Where do you find quality content writers?
-
Sure we all know about oDesk or textbroker but is there a place people can go to hire higher quality writers?
-
I have also had some great success via the University avenue. Not only for writters......... Great points!
-
Yep, there are some very good writers on elance, be sure to check their profiles and work samples.

Hey Joe,
We syndicate content at our company and have faced this same question.
A very succesful method for us has been to arrange unpaid internships with local colleges. They often will have job boards online at the various universtities where you can post your listing by department, e.g., English/Journalism, etc.
Depending on your pay scale, you may also want to scan already-employed journalists in local papers. Indianapolis for instance (where we are located) has a free entertainment paper named NUVO tha tis distributed once monthle all across the metro area. Very popular paper and the writers for these types of places generally make very low income and are willing to make a transition. We have also had a lot of success with this approach. (The plus is that these folks are known quantities in terms of their talent and their commitment to writing!)
Lastly, do a search for blog communities in your city. There are often large communities of bloggers that are writing purely for the sake of writing. They are often very good, too!
Best of luck,
W

Elance can be good, but it's often hit and miss. You may have to go through a few poor ones to find a gem.

Excellent points!

It's quite time consuming to find good quality writers, also a bit more expensive.
If you can be bothered to weed through tonnes of useless writers you'll be able to exploit people starting out on Digital Point
Along the lines of the oDesk of this world I'd suggest - http://www.studentgems.com/ - pretty good for pretty cheap.
If you're looking for proper quality writers you could start scanning Linked In for journalists of industry magazines and such like.
But the real quality writers I've either poached (found articles in the same niche I've liked and approached them) or made through contacts in the industry. Never a substitute for networking

Yes - craigslist.org. I would hire someone local who you can look in the face and are willing to pay a decent salary to generate quality content. It might be more expensive but it will be worth it in the long run - just ask anyone hit by Panda.

Repurpose/reuse blog content - email address to make available for this
Hi, From Rand's recent Whiteboard Friday, I learned this: "Have right on the blog page the email address to use if they want to repurpose/reuse the content. That way if someone wants to give us a backlink and quote/reference our blog, they have an easy way to get permission." My question is, what do I say with the email address when I list our contact email? Something like 1. Just list the email address 2. "To reuse/repurpose our content, please contact adress@email.com." or something else?

Does aggregating content hurt your moz / google rank?
I have a news section on my site that I aggregate from multiple RSS feeds. They are stored on my site and I have sitemap that links to them. Is this a negative thing to do? Since its overall duplicate content to another site, it may be a strike against me. Should I just leave it as an updating feed and not keep the articles visible on my site?

How to Get Rid of Duplicate Content Captured on Article Lists
We have a ton of articles and blog posts on our site. Currently, we display summary lists of articles that contain the first paragraph of the article in the summary list. However, in my reports, this is coming back as duplicate content with the full article itself. How do I fix this? Ex: article main page- http://www.robots.com/articles/10 First article on that page- http://www.robots.com/articles/viewing/grippers-for-robots (which shows up as duplicate content with the main artilce page). With our blogs, we have the most recent 5 blogs (in the same summary format) listed on our main blog page. We then have categories that people can sort by. But again, this is causing us duplicate content because those pages show the first paragraph of the blogs related to that category. Ex: blog main page- http://www.robots.com/blog. First blog listed on that page- http://www.robots.com/blog/viewing/robots-and-automation-bringing-jobs-back-to-the-united-states (which then shows as duplicate content with the main blog page). And then you can also select categories to see related topics: http://www.robots.com/blog/category/buying-a-robot which is showing as duplicate content also. Help! How can I prevent this? Thanks! Wordpress hacked. Entire content wiped out
Someone hacked my Wordpress site, wiped out all my content and changed my login status to a subscriber. Years of hard work gone, I can't log in to fix anything. Is there anything I can do. Is there a way to prevent this from happening ever again. Is there a way to catch these people?

Blog content practices for e-commerce sites
What is the best practice in regards to content for e-commerce blogs on the same domain as the web-store (blog.storename.com)? What balance of content should be on the blog vs. the item & section pages or doesn't it matter?
