you taking the time to answer this, my first question.

Hi John, Thanks so much for answering my question. Exactly what I wanted to hear. I'll get down to separating sections on the site in an appropriate manner and keep moving forward.

If I was building from scratch I would build one single site. It gives you the opportunity to cross-sell, it gives you the opportunity for a large impressive site, and the site will collect links from two different types of art collectors - instead of just one.
The site currently ranks reasonably well due to content, age and has some decent inbound links. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
You are winning. Do not change this. It would be a huge mistake to tear off 1/2 of the site and place it on a new domain with no links and no authority.

One subdomain would be better; so you linkbuilding efforts would help Domain Authority.
You could create two landing pages specific to the genres of art and building links with exact anchor text to each. You could even build separate Facebook pages for each.
The main page could about your company or the artist, etc.
Good luck

Aggregate rating for products
hello Currently I'm working with a retail customer to optimize his search experience. There's some odd behaviour about aggregate ratings for products. Products without a price (price based on daily demand) are shown with proper delivering the 'rich snippet' search result. On the other hand, products with a price are shown normally without any mark up. Here's what I did for now checked mark ups code wise (used the markup validator) re-submitted xml sitemaps search query is (for test purposes): [product name] + [retailer brand name] the question is: why aren't just these specific aggregated ratings (with a price) shown and the other ones are shown properly? Furthermore, is it a question of relevancy (can't imagine that cause the search query is really specific to the needed result)? thank you!

How to deal with 80 websites and duplicated content
Consider the following: A client of ours has a Job boards website. They then have 80 domains all in different job sectors. They pull in the jobs based on the sectors they were tagged in on the back end. Everything is identical across these websites apart from the brand name and some content. whats the best way to deal with this?

Any recommendations for small businesses
I'm currently helping a bunch of small business owners with using internet marketing SEO etc. A couple of them are just starting out and cant afford to pay for someone to build the site for them etc. If someone wants to use one of these Free / cheap websites (live vistaprint, 123 reg, Moonfruit, etc), which one would you recommend? Are any any better and giving the foundations to build some decent rankings on?I Do the ones where you drag and drop to build the site normally create a flash site? Has anyone done a study on which ones work best? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Ant

Transfer of website to maintain SEO
I am nearly finished building a new wordpress website to replace the old static HTML site which is currently doing very well in SERPs. My old site is currently hosted by a company who owns the site, my domain is registered with a different company and I have the nameservers pointed at Cloudflare. I have built my new site and have it hosted with a different company and I wish to keep the domain name registered with the company it is currently with.Is there an order that I should follow to move from the old site to the new site using my current domain name so that I minimize any impact on SEO. I built the new site with the same URL structure to maintain linking benefit. thanks

Product Reviews.
Hi. In the last few days I have studied a little bit about this, and I would like to know the opinion of experts. My website www.theprinterdepo.com is a Magento site and I have the product review disabled by default because nobody makes reviews. However I have seen that other vendors out there have big databases of reviews that can be plugged in into my website. www.powerreviews.com for example Will this really boost my site? seo talking? If so, any other provider you can recommend me, www.powerreviews.com seems too expensive.
