Where do you Peoples Get Keyword Ideas?
-
Hey everybody,
I thought I would get your opinions on the sites where you like to mine keyword phrases.
Before determining competition, I like to get ideas from the Adwords Tool, Keyword Optimizer Pro (a Google suggest scraper), Insights, Trends, and by looking at the phrases competitors are optimized for.
How about you guys?

Doing research on this right now. Given the vast majority of free tools have query limitations. The following appears at present to be the strongest solutions:
free - https://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/searches, http://soovle.com, http://ubersuggest.org, http://keywordsuggest.org/, http://www.google.com/trends/
free & paid solution - http://www.keywordeye.com $9.99 pro per month
free 10 day trial - longtailpro.com
quality paid solutions - http://www.semrush.com $79.95 per month, http://www.wordtracker.com $69 per month,
Some of the paid services functionality overlap moz.com so it would not be worth paying just for just a keyword suggestion/scraper tool in my opinion.

I have been using Long Tail Pro for a while, and the results are good.

Wow...multi-talented!

I start with my brain and then use adwords keyword tool to set priorities. If you know your content area well then that should be enough to do the job.
If you don't know the content niche then snoop some competitor sites - the ones that you think are the most successful and dominating the SERPs.

Jared,
As I got my coffee and realized the news of the world had not changed I opened up the computer and saw your question. I immediately thought of one not mentioned in your list: WordTracker. I just started using it so jury is out and I still like keywords tool. James Norquay did a nice post on youmoz on advanced keyword research that is worth the read.
Before I wrote a response to your question I was struck by how it was Christmas and I was looking at work. But, it really isn't work to me. (And we do our celebrating on Christmas Eve for any who think I may be a Grinch). So, I started writing about keywords and Christmas. Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.
As the family rises for Christmas,,,much slower than me,
I jump on the moz to see what could be key.
One clients a lawyer, another sells skis,
I just gotta wonder what words will be keys?To find one a case or the other a sale,
Then my clients smile brighter, and don't send me hate mail.
My PPC group has it easy you see,
Just send them some money as leads they aren't free!I tell clients slow down, analyze and take heed,
If you slow down a bit - less money you'll need.
I understand well, you just want it now,
but you gave me a field, and it has to get plowed.
It's a field full of holes and rocks, and nothing that matches.
but we'll find a way when an idea catches. Then you'll call me brilliant, "those records he smashes!!"
But it just took some digging so your money's not ashes.
Then back to the moz, to Shah, to Ryan, to EGOL, and associate's one through thirty three,
Gianluca, Rand, Keri, Alan, Cyrus, don't forget Dr. Pete,Some I didn't name cause my wife's coming down the stairs,
When she sees me at 'work', it will be stares!
But thanks SEOmozzers for the help small and in batches,
More questions tomorrow about words and matches!!It so easy for the others, NUMBER ONES GUARANTEED!!
But with me and you Mozzers
Next year's guaranteers, damn well better take HEED!
**Wishing each of you a wonderful, prosperous, New Year. ** -
Adwords tool for me also. Once signed in you get 800 results which is more than enough to get going with. Used to use Wordze but the less said about the quality of their results these days, the better!

What defines what words in a title are considered Keywords?
Hi, sorry if this is a silly question. I'm curious how keywords are defined. Is every word in a title a possible keyword? If I have a keyword titled "Linear Shower Drain | 40" Long", does it take the whole thing as a keyword? Is just "Linear Shower Drain" the keyword? Would "Shower Drain" pop up as a keyword, since its nested in the title? Thank you in advance for your answers!

Exact keyword match on a page is dead. Is this right??
Hi, I read that you should give up on using exact keywords on a page if it means that the written content flows better. I just want your thoughts on this please because I don't want to miss opportunities. The keywords used are an example: SEO LONDON is the high vol./popular keyword that I want a page to rank for. Would I use that as the main keyword throughout the page, even though it doesn't really make sense (by this I mean you'd never really use this term other than typing it into google)? Or should I use something that makes more sense such as, 'SEO IN LONDON' or LONDON SEO? Would Google overlook the 'IN' in 'seo in london' so it's seen as 'SEO London'? (Same sort of question for LONDON SEO). If this is the case then why does google still show 1000 hits for SEO LONDON and just 100 for SEO IN LONDON? This makes me think that I should just target the exact keyword that people are typing even if it doesn't look natural. Best, James

Keywords for homepage and product categories
My homepage explains the different electrical equipment our company sells, our main product category page also does the same but in more detail. I'm stuck where I feel the homepage and product category page need to be optimised for the same keyword except the homepage needs to be optimised for our company name too. Was anyone else in the same situation as me and how did you choose the right keyword between two pages that have the same message?
