Panda 3.8 and Google query report
-
Today I was plugging the SEOMoz Google change log into my analytics and noticed that our site took an impression jump (30%) on the day Panda 3.8 was released but also, if I'm reading the chart right, a drop in keyword avg. ranking. Does this make any sense or am I misunderstanding the chart?
-
Haha, yeah - I imagine it's something like "Average Position is the average of the keyword positions over time. Also, see 'Mean Position'."
-
That's a good idea. The "help" on this section of analytics is a whole one sentence long.
-
Yeah, that is weird. I'm honestly not sure if average position is by unique keyword or keyword volume. In other words, maybe you gained position on a couple of head terms that produce a ton of impressions, but lost position on a bunch of long-tail terms. So, average position across unique keywords would fall, but you'd still gain traffic, because the loss was mostly on low-traffic keywords.
You'd have to dive into the keywords and/or segment them (head, long-tail, etc.) to see for sure.
-
I plugged in the panda updates in Google Analytics and then ran the Traffic Sources > SEO > Queries report with Avg. Position as the second metric.
-
Lol, no idea whats going on there! Where did you decide to use this - is there an external reference?
Sometimes you can compare two things but they dont actually say anything meaningful

Google Search Console
To the Moz Community, Should we be considering the information that Google Search Console is telling us? It is showing a dramatic drop in our SEO and our pages are not being indexed, however it is showing differently in our Moz Analytics section. Any clarification will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Dawn

How to Analysis which category gives me more revenue from google analytic?
Hello Experts, For Ecommerce site we do have navigation path like Main Category - Subcategory - Products. That means Men as Main Category and then subcategory Cloths, shoes, bags then product in each subcategory. After implementing enhance ecommerce https://developers.google.com/tag-manager/enhanced-ecommerce#product-clicks I am getting this report - "Product Category (Enhanced E-commerce)" in Product Performance section. Now my query is my all products are linked with sub category i.e. cloths, shoes, bags etc so in Product Category (Enhanced E-commerce) I can see Revenue, transaction related to Cloths, shoes, bags etc but how to judge performance of Main categories like Men, Women, Children etc? Because google works with this method i think - name': productObj.name, // Name or ID is required.

Save a Google Analytics account
We recently started with a client who has Google Analytics already installed on their current site, but they have no idea the account login for it? Is there anyway to transfer ownership of this just based on the code?

Why does Google dislike us so?
Hi all, Over the past 18 months one of the sites I look after, www.english-inns.co.uk, has taken a massive dip in Google rankings (as per the graph attached). To give you an idea of what the site is about, we're effectively the largest directory of inns in England and have a mixture of exclusive offers direct from member inns but also have some affiliate links thrown into the mix. In terms of steps taken to remedy our falling out of grace with Google, these have included: A complete website redesign Removal of any duplicate content 'Adding value' by including interactive maps, better search functionality, promoting exclusive offers, etc. Unfortunately none of this seems to have helped our situation and we are now sitting at some pretty horrible places in Google's SERP's. For example, even for the keyphrase "english inns" we only rank #5 and this is a term associate with our brand! Perhaps I'm missing something obvious here... can anyone see any glaring issues with the site? Any help would be most appreciated Mozzers. Cheers google-analytics.png

Google Analytics and DNS change
Our new alumni application is going be tested at domain uva.imodules.com . We are going to collect traffic data with a Google analytics account number UA-884652-XX. So going to uva.imodules.com/myPage.html would send its data to Google Analytics with that account number. Then when it is ready for production we are going to just change the domain name of the application and switch the DNS over to dardencommunity.darden.virginia.edu . So going to dardencommunity.darden.virginia.edu /myPage.html would send its data to Google Analtics with that SAME account number. Aside from having the testing domain data in the same profile are there any other issues/problems we may run into?

How to create an advanced segmentation for Google+?
Hey Mozzers, I have a question regarding Google Analytics. The problem: I have created advanced segments for Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc. They all work fine... Now I am trying to create something similar for Google+ (since soon we are launching a campaign for it and I want to be able to check the evolution fast and effective). My advanced segments look like: Include -> Source -> Matching RegExp -> (Facebook|Youtube|Twitter) How should the Google+ be inserted into the group? I know this question might be easy for some advanced Analytics users but I am stuck at this point. Any help appreciated! Thanks in advance! Istvan
