Hi,
Is this the way to setup a hub page:
How about using the TOP horizontal menu with this options:
1 inch thick filter
2 inches thick filters
4 inches thick filters
5 inches thick filterseach option in the menu with a dropdown menu and 30 sizes option.
example:
1 inch filter>>20x20x1 furnace filterswhen selecting 20x20x1, the will land on a page with a product option and select the options quality they want to buy.
QUESTIONS:
- all my products descriptions are the same, the only difference is the filter size.
Shopper are searching for there furnace filters sizes first, then they will select the quality options.
Do you have any suggestions on How to improve my site architecture?
Thank you for your help,
BigBlaze

Hi! I thought I recognized this thread
Yes, I am the culprit of the "hub page" suggestion.
I call a page a "hub page" if it functions like the center of a wheel with a bunch of spokes attached to it. Okay, so for example, you have a store selling sweaters. All of your seaters have a specific part number based on size, color and style. You have some choices. You could create a separate page for every part number. However, this quickly becomes a daunting task for you, and an impossible site to navigate for your customers because you could have 200 separate product pages all for the same sweater, with the only difference being size and color.
Instead, you could create a "parent" page that is just for this one particular style of sweater. You create "children" pages for all the possible sizes and colors. You then allow your customer to select size and color either via dropdown menus, charts or whatever seems best for a particular product. You set all these product pages as either "children" of the parent product or attach their part number to specific options, so that when that option is chosen that part number goes in the cart. The customer never actually sees an individual product page for that color and size of sweater, it simply exists in the back end as a means of allowing your customer to pick specific items from your inventory.
So, you see, because you created (technically) separate product pages, you technically have a whole bunch of URLs but all circling around or connected to the parent page. The individual part number "pages" are like spokes on a wheel connected to a parent "hub" page.
Now, all that being said...a hub page on a content site can follow the same principle, however for completely different reasons. This even happens in e-commerce. For example, say you sell clothing. On your site, you also have size charts. From every clothing page you link to your size chart page. In that case your size chart page becomes a "hub." Hub pages tend to outrank other pages because you are pointing to them with lots of your pages, indicating to both visitors and search engines that they are somehow especially significant.
So, on the one hand a hub page can be used for online merchandising, on the other it can be used as an important reference point for visitors. The simplest version of a hub page would probably be a main category page on a Website.
This is really my own viewpoint. I have had extremely good results ranking well for hub pages. I am interested to know what others think and how they explain the concept.

How realistic is it to get to googles first page
Hello, I cannot say what my website it for, as it is very unique ( or will be for the next 4-6 months ). I am currently developing this site now with the view to launch next month. I will be doing every bit of on-site SEO as possible. Spending countless late nights perfecting it, referring to MOZ checklists and blogs. When the site goes live my team of 4 will be constantly marketing/SEO for around 5 hours each a day. Things like doing guest blogs, normal blog posts, link building .... essentially all aspects that need to be covered. As well we are consulting with an SEO company to help us too. I have 1 main keywords which I need to rank for ( I can't show these ). This keyword has a 62% keyword difficulty, however, the website with number 1 position for this keyword only has 8 Domain Authority and 23 page authority. Given the fact 4 of us will be doing non-stop of-site SEO, aswell as paying an SEO company and in general my content and site structure will be a lot more releveant for the user. Is it possible for me to rank in the top page of google within 3 months of launch, and become rank 1/2 after 4-5 months? Thanks

What is the easiest and most scalable way to add links from one page to a related page entry?
We have a Spanish language reference site, and want to link related entries to each other. For example, the entry for "home" can link to the page with the entry for "home away from home." What is the best and most efficient way to do this at scale?

Is it Possible for an Internal Page to Rank for Various Terms Based ONLY on Blogging Anchor Text?
Hi everyone, Our company provides about 6 different services, each with a specific page on our website: 1. Accept ACH Payments (/accept_ach_payments.html) 2. Client Management & Billing Software (/customer_management.html) 3. Small Business Merchant Accounts (/small_business_merchant_account.html) etc etc Now, here's the question. One of our blogging strategies is to write content about how our online platform can help various types of businesses manage and grow their business. "5 Ways Fitness Business Can...." "How Law Firms Can Benefit...." etc In these blog posts, we don't specify our product, but we do link back into one of those main service pages, so I might link fitness management software to the Client Management & Billing Software (/customer_management.html) page as well as legal billing software to the same client management page Since there are so many different companies that could use our software, we don't want to include them on the Cl_i_ent Management & Billing Software page. That page is just about the benefits of the system and how it works as a great CRM. So....to make a long question short, are we able to rank the Client Management page for "fitness management software" and "legal billing software" if we don't use those terms on the "client management" page itself, and only use it as the anchor text when linking? Instead of making a separate page about how we can be used as a fitness management platform, we'd like our "client management" page to rank for various terms like "fitness management software" "legal billing software" "online church donation software" etc BUT, we don't want to bloat the client management page will all those other topics and content. Hope that makes sense, Patrick

Google RSS Feed News Feed To Inner Pages
Ive been working on a large ecommerce website that has thousands of pages, although we are working on adding custom content daily to the largest pages, we have "defaul content" with dynamic tags matching search query. Someone recommend we add a google Rss feed where they can also add some type of tag. Is this a bad idea? Ive asked in the past but my main concern is issue with duplicate content, It would be next to impossible to have all pages filled with custom content. Any help much appreciated!! Thank you!

Duplicate Pages Different Content
Will duplicate pages different content hurt rankings/seo E-commerce Site is plugin style with WYSIWYG editor allowing for full customization, all pages are setup with basic default content. Ive created custom pages with content/keywords to begin seo on them I have two pages www.domain.com/sports/hockey and www.domain.com/nhl-tickets The first url is default, with a single H1tag, + Default Meta+Title tags, the second is the content rich page, and structured properly, both of which show up on the site, should I block the first url from displaying at all? The reason I am asking is because ive also setup breadcrumb links, which makes all of these category url's accessible on the site, I cannot edit breadcrumb links, we can either have them there or remove them. Thank you Very Much!!

Should I put the date on a new content page to show users when it was written or updated?
I've been asked this question at work and not certain of the answer. Personally if I see an 'old' date in a meta description on Google I often scan for more recent articles. In other words it can act as a deterrent. We are a very big social networking site with a large content section. For some of our content the date might be relevant, such as legal information, but often it isn't. Are there any SEO factors in dating content?
