Markup reference data using Scheme.org
-
Can anyone point me to a page showing how to mark up reference data according to schema.org ? Ie glossary or dictionary page.
-
You're right, my mistake.
I'm not to sure that Schema.org has something for that type of data? Here's the full list of their supported item types: http://schema.org/docs/full.html
I'm not too sure where reference data would fit in? Maybe under Thing > Intangible
-
Near as I can tell, reference material has not yet been addressed.
This means I have to extend the schema myself as outlined here: http://www.schema.org/docs/extension.html
Not 100% sure how to go about that in a way that will actually register properly. Good chance I will get it wrong.
-
Thanks but that's not that related to schema.org
-
Take a look at this tutorial: http://www.w3schools.com/schema/
-
Here is a good place to start
-
click on one of the schemas and they have examples.
-
Sorry, but that is literally no help. I've read the site a fair bit - a link to it's sitemap doesn't get me any closer.

Does using a canonical with ?utm_source=gmb cause any issues?
All of our URLs in Google My Business are tagged with ?utm_source=gmb. This way when people click on it within a Google Map listing, knowledge graph, etc we know it came from there. I'm assuming using a canonical on all ?_utm_source _pages (we have others, including some in the index) won't cause any problems with this, correct? Since they're not technically traditional organic SERPs? Dumb question I know, but better safe than sorry. Thanks.

Do you get penalized in search results when you use a heading tag, but it's not technically a heading (used for emphasis)?
Do you get penalized in search results when you use a heading tag, but it's not technically a heading? My clients are using heading tags for text they want to emphasize and make stand out. Does this affect search rankings for SEO?

Schema Markup Errors - Priority or Not?
Greetings All... I've been digging through the search console on a few of my sites and I've been noticing quite a few structured data errors. Most of the errors are related to: hcard, hentry and hatom. Most of them are missing author & entry-title, while the other one is missing: fn. I recently saw an article on SEL about Google's focus on spammy mark-up. The sites I use are built and managed by vendors, so I would have to impress upon them the impact of these errors and have them prioritize, then fix them. My question is whether or not this should be prioritized? Should I have them correct these errors sooner than later or can I take a phased approach? I haven't noticed any loss in traffic or anything like that, I'm more focused on what negative impact a "phased approach" could have. Any thoughts?

Should we re-use our old re-directed domain for a new wesbite ?
Hi One our clients has an old domain that has been redirected to another website of his. Now he is asking us to build a new website for that domain and direct it back. This is new website will be very relative to it's own old content and where it has been re-directed recently. I guess the only benefit of this would be taking advantage of the age of this domain. Do you recommend doing that or getting him a new domain ?

Why does everyone use bitly?
Why do people use bitly? I thought it was just a way to share a link on twitter if the link was too long in url. I see SeoMoz shares all their content with a bitly link. Even when they share it on Google+. Why?

Still Use Nofollow Home?
I was wondering how many of you are still nofollowing the Home button or anything else for that matter? I thought NoFollow was getting a little outdated, but I still see it lots of places. Thoughts?

Is it ok to just use the end of the url when using a Rel Cononical Link?
Hi, I am working with an account and the previous SEO used a Rel Canonical link that just uses the end of the url. Instead of the full url When I look it up on the web I see most people are using the full url. Is that the proper way to do it or does is suffice to just use the end of the url? Wanted to check before I take the time to change them all. -Kent
