How can I rank couple of pages to a specific geography ?

Hi guys,
I have a pretty good success in many of my keyword on google US. We are a multi-country company and would like to get better ranking on all these countries. I know it's a long run and we need to by patient to get the rank desired. We are getting the slowly, bu surely.
In the next couple of months, we will be attending a conference where we will have a booth and we would like to conduct a campaign to invite customers to join us. My question is : Is there an efficient way to have just couple of pages on our web site that could potentially rank fast on a specific geography ? Europe is my target audience ( France an UK ).
If you have any advice, I would appreciate.

Actually you do not necessarily need to redirect. Hiring a new domain, hosting in the target country, giving the distribution meta is the most you can do. If you purchase a .fr or a .co.uk domain and you completely redirect it to the .com than it is pointless in my opinion as french content will never show up on the .fr domain and so with the .co.uk one. I am optimising for Hungary, when my keywords are not available with a .hu tld I often use .com or .info. I do not host my sites in Hungary. The language of the content and the links from Hungarian pages are enough but do note that we do not have a solid culture on internet, so reaching a position in the UK or France may be much harder. Maybe if you have a site with a lot of backlins simply having a separate folder for the french content is enough. I can not help you to decide whether to put a .fr to the end of the url, or to use a different sub like fr.site.com. Wikipedia uses the second so I prefer that maybe they are doing something right.

Well, I am using drupal as CMS, and I already have both language translated at the same location. It would be very complicated to have a duplicate web site/different domain and manage it.
So , if you are saying that I need a .fr and .co.uk, domain, is a simple redirecte will do the job ? I could potentially redirect the french content www.site.fr to www.site.com/fr ?
Is this the right way of doing it ?

Nope, a duplicate website can be avoided. For the French version, you could have a totally separate website, with the content in French. No need to redirect the site, it could be hosted in France as a separate website. As the content would be in a different language and hosted in a different country, it wouldn't be duplicate so long as it's with a reputable hosting provider and truly is in French.
Alternatively, you could host the whole website on the one .com domain, providing different languages within the one website. Content Management Systems can certainly help, http://www.episerver.com/en/Products/Content/ can provide websites in different languages.
However if the content is to be different, not just a translation, then you're better off hosting a completely separate website in each country that you choose.

Does it mean I will need to have duplicate version of my website ? if I redirect my french domain to mys .com domain, should this be enough ?

That's a good answer by Zsolt.
I'd just like to add that regarding the French domain, it would be an idea to host the website on the French domain with a Hosting Provider that's based in France. The physical location of a website (usually determined by the IP address) can help with geo-targeting.

Best way to rank in France is to write French content, hire a .fr domain and obtain freanch links. For the UK English content is good, If you have a multinational tld like .net .biz is good as well, if you have .us you can consider buying a .cu.uk. What is important to obtain links from English sites, you can find English directories on this site somewhere: http://www.seo-expert-services.co.uk/ (I have never used them so far). Another thing to add a meta distrubution content="global" to your page.
I don't know what you are dealing with exactly but you can also consider adding geographical data to your search querries ex: not simply business solutions but business solutions uk or london or so. Look for what is being searched.

Hello, We're looking to internationalise our site so that US visitors will see the US branded version while everyone else will see the global version (currently at .com). This question specifically is about location-based auto-redirects. The literature I've read (including Google) recommends against auto-redirection: "Avoid automatic redirection based on the user’s perceived language. These redirections could prevent users (and search engines) from viewing all the versions of your site." Insofar as I understand it the theory goes as follows. Google crawls mainly from the US Auto-redirecting by US IP to the US domain will also redirect the Googlebot crawlers Because of this the crawlers will only see the US site / domain and not original .com website Crawlers can't index what they can't see Drop in rankings for the original site However, one of my colleagues has pointed out to me a company which does use auto-redirects. If a user is in the UK and type in their website they will be redirected to the UK version of the site, US will be US etc. I have checked their rankings and they are still ranking highly for relevant terms. I have been asked why they have been able to do this without impacting their visibility. Any ideas? Given their success have the risks of auto-redirecting have been overstated? For My International Sites only Homepage in other Language rest Pages are in English. Hreflang required here?
Hello All, For my ecommerce site at my homepage there is an Language option of 9 different countries. My main site - abcd.co.uk and other sites are like this se.abcd.co.uk, fr.abcd.co.uk, es.abcd.co.uk etc From my main site if user clicks on fr.abcd.co.uk then France site will open but when he click on any link it will redirect to my UK site. On France site homepage if user hover the cursor then links are visible of UK site only. My query is ;- Do it required here to implement hreflang? As only homepage is in different language? Do it anything wrong in google point of view? Thanks!

Redirect the main site to keyword-rich subfolder / specific page for SEO

I have two questions. Question 1: is it worthwhile to redirect the main site to keyword-rich subfolder / specific page for SEO? For example, my company's webpage is www.example.com. Would it make sense to redirect the main site to address www.example.com/service-one-in-certain-city ? I am asking this as I have learned that it is important for SEO to have keywords in the URL, and I was thinking that we could do this and include the most important keywords to the subfolder / specific URL. What are the pros and cons and how important is it to include keywords to folders and page URLs. Should I create folders or pages just the sake of keywords? Question 2: Most companies have their main URL shown as www.example.com when you access their domain. However, some multi-language sites show e.g. www.example.com/en or www.example.com/en/main when you type the domain to your web browser to access the site. I undertstand that this is a common practice to use subdomains or folders to separate the language versions. My question is regarding the subfolder. Is it better to have only the subfolder shown (www.example.com/en) or should you also include the specific page's URL after the subfolder with keywords (www.example.com/en/main or www.example.com/en/service-one-in-certain-city)? Ranking in Different Countries - Ecommerce site
My client has a .com ecommere site with UK-based serves and he wants to target two other countries (both English speaking). By the looks of it, he wouldn't want to create separate local TLDs targeting each country, I therefore wanted to suggest adding subdomains / subfolders geo-targeted to each country that they want to target, however, I'm worried that this will cause duplicate content issues... What do you think would be the best solution? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

How to rank in Google for a specific country?
Hi, I've a relative good ranking for a specific keyword in google.com (english queries (hl=en)), but searching for the same keyword in google.com.br (Brazilian Portuguese (hl=pt-BR)), my rank for that keyword is far worst. The question is: I need to do something specific to rank in google.com.br (hl=pt-BR)? I'm doing the regular link building. Creating some blogs, blogging for 10 days before droping my links, and creating link wheels the same way. The blogs I create to make links are written in Brazilian Portuguese, also, the blog that I'm trying to rank higher, is also written in Brazilian Portuguese. Duplicated 404 Pages (Travel Industry)
Our website has creating numberous "future pages" with no alt tag or class tag that are showing up as 404 pages, To make matters worst, they are causing duplicate 404 pages because we have different languages. The visitors cant find the 404s but the searchbots can. Would it better to remove or add the links to robot.txt or add nofollow/noindex tag?
