How to create a SEO Package
-
Hi,
I am looking to create some packages to offer clients. To say that we will do...
-
XXX Backlinks
-
XXX Social Bookmarking
-
XXX Article Submissions
etc etc
But how do I go about creating these packages, to make sure that they are fair and worthwhile.
How do you know how much of each you should offer?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

We also only do custom 'packages' as no one package is going to work for our different client needs and budgets- we work on an hourly charge out and set up a strategy to be worked through. We find that a lot of our competitors who offer packages offer really unattainable / unreasonable promises, rather than try to grab part of that market we make a point of being and working differently and that's what our clients like about us. On how much to charge, how long will it take to do xxx, what's the hourly rate you need to charge to cover costs etc... And that should be a reasonable amount. Your costs may not be competitive, we cant do 80hr for $2000 which is what some of our direct competitors offer- so we stick to what we do well and work on making that market bigger. Maybe sell 'no packages' as your quality point of difference.

Hi Stephen, I agree with what you are saying. What I have found though is that there are a few companies offering this as a "top up" so to speak as a package for exisiting sites. As I said before as standard we do not do this and do look into what the client is looking to achieve before coming up with something
Im more curious to see what people think is this good or bad? If good, how would you go about it?
Cheers

Normally you find out what your client needs to achieve and them work out what its going to cost to deliver that
Just saying "I build you X links", without taking into consideration any of the multitude of things you should, means you don't really deliver anything of value for your clients
I get the feeling that giving advice would only land some poor company with terrible SEO. Have a read through SEOmoz and then re-ask the question

True point, I was in 2 minds whether to post or not, however I am curious to see how people go about creating packages, as we don't usually create set packages for a businesses to purchase, we create custom and one off packages to the necessary requirements of the customer. So intrigued to see if anyone has any good advice on this.
Good advice though

This is probably going to be an unpopular answer among current SEO's, but it's a part of competitive business. You should get some proposals from SEO's in your local competing area and see what they are doing and what they are offering. It unfortunately creates some work for the competing company, however... it does shed some light on the situation and allows you to be competitive.

Community Discussion: The hardest (& most surprisingly valuable) thing you've gone through for your SEO career?
In the comment discussion for Thursday's blog post, An Essential Training Task List for Junior SEOs, there's been mild debate around some of the items, such as having a Junior SEO build a website by hand. It's a fantastic comment discussion (the kind that makes a blog manager's heart sing), and it's got me thinking. We've all gone through the wringer when it comes to boosting our careers. Heck, I was a poetry major and found myself learning SQL last week. What hurdles have you jumped that have been painful and challenging, but have taken your career to the finish line? Maybe even gotten you the gold?* What would you recommend to newbies just starting out (or warn them about)? *Yeah, I got Olympic about it. I went there. 🙂

Re-writing articles, how does this effect SEO?
Hi there, I noticed a competitor had re-created a couple of articles I wrote, but they made reference back to me in the article, can in anyway possible myself or their site be penalised for duplicate content? The article isn't completely copied word for word, however it is definitely shows some similarity. Any advice around this? Thank you in advance

Best Site or Place to Hire Mid Level SEO Specialists
Hello Mozzers, Our digital agency has been continuously growing which is a good thing BUT recruiting for Junior or Mid Level SEO Specialists is getting harder in our area (we are in Orlando Florida). We post on Indeed.com but the level of knowledge and also the amount of candidates is not a lot. Do you know any other site that only pertains to our industry? Any suggestions? In fact, its been hard , we are even thinking of developing a job board site just for our niche. Your recommendation and thoughts?

Anyone know of any forums for agencies or those individuals engaged in Internet Marketing, SEO, Integrated Marketing, etc.?
Moz.com is the best forum I have been a part of. There is a local forum I really like but spend less time on (we have staff who live on it.) I am interested in a forum where everyone is agency related. Does anyone know of a good one? If not, would anyone have an interest?

Great SEO Agency
Hi again all, I have appreciated all the help from the community as we are rebuilding our site. Currently we are looking for a great SEO consulting firm to help us with a number of key SEO related tasks and strategies. I have looked through the recommended list MOZ provides: http://moz.com/community/recommended, but I wanted to get everyone's take on who they thought was the "best" - on that list or otherwise. We are looking for an agency that can help us optimize the site, create an ongoing strategy, help with link building, help with sitemap creation and management (5 million + pages, primarily dynamic) and possibly help with content. Anyone have recommendations they could share? Thanks David

Has anyone been to SMX or any other SEO Conference?
Hello All, I have been given the opportunity to go to several conferences. But like most SEO guys, I have a tone of work, and need to use my time sparingly. The one conference that has peaked my interest is SMX. I was wondering if anyone has been to SMX before and if they recommend it. Also if anyone has any other conferences they would recommend, preferrably on the east coast, that would be interesting please let me know. Any answers are appreciated. Thank you.

Secondshells.com has $3k a month to spend on SEO & marketing. HOW should I spend it & with whom?
We have a Magento based ecommerce site www.secondshells.com and are looking for ways to improve traffic. Our goal is to drive sales of our products. We are in the Android tablet accessory business, since its fairly new the competition is not that great, we would like to get up in organic rankings for our keywords. We have blog updated daily, building backlinks, PR, facebook, twitter, google+, Videos on Youtube, PPC, product feeds to Bing, Google & The Find. The foundation is there but it's a lot to handle in-house. The real question is who to choose to execute the strategy & where to pick them from. There are 1,000's of companies, individuals, Elance & Odesk. Who to choose to execute is more difficult than choosing the direction. We are straightforward and intelligent and want people who can provide a plan of action, execute and report it. All white hat seomoz style of promotion. There are so many choices and avenues to pursue that it is difficult to make a decision as to which way to go. Any guidance or suggestions will be appreciated. SecondShells

Recommended marketplace for SEO
Hi Mozzers! With the shut down of the SEOMoz marketplace what are some other resources for finding people to help with SEO tasks? Craigslist seems like the best resource for this, but are there any other good ones?
