What do the mozzers think about this site of mine?
-
Hello SEO MOzzers, I am today wanting your feedback on a site that I recently went live with. My Google rankings for the main keywords are doing very well considering the site has been live for 3 weeks now. I of course have a list of items that i'm still working on, completing meta description tags, title tags, adding copy content to category pages, updating h1 tags, working on our backlinking campaign, etc.
The site is www.profitness-supplies.com
Let me know what you think Mozzers

Few things;
- Still says Copyright 2011
- Your Analytics Code should be BEFORE the closing head tag, not after
- Your homepage loads as a duplicate at http://www.profitness-supplies.com/index.php - this should redirect back to the normal homepage address
- http://www.profitness-supplies.com/index.html should also redirect to the homepage
- You may want to add the FaceBook open graph tags to the head of every page (helps when people click like button)
- You're disallowing a lot of user pages with robots.txt but this should really be done with the robots meta tag only (which I see you are doing)
- The square links on the homepage are only on the images, but you may want to include the anchor text in the <a>links to get some anchor text relevance. </a>
<a></a>
<a>I think the site is pretty good overall, don't mean to pick out just issues, but I assume you want to make it better

I like it. Looks clean and professional from a users perspective. It does need more 'social proof' with higher FB fans, etc to appear more popular thus convert better.
Personally though, I would just display just the fan count and not that bigger widget you have on the homepage. It takes too long to load and perhaps there are other stuff (testimonials?) that you could display that better helps the conversions.
Also, do you really need +1 buttons on product pages? I think product page is too important to have flashy colorful social buttons that could distract the potential buyer in this critical stage - of course, social buttons at this point are suitable if your product is super-social in nature (Funny Tees, etc). Besides, how much % of your users do you think would use Google+ as of today? I am pretty sure it will be far from significant.
From a SEO standpoint ~ I like the simple/ neat URL structure and the title and meta tags seem be well optimized. It's not too long or too short and seem to be covering the key phrases. I'd suggest using more textual content on the pages though just to reaffirm to bots what the pages are about.

Site dropped from SERP
Hello, I've been ranking a site for the last 5 months with good success, ranking on the first page for a high traffic keyword. In the beginning of September however, my site completely dropped out of the SERPs for several of those keywords yet my site was still indexed and there was no penalty applied to my site via search console. I would assume this maybe because of the update during the time.My site came back again a week later and it was ranking much higher on the first page (#2). Today, I just checked the SERPs and my site is now gone again. It was there this morning but now as of two hours ago it is gone, as well as one of my main competitors. My site is still indexed and no penalties via search console. Does anyone know what causes these types of issues? Im assuming my site will come back in a week or so with hopefully the same or better ranking, but when I have disruptions like this it really hurts my organic traffic. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Why are these blackhat sites so successful?
Here's an interesting conundrum. Here are three sites with their respective ranking for "dental implants [city]:" http://dentalimplantsvaughan.ca - 9 (on google.ca) http://dentalimplantsinhonoluluhi.com - 2 (on google.com) http://dentalimplantssurreybc.ca - 7 (on google.ca) These markets are not particularly competitive, however, all of these sites suffer from: Duplicate content, both internally and across sites (all of this company's implant sites have the same exact content, minus the bio pages and the local modifier). Average speed score. No structured data No links And these sites are ranking relatively quickly. The Vaughan site went live 3 months ago. But, what's boggling my mind is that they rank on the first page at all. It seems they're doing the exact opposite of what you're supposed to do, yet they rank relatively well.

What do you think of this reconsideration request?
Just about to send a reconsideration request to Google for my site: seoco.co.uk and would like your input. I was going to include information about each URL I found and the steps I have taken but there is not room. What do you think of this: “Hi guys, i got an unnatural links message from you back in February and since then my website rankings have fallen dramatically. I spoke to someone at SEOmoz and they said that my website probably got penalised for directory links so I have gone out and tried to get rid of all the low quality ones that I am responsible for and some that I am not. Altogether I was able to identify about 218 low quality directory links. I attempted to contact every one of the directory owners twice over a two week period and I was able to get about 68 removed. I have used the disavow tool to devalue the rest. Trying to get rid of all of those bad links was hard work and I have definitely learned my lesson. Rest assured I will not be submitting to anymore directories in the future. Please can you give me another chance? If my site still violates the guidelines please could you point out some of the bad links that are still there?” What do you think? Can you think of anything else I should say? Dave

Moving an eCommerce Site to Wordpress
I'm evaluating moving an established eCommerce I own over to a WordPress based site with a woocommerce plugin. My question is, does the added /category/ slug hurt SEO rankings at all?

Removing links from another site
Hello, Some site that I have never been able to access as it is always down has over 3,000 links to my website. They disappeared the other week and our search queries dramatically improved but now they are back again in Google Webmaster and we have dropped again.I have contacted the site owner and got no response and I have also put in a removal form (though I am not sure this fits for that) and asked Google to remove as they have been duplicating our content also. It was in my pending section but has now disappeared. This links are really damaging our search and the site isnt even there. Do I have to list all 3,000 links in the link removal to Google or is there another way I can go about telling them the issue.Appreciate any help on this

ECommerce site - Duplicate pages problem.
We have an eCommerce site with multiple products being displayed on a number of pages. We use rel="next" and rel="prev" and have a display ALL which I understand Google should automatically be able to find. Should we also being using a Canonical tag as well to tell google to give authority to the first page or the All Pages. Or was the use of the next and prev rel tags that we currently do adequate. We currently display 20 products per page, we were thinking of increasing this to make fewer pages but they would be better as this which would make some later product pages redundant . If we add 301 redirects on the redundant pages, does anyone know of the sort of impact this might cause to traffic and seo ?. General thoughts if anyone has similar problems welcome

SEO value of an on-site hosted blog
We are in the process of upgrading our blogging capability. Our preference would be to host a Wordpress blog under our site url. However due to our technical set up we've found out that it isn't possible to put Wordpress onto our servers so we'll need to go with a hosted version. Does anyone have any idea or examples of how this could affect our SEO performance? Also - is Wordpress the best tool - seems to be the most popular! Thanks. Jon

Local business with multiple sites
I'm auditing a local business' sites (a spa) and I wanted to run my recommendations by everyone. There are 3 sites: www.sitename1.com -- main store location, used for Google Places listing #1 www.sitename2.com -- 2nd store location, used for Google Places listing #2 www.sitename3.com -- used for product sales for both locations Sitename1.com has the most ranking power. I'm going to recommend that they move sitename2.com and sitename3.com to sitename1.com as subfolders, 301 redirecting each page to the corresponding page on sitename1.com/subfolder. Google Places listing #2 would be changed from www.sitename2.com to www.sitename.com/location2. Any risks or problems with this strategy anyone can see?
