Meta descriptions and conversion rates
-
Hi,
does there exist any good data on the correlation between the meta description and having the same text in the body text (as pre-ample in bold, for instance) and conversion rates?
-
I personally feel using the same text as the body would be lazy. It doesn't take long to come up with some unique content for descriptions and I feel it would be a nice move.
I have noticed a lot of companies including Telephone numbers within descriptions but have not tested this yet so that might be a nice idea for you.

Duplicate Descriptions
Hi, Our Woo Commerce store has about 30 product tags, of which a separate page is created for each, therefore needing the usual titles and descriptions adding. I want to know if the pages will be penalised if I 90% duplicate the 150 word description for product tags that have areas of overlap. How important is this? Thanks.

Why is an old meta description displaying in search results?
We launched a new version of our retail website in Dec. 2012. This included new content and new metadata. When our homepage displays in search results, it almost always displays with designated meta description - except when it's searched with the .com. In that case, an old version of our meta description (pre-Dec. 2012) is visible, though our current title displays. The old metadata isn't loaded anywhere in our content management system. What can we do to change this?

Optimal Alt Description Size
What is an optimal size for a description of an image without being penalized. In the past, I would put whole paragraphs in the alt and title tags. These were well structured sentences to avoid the "keyword stuffing." Just wondering whether any research has been done on this element.

Tons of Long-Tail Conversion Terms -- What Should We Do?
A friend of mine runs a website that recently got hit with Penguin. His site now longer has authority. But he does have a long list of very similar longtail phrases. Example: Dog Food for Cheap Cheap Dog Food Organic Dog Food Home Made Dog Food Dog Chow Organic Dog Chow Basically, these are all about the same thing. But, he'd love to write content that has the exact longtail phrase in the title.. but not over-stuff it. He feels that if he puts it on the same site, it might look too spammy in G's eyes. But how would one go about doing it? I realize he should "Theme" this info -- but what does that really mean? Its all kind of the same theme.. IS there a way to do it in wordpress with categories? Please -- we'd love your help. We are also curious about how to run ANY site in the post-penguin world without adding redundant content.

Tools to Eval Blog Content - Rate your Fav tool
Ok, so I know that is has been covered in depth and at the risk of being sent to “google it!” (Which I have done with no success) I thought that I would ask your opinions on the topic. What are the best content marketing evaluation tools? By this I am specifically referring to tools that evaluate the content of Blogs, etc and not the performance of the blog, etc. I’m eager to hear your thoughts of what works and if you care to share what tools did not. Thanks

Meta Title and Description Placement in Wordpress
I noticed in wordpress code that the <title>and <description> are not at the top of the code and rather located a ways down the code and not displayed how previous sites used to be.</p> <p>Does this still matter for SEO.</p> <p>I thought it should have been,</p> <div id="syn_row5" class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><<span class="HTML_ELM">title</span>></span><span class="HTML_TAG"></<span class="HTML_ELM">title</span>></span></span></div> <div class="SYN_ROW"> <div id="syn_row6" class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><<span class="HTML_ELM">meta</span> <span class="HTML_ATR">name</span>=<span class="HTML_VAL">"Description"</span> <span class="HTML_ATR">content</span>=<span class="HTML_VAL">""</span> /></span></span></div> <div class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"> <div id="syn_row6" class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><<span class="HTML_ELM">meta</span> <span class="HTML_ATR">name</span>=<span class="HTML_VAL">"Keywords"</span> <span class="HTML_ATR">content</span>=<span class="HTML_VAL">""</span> /> (if still needed ?)</span></span></div> <div class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"> </span></span></span></span></div> <div class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG">Is there a way to do this in Wordpress? Dashes / Slashes / Full Spots in Meta Tile.
Hello, I have a question how about how google sees dashes, slashes, full stops etc. I am new to SEO so this might be dumb. I sell refurbished printer parts. The majority of people search for the part number in google. A typical part number might be "04.F5/S3A YA50" . A customer might search for "04F5S3A YA50" or "04.F5/S3AYA50" or "04.F5/S3A YA50" or "04.F5/S3A-YA50". They aren't radically different but seem to effect the rankings. At the moment I use the following stucture for the meta tiles, descriptions etc 04.T5/S3A YA50 (04T5S3AYA50) by OEM | mysite Buy refurbished OEM 04.T5/S3A YA50 (04T5S3AYA50). Free next day delivery. 12 month warrnanty on all parts. www.mysite/4F5S3AYA50 Part number (Part number no spaces) by OEM | Mysite Generic text Part number (Part number no spaces) text www.mysite/(Part number no spaces My questions, should I try to include all the different ways a customer might search for a part number in my meta title, description, url etc. Or should I try to include within the content of the page. Many thanks
