Finding Good Content Writers
-
I have a small but growing SEO company. I don't have in house content writers...where is a good place to find good content writers? Please help! Thanks.
-
Thanks for the information. I will check out People per Hour. I have used guru.com and elance.com, but wanted other places to find good people.
-
People per hour worked for me. Also, i have found them on twitter.
One piece of advice, quality check the work prior to publishing any of it. I recently had a few hundred articles written and discovered about 25% were duplicated as the guy sub contracted the work to another 'cheaper' writer.

Agree with the uni students. We tested/hired a couple from journalism backgrounds. Great writers with a passion for their craft.
-
You can try the following:
-
Hire a student fresh out of uni.
-
go to uni and say you are looking for an intern.
-
hire and established writer.
-
Look for niche blog in your sector and ask for content writers.
-
Overall finding a good writer can be done in many places you just need to test them before you hire them with some basic content work too see the style.

-
www.oDesk.com! Remember, you can find contractors there everywhere in the world. You can even find Americans! Make sure they can write good English. You can even track their hours and see their desktop so you know they aren't goofing off.
-
I've used textbroker before with good results.
As with any service like this, you get your good and your bad - so start with a smaller project and if they are good, bookmark them and they are usually very keen for more work.
I've had a lot of on-site content written through this site.
-
Twitter. You only need to find one decent copywriter as they tend to hang around in groups.
And depending on subject matter you can also try hiring bloggers.
-
Hi Kollin,
I've tried a number of the big outsourcing sites for copywriters, and the best I've found have come from People Per Hour, by quite a distance. Be realistic with your budget, check for samples/portfolio & you should have no troubles finding some good quality reliable writers.
Hope that helps!

Duplicate listings content
I've been listing our business on various business and wedding directories most of which require a short description of the business. I've written up a "boilerplate" description which is fairly similar to one we have on the site. If I use this content on multiple listings sites will it cause me issues with google seeing it as duplicate content and finding it difficult to decide which pages to rank? Most of these sites are supplier directories so I don't expect people to site search them for our business they are much more likely to browse categories but will it affect organic results for our actual website? Should I be writing a different piece of copy for each listing which requires a company description to avoid any issues?

Content: Best Blogs Article
Hello, For an Ecommerce site, I think a good way to get known is to write a "Best X Blogs" article, where X is a topic in your industry, and then letting the people you link to know about the article. I got the idea from a Mozinar. My question is, how close does the X from above have to be in your niche? For example, if your product is running shoes can you write a "best athlete blogs" article? I'm worried about them reading the article, then leaving. In some smaller niches the topics closest to the product don't have much in the way of blogs out there. So how close to your niche does the Best X Blogs topic have to be?

How Google judge about duplicate content?
With recent Search engines updates one thing is clear we cannot ignore content. Content marketing definitely going to be most important part of our SEO strategy. I have few doubts about content marketing (circulation of content over web) where I want suggestions of community members. There would be different thoughts so I would like to have as many as responses to know what majority thinks: When we are writing guest posts, does article needs to be unique with each and every blog we are writing or we can safely circulate one good piece of content to 10-15 blogs who are interested in our creative. We have written a good blog post for our own domain. Apart from social sharing should it be posted to other related blogs too or it should be unique to our domain only. Social sharing, mentions, like of blog matters in rankings?Seems yes they do but need to know what majority thinks. Finally what is the safe number to circulate your content over web.

How to organize content for ecommerce site
Hello, We've decided to create 24 articles of content for our ecommerce site, everything from an FAQ to history of the products to 10 articles on the top 10 products. Really useful to the user. How do you suggest that we make our content visible to the users? We could put a nice button on our right banner that says "Extensive Help Session" or we could put a banner on our home page or we could make it a tab at the top of the screen. We could additionally make a well organized footer with links to the articles. Or we could do all of those but that might be overkill. What do you suggest?

Define: Good Content
I am curious to hear what you guys consider to be the characteristics of good content and in which order if you have a preference. Here are a few I can think of: Informative (you can learn something new) Substantial (enough of it and thorough) Complete (doesn't give half-baked information or ideas) Unique (not regurgitated original content) Helpful (practical actionable information) Visual (content complemented by media) Referenced (claims made are substantiated through citations) Entertaining (or otherwise emotional, e.g. surprising, sad, shocking, controversial) Formatted (easy to read and follow) Timely (right content at the right time, applies for news) Professional (writing style, grammar, spelling and sentence structure) Can you add to this list?
