I'm just looking at a website with <h2class="hidden">Main Navigation and <h2class="hidden">Footer inserted on each page, and am wondering about the SEO implications.

Good to hear

Yes, I agree with you Alan. It's just not worth the risk, it really isn't. The developer might think it is, but it's not his website. Thanks for your advice!
-
It may be fine by him, but its not fine according to google and bing.
Let me get the facts, can the user see this text?
if not, they you are cloaking, you are shopwing one thing to the Search Engine and another to the user
-
Just spoken to the developer, who I know, and they told me it's fine as they're not keyword stuffing and Main Navigation and Footer are simply there for accessiblity reasons (screenreaders, etc). Any thoughts on that?
-
Ypu will get flaged when they catch you, but howgood they are at catching you is another story.
People often hide text and then display it using js, this is ok, so its hard for a machine to tell what is for display and what is spam.
but you have noticed it, you should make a spam report to both google and bing.

Google Bot / SEO and Cookies
Hi, I'm trying to monetise my website via a paid subscription / paid content strategy. The plan is, after the user is on the website for 1min 30secs or clicks 3 map markers or visits 3+ pages A popup will appear asking for a signup + payment Cookie will be set for 6 months, if a users returns and cookie is detected (php) they will be redirected to sign up page My site relies heavily on organic SEO, so my question is: Will google bot be presented with this sign up stuff? Does google bot set cookies? will everything be indexed properly... And what affects on SEO?

New Yoast SEO Wordpress Plugin - Using Passive Voice In Copy?
Hi all, we wondered if anyone is using the updated version of Yoast's SEO plugin for Wordpress? We use it on our Woocommerce website (along with the Woocommerce extension) and the latest version seems to have focussed on moving the writing style on. To avoid using passive voice. https://kb.yoast.com/kb/passive-voice/ We're struggling a bit to get this right, it seems to be quite a change to our current style...so we're wondering if anyone else has been looking at this and feeling like they are getting it right? Or if anyone has any resources good for helping to write more in this way? How important do people think this is? Many thanks, James & Ally

List of SEO "to do's" to increase organic rankings
We are looking for a complete list of all white hat SEO "to do's" that an SEO firm should do in order to help increase Google/Bing/Yahoo organic rankings. We would like to use this list to be sure that the SEO company/individual we choose uses all these white hat items as part of an overall SEO strategy to increase organic rankings. Can anyone please point me in the right direction as to where we can obtain this complete list? If this is not the best approach, please let me know what is, as I am not an SEO person. Thank you kindly in advance

Given the new image mismatch penalty, is watermarking considered "cloaking"?
Google has released a new penalty called "Image mismatch". Which actually penalizes sites that show images to Google than are not the same as the ones offered to users when accessing the site. Although I agree with those sites that the image is completely different that the one shown in image search, lately I've seen lots of big sites using some king of watermark or layer that reads something like "To see the high quality of this image, click here" in order to "force" the user to visit the site hosting the image. Considering the latest changes to Google's image search, which made lots of sites lose their "image search traffic", are these techniques considered part of the new penalty Google is applying? Or does it only apply to the first scenario when the image is completely different? You can read more on this new penalty here.

What do do when sidebar is causing "Too Many On-Page Links" error
I have been going through all the errors, warnings from my weekly SEO Moz scans. One thing I'm see a bit of is "Too Many On-Page Links". I've only seen a few, but as in the case of this one: http://blog.mexpro.com/5-kid-friendly-cancun-mexico-resorts there is only 2 links on the page (the image and the read more). So I think the sidebar links are causing the error. I feel my tags are important to help readers find information they may be looking for. Is there a better method to present tags than the wordpress tag cloud? Should I exclude the tags, with the risk of making things more difficult for my users? Thanks for your help.

Rel="prev" and rel="next" implementation
Hi there since I've started using semoz I have a problem with duplicate content so I have implemented on all the pages with pagination rel="prev" and rel="next" in order to reduce the number of errors but i do something wrong and now I can't figure out what it is. the main page url is : alegesanatos.ro/ingrediente/ and for the other pages : alegesanatos.ro/ingrediente/p2/ - for page 2 alegesanatos.ro/ingrediente/p3/ - for page 3 and so on. We've implemented rel="prev" and rel="next" according to google webmaster guidelines without adding canonical tag or base link in the header section and we still get duplicate meta title error messages for this pages. Do you think there is a problem because we create another url for each page instead of adding parameters (?page=2 or ?page=3 ) to the main url alegesanatos.ro/ingrediente?page=2 thanks
