Hi, we are trying to rank this keyword "Human Resource Books" for Silvercreek.ca for a long time. But somehow, the keyword is not ranked by google at all. Is there  a reason why Google is denying our site? What did we do wrong? Can anyone help to see what wrong with tis siet www.silvercreekpress.ca?

      thanks

Excellent analysis! #6 and #7 are the big ones. Make sure your site is seen as relevant and get links from other relevant sites.

In GWT > Optimization > Content Keywords - this table will give you a gist of the kind of keywords on your site. If its not what you were expecting to see, you need to change your content.

There are quite a few reasons it's not ranking at the top of Google (.com or .ca)

          1. Spammy meta.  Your title contains the keyword twice. Google dislikes this and tends to use another title if possible. Since you haven't  used noodp/noydir, they're using whatever they deem suitable to the search.  Do a search for "silver creek press" and you'll see them change your title.  That's a hint that they don't like your own info.

          2. Spammy meta 2. You're using the meta keywords and have repeated your main keyword 11 times in the meta keyword tag.  Take it twice in the title + 11 times in keywords and that's not so good.  Especially since it appears only near the very end of your description.

          3. In Chrome if you do a "View Source" on your page, the keyword only appears at the very beginning (meta) and at the very end of the code.  Your page goes from line 7 to line 522 without mentioning "human resource" at all.  This would suggest that the actual page content is not necessarily about what you're telling Google it is about - thus not helping you.

          4. Your copyright tag is out of date. (2008-2010).  While some people disagree that this is a factor, and I don't know, IF it is, you're telling Google you haven't updated the page and don't maintain it.  Google ranks older pages that have been "let go" worse than they do new, updated sites.  At least, that's the theory.

          5. Your H1 doesn't include your keyword.  There is some evidence that H1 still matters.  Whether or not a larger sample would yield the same, I don't know.

          6. Your site does not support your main keywords.  Your "About" page should tell Google pretty clearly what you do.  The phrase "human resource" does not appear until after line 250.  Your meta tags for this page are very basic compared to the home page.  The keyword does not appear at all on your Books, eBooks, Discounts, Guarantee or  even your Resources page.

What that all means is the only page on your site that even remotely seems to be about "human resource" is your main page, which is meta-keyword stuffed but only includes relevant content 90% down the page and no other page on your site supports the main.  It's just a single point of data standing on its own.

          1. According to OSE, you have 10 linking domains with 265 links and no social shares to speak of.  One of your page one competitors, www.learn 4good.com, has 600 linking domains and 27,450 links.  www.cite hr.com on page 2 has 168 domains and 8264 links.  Your numbers just aren't anywhere close.

That's not everything, but that's where I would start.  Sorry for the long reply and hope it helps. 🙂

I see you on page 4 on google.ca for the term - http://www.google.ca/#q=human+resource+books&start=30

Not in top 100 for .com

Sooooo. the .ca domain is definitely helping you rank in G.ca so you are appearing in their SERPs. For the .com results, you will see that the competition isn't very easy. Many books.google, amazon and publisher results means that you need to build plenty of high authority links before you can expect to see any rankings.

The .ca domain is also hurting your changes of ranking high on the .com (international) search results.

SERPs started showing the incorrect date next to my pages

Hi Moz friends, I've noticed since Tuesday, November 9, half of my post's meta dates have changed in regards to what appears next to the post in the search results. Although published this year, I'm getting some saying a random date in 2010! (The domain was born in 2013; which makes this even more odd). This is harming the CTR of my posts and traffic is decreasing. Some posts have gone from 200 hits a day to merely 30. As far as on our end of the website, we have not made any changes in regards to schema markup, rich snippets, etc. We have not edited any post dates. We have actually not added new content since about a week ago, and these incorrect dates have just started to appear on Tuesday. Only changes have been updating certain plugins in terms of maintenance. This is occurring on four of our websites now, so it is not just specific to one. All websites use Wordpress and Genesis theme. It looks like only half of the posts are showing weird dates we've never seen before (far off from the original published date as well as last updated date -- again, dates like 2010, 2011, and 2012 when none of our websites were even created until 2013). We cannot think of a correlation as to why certain posts are showing weird dates and others the correct. The only change we can think of that's related is back in June we changed our posts to show Last Updated date to give our readers an insight into when we changed it last (since it's evergreen content). Google started to use that date for the SERPs which was great, it actually increased traffic. I'm hoping it's a glitch and a recrawl soon may help sift it around. Anybody have experience with this? I've noticed Google fluctuates between showing our last updated date or not even showing a date at all sometimes at random. We're super confused here. Thank you in advance!

              Google SERPs Show Different Title

Hi Guys, Can anyone please help with my situation. My domain is www.greedybins.com.au. I had title setup in every pages differently, and it has been 2 months since I made the changes. I keep checking by using site:www.greedybins.com.au in search. So far, only 1 title that been show correctly in SERPs. I used SEO Yoast before, I changed to All In One SEO Pack plugin, the titles are changing, but still not accurate as I made it. Somehow Google altered it by itself. I have tried fetch and submit sitemap couple times from Google Search Console. Could anyone please advise?

Google Webmaster Tools - content keywords containing spam?

Hi all, When I looked in Google Webmaster Tools today I found under the menu Google Index, Content Keywords, that the list is full of spammy keywords (E.g. Viagra (no. 1) and stuff like that) Around april we built a whole new website, uploaded a new xml-sitemap, and did all the other things Google Webmaster Tools suggest when one is creating a Google Webmaster Account. Under the menu "Security Issues" nothing is mentioned. All together I find it har d to believe that the site is hacked - so WHY is Google finding these content keywords on our site?? Should I fear that this will harm my SEO efforts? Best regards, Christian

Why are these internal pages not showing any internal links?

If you look at Author profile pages like this one, http://experts.allbusiness.com/author/denise-oberry (THE top contributor on the site with over 82 posts under her belt), or any Author profile page, they show zero internal links or Page Authority. The same goes for most posts for each author on the site. Author pages should show internal links from every post the author has on the site. And specific posts should also have internal links from categories, etc. Yet they show zero. The only posts that show internal links and PA are ones that were either syndicated to the root domain's homepage, or syndicated to Fox Small Business. ZERO internal links. Does anyone know why this is? The root domain does not act this way with Author pages and posts. And I see nothing blocking links or indexing via the robots.txt file or page level nofollow tags. A real head scratcher for this SEO nerd, that I'm sure someone here will have a really simple answer to.

LSI keywords logic - enter in meta and bold in text?

Hello, In the lack of good info about this on the Internet, let me try here. I know that it is a good idea to put LSI keywords in natural flow in the body text of the article. But shall I also put LSI keywords as a meta? In the same manner as doing with non-LSI keywords? Or shall I only reserve meta for non-LSI keywords? In body text, shall I emphasize LSI keywords in bold? As non-LSI keywords already does. This is a bit confusing as I don't wan't LSI keywords to take over show from my long tail (phrase) keyword. I will appreciate if someone could share a bit light over this. Thanks in advance!

HELP: Wrong domain showing up in Google Search

So i have this domain (1)devicelock.com and i also had this other domain (2)ntutility.com, the 2nd domain was an old domain and it is not in use anymore. But when i search for devicelock on Google, the homepage devicelock.com does not exist. Only ntutility.com comes up. I asked one of the developer how the redirect is happening from the old domain to the new one and he told me its through a DNS forward. And there is no way to have an .htacess file to set up a 301 instead. Please help!

Does a TM in the keyword have effect?

If I include TM in a keyword string, does this make it another keyword or does Google ignore that? Example: Kentucky Hot Sauce vs Kentucky Hot (TM) sauce. Of course the TM would be done properly via ™ Cheers.

Outranking a competitor when their domain name is the keyword

Hi I'd just like to ask the opinion of my fellow members here : We are currently ranking second for a very important keyword and would obviously like the top spot on the SERP - the site that is ranking first has the domain name as the keyword phrase(along with a good amount of quality links from a variety of domains) - now I know it is possible to outrank them since I do remember reading about this in one of Rands posts(I think it was the whole white hat black hat one he posted recently) - bascially we have more domain authority, slightly less links but from double the amount of root domains and a higher page authority too! Does having the keyword as your domain make THAT much of a difference when we are(imo) quite close in terms of great content and link profiles(and all the onpage factors) ? Thanks!
