High pr doc files
-
I saw that the website www.comunicatedepresa.net outranks www.comunicatedepresa.ro for the therm "comunicate de presa" in google.ro SERP even though .ro beats .net in every seo indicator (links, domains linking, fb likes, g+, onpage etc)
I saw that site:www.comunicatedepresa.net returns a lot of *.doc files with a title that contains the kw ("comunicate de presa").
Ex:
www.comunicatedepresa.net/worddoc/1485/
It seems a little suspicios to me.Did anyone see this before (google giving higher importance to doc files)?
Does anyone know why .net site is ranking better?

I love these questions because they defy the laws of Google gravity! There are many "indicators" outside of the commonly discussed you find most often in these forums. You are on the right track in suspecting that Google takes the format of a site's content into consideration. If a site has relevant textual content along with a variety of downloadable .doc or .pdf files with relevant titles, preference may be swayed toward the site that seems to offer the most relevant information. Variety does matter, whether you're offering content that's supported by images, videos, outbound links, .doc documents, or .pdf documents, etc.
I also suspect that .net extension carries more weight than .ro, but there's no conclusive evidence that I can find.

301 redirect file question
Hi Everyone, I am creating a list of 301 redirects to give to a developer to put into Magento. I used Screaming Frog to crawl the site, but I have noticed that all of their urls 302 to another page. I am wondering if I should 301 the first URL to the url on the new site, or the second. I am thinking the first, but would love some confirmation. Thank you!

PR 6 Redirect to a brand new domain name
Hello all, I checked a lot fo blog posts about 301 redirects but wanted to double check with you all. I got an email from a potential client who want to do a re-brand of his business and decided to buy a new domain name.

His old domain name is PR 6 and his new domain obviously PR 0. I tried to check his old web site but it is too late as he has redirected everything to the new one. What it seems he has done though is redirect everything from his old domain (whether it is a sub category link, a blog link or a specific product) to the new domain index page. So for example if someone linked to his old product page www.xxxxxx.com/product/product_1 or his blog post www.xxxxxx.com/blog/11-21-2013/xxxxxxxxx.com in both cases it will take em to the new domain index page www.xxxxxx.com as he has not created product pages, blogs or anything than just a 4 page web site. I know that ideally he should have created same folders/subfolders, get his blog posts up and set up proper re-directs to the new pages but as I was not in charge of this process nor know if he has kept the old web site yet I wanted to know how bad is this for SEO and if his old PR 6 will pass value to his new domain. High search volume and low CTR
I have a two words domain with exact match keyword volume of over 1 millions local monthly search and CTR of 0.2% at average position of 6.6. Competition for this keywords is low. Shouldn't I be getting at least 5-10% at that position? Thanks, tb 7IhQQop.png

My Domain Authority is high but don't rank in serps
So i'm a beginner/intermediate SEO and uptil about 3 weeks ago i enjoyed Top 3 rankings for all my keywords(VIrtual Assistant,Virtual Assistants, Virtual Personal Assistant,Virtual Personal Assistants and so on) for my site www.247VirtualAssistant.com. All of a sudden i dropped in rankings and can't figure out why. I ran a link analysis and nothing looks like it changed, in fact i still command much higher domain authority than my competition, but i'm stuck on the bottom of the 2nd page. I can't tell if i'm being penalized, if the other sites all of sudden just outperformed me or something else is happening here. I've also noticed a lot of "dancing" in my serps, I've been in 2nd last position on the 2nd page, then 1st of the third page, then last on the 2nd page and so on. Can someone please help me make sense of this?? Thanks! Thomas, a very confused an desperate website owner

Why mobi version of the file comes up higher on SERPs when compared to the web version?
hi Please see the URL http://news.oneindia.in/2011/10/22/tech-gmail-to-get-a-makeover-soon-google.html

The corresponding mobile version is http://news.oneindia.mobi/2011/10/22/886893.html If we search for "Google video leaks; Gmail to get a make over soon" on Google the mobi version comes up instead of the web version. One reason could be because of the browser title. We do use meta title in our web version of the article. For the past few months our mobi version of the file comes up higher on SERPs when compared to the web version. What could be the reason? regards0 -
Submitting Sitemap File vs Sitemap Index File
Is it better to submit all sitemap files contained in a Sitemap Index File manually to Google or is it about the same as just submitting the Master Sitemap Index File.

Indexing of flash files
When Google indexes a flash file, do they use a library for such a purpose ? What set me thinking was this blog post ( although old ) which states - "we expanded our SWF indexing capabilities thanks to our continued collaboration with Adobe and a new library that is more robust and compatible with features supported by Flash Player 10.1."
