Blog Contest Question
-
Hello,
I'm planning a blog contest. I have the project plan outlined and the one missing factor is where to promote the blog contest to get the most people involved in the contest possible.
What do you recommend in regards to publicizing the contest to bloggers?
-
Hi Randy
I think the most basic thing would be to find out if you have a blog for this contest setup already or not?
I guess you would, so drawing up a well constructed post for this blog would be a priority. Do all the bells and whistles on this post release and make sure that you are connected to various blogging publishing platforms that form part of a network which shares you content in a non-threatening way.
added to this, look at using a system like twitterfeed. Twitterfeed is a great way to share content across many social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and much much more with the click of a button. The moment you post it, its gets shared across many. I have setup one of my blogs to spread news across over 150 platforms.
I would also recommend contacting some top bloggers and sending them mail, to see if they can promote it. get the big boys involved and the rest will fall into place.
lastly, remember to get a badge up for your users. Let them grab it when participating in your comp. Nice little wayt of getting some links back. of course its not the best way but does help
Hope this helped a wee bit.
Stef

Has anyone seen a Blog post from LinkedIn's new Blog feature appear in SERP's?
This feature, prior to Feb. 2014 was only available to high profile users, or influencers, like Bill Gates. Now it is available to all LinkedIn users and extends the reach to LinkedIn groups and your own network. Anyone know if there's an SEO benefit? Thanks in advance.

Separate Google+ page per blog language?
Our corporate blog is currently online in four different languages (English, Dutch, German and French): blog.com blog.be blog.fr blog.de For these different blogging domains we have one single Google+ page on which we share the blogs' content in different languages. Would it be better to make four separate Google+ pages (per blogging domain)? What would be the advantages/disadvantages? Also, each article is posted in four different languages. But the author stays the same for all different languages. So one author always posts content in English, Dutch, German and French. Could Google consider this as spam?

Blog posts to G+ and FB?
Hi, I was wondering if we should be taking our blog posts and also putting them on social sites as well such as G+ and FB? If so, does content need to change to avoid a duplicate issue and if so is there a "rule" of sorts in terms of how much to change the content up? I was just wondering since we are already taking the time to put together these "stories" on our blog if our other channels would benefit as well?

What do I do about old content on my blog?
I run a blog: www.b2bsocialmediaguide.com. It's been going for 2.5 years and some of the old content is, frankly, dated! What do you recommend I do about it? 1. Update old articles with new, more relevant content and change the date? 2. Write new articles with the relevant content and forward the URLs from old articles to the new ones? 3. Do nothing. 4. Just add links to new content from old posts? I don't want to lose link juice!

Contests for link builing?
I had read a great blog post somewhere a couple weeks ago that had some great tips and resources on how to best run a contest (like on FB) and get good links. Had mentioned specific tools and techniques to use. Unfortunately I can not for the life of me remember where I saw this at. Did anyone happen to read this and have the link the post by chance? Thanks for any help! Ron

Is a Tumblr company blog good for SEO?
Hi, We are in the process of gaining coverage and visibility over our SaaS service. And one of the work we're doing is, very much standardly, having our pro blog with content. I see that most of companies/people are using a WordPress or a Blogger blog to achieve this. Another school is choosing Tumblr, which is a rising star. But then I can't help to feel that there is something wrong with Tumblr. It doesn't appear in Google search at all... It is never in the top of the searches. And sometimes even search for an exact match of a known post extract won't show the Tumblr link into google Search. What it means to me is that Tumblr has a very poor SEO-friendly policy. I was also reading in different posts that it was indeed the case. Tumblr is bad for SEO. I can't help but feeling confused and not really understanding how such a big social blogging engine couldn't get into google search... Or are they going twitter-like? I guess my question will be: "Is it good to have chosen Tumblr, or should I switch to either WordPress.com or Blogger using a custom DNS?" Thanks for reading.
