Having issues claiming a Google+ Business page (phone number not associated with business address)
-
When attempting to claim my Google+ account, it asks for the phone number. When I enter the number listed on my business listing, it says that number cannot be found... It then tells me to re-enter all my business info. If I do this, will I lose all my existing photos, videos etc.?
Has anyone found this?

Hi StrathcomMedia,
I'll answer the easier part of your question first, regarding missing reviews. Unfortunately, Google's handling of reviews has been one of the weakest aspects of their participation in Local. I could link you to thousands of posts and threads on this from the past half decade, but rather than do that, I'll just link to this recent post by Mike Blumenthal describing the current issues with reviews in Google+ Local:
http://blumenthals.com/blog/2012/07/30/google-local-and-review-issues/
My advice to you about reviews and Google is that you should immediately copy any review you get because it's quite possible it will disappear at some point, at which point, you can put the copied review on your own website as a testimonial.
Now to the more complex part of your question: your difficulties claiming your Google+ Local page. What is the exact error message you are getting. Please, copy it here and I will return to this thread. Thanks!

Yes. That's what has happened in the past. Once we've claimed it we were able to manage it. However it is doing what I explained above. We aren't able to manage it.
I'm wondering if anyone else has been having this issue & if they know what could be potentially causing this error.
Thanks

Yes. If you've already claimed it, you just need to log into the Google account you used to initially create the account and you can make changes there.
-
Yes. All the Google Places pages were claimed and now its asking us to claim the Google+ version... which is weird in my opinion. Shouldn't we just have control over it as it was previously claimed?
-
Have you previously claimed a Google Places page for the business?
-
The issue we are having is that when we go to claim & manage the page it asks us to enter the phone number of the business which was already on the old Google Places page.. now converted to Google+ page. When we enter the phone number an error pops up saying that this phone number isn't associated with any previously entered Google Places address so its prompting us to create a new page.
However we do not want to create a new page we want to manage the old page which has all our videos & such which were previously posted on the Google Places page.
We don't want to lose all our stuff by creating a new page. INCLUDING reviews.
Also, At times we have had issues with some of our reviews not being accessible once the page was converted to a + page.
Has anyone else had either of these issues?
Thanks so much!

For me, it's been a good year since I've been able to enter a phone number at that first stage and the system has actually pulled the business that corresponds with that number.
You're talking about losing your existing photos & videos, so that makes it sound like have already set up a Google+ Local page/Google Places page. So why are you going through the process of creating a new one?

Traffic cut-off since Google core update
Hi all, I am the webmaster of www.chepicap.com/en (Cryptocurrency news), and since the 3rd of june (Google core algorithm update) we got the hammer from Google. Organic traffic dropped with 90%+ overnight. We are still in the dark whether we can do to improve the current situation. Does someone have suggestions regarding this issue?

How Google distinguish and ignore keyword attested with or in a brand?
Hi community, Generally there will be a primary keyword which everybody concentrates and expect their homepage or website to rank for....like "seo" for seo consulting or seo tools. There might be some companies with this keyword in their brand name like "ABC SEO". So this primary keyword will be all over the website being part of the brand name; especially in page titles and header tags. How Google distinguish and ignores this keyword in brand name to avoid giving more ranking boost to such websites? Will this keyword will be completely ignored being the part of the company name or their domain name? How Google distinguish between a generic keyword and keyword in company name? Thanks

What are the top tips for winning on Google, Bing, and Yahoo?
We just launched a new site that is starting to be indexed well in Google, but Bing and Yahoo are lagging a bit. I understand that the search engines are different algorithms and will take different lengths of time to index, rank, etc. What I'm curious about is are there any other tips / advice / things to keep in mind when trying to rank on the different search engines? Thanks!!

Wordpress Canonical Tag Pointing to Same Page
So I noticed on a few of my clients wordpress tags (via moz) that there are canonical tags on URLs, pointing to that same URL. What is the point of that, and is it harming the website? Is this being done automatically via a plugin? Should I remove the canonical tags or leave as is?

Why do in-site search result pages rank better than my product pages?
Maybe this is a common SERP for a generic product type but I'm seeing it a lot more often. Here is an example SERP "rolling stools". The top 4 results are dynamic in-site search pages from Sears, ebay and Amazon (among others). I understand their influence and authority but why would a search return a dynamic in-site SERP instead of a solid product page. A better question would be - How do I get my in-site SERPs to rank or how do I get my client's page to rise above the #5 spot is currently ranks at? Thanks

Why am I getting different Google SERP result for same keywords?
Hi Mozzers, I have noticed recently that Google (.com.au) has been serving up different SERP results for the same keywords. For example, one of our main keywords is "Car Loan". One result will show our site as ranking #5 organically from 242,000,000 results. A refresh of this search will then result in our site not ranking at all from 133,000,000 results. We have been noticing this happen only in the last few days & more frustrating is that Google is throwing up the SERP from 133,000,000 results more frequently. Would anyone know why this is occurring? And what can we do, if anything, to ensure we are shown regardless of how many results Google calls from? Is it from recent algo update & will it settle down over time? Any help would be greatly appreciated. (Just to add - I'm not gogged in to Google when completing this test & regularly clear cookies etc so I don't believe its a personalised search issue)

Did Google Just Punish Organic For Showing Up In Local?
Google pushed the local search results in a prominent spot on a ton of search results. That means (for me) that all first page rankings (including a lot of 1st place rankings) have completely disappeared. Subfolders still rank and homepage still ranks where local search is not included. This is weird. Is this a glitch or is there something we can do about this?
