How do I get our company press release more traffic?
-
We current gained a Major University as a client, for private cable operations.
The boss would like a press release he made distributed. How would any of you go about this?
Paid and Non paid services please. ; )
Thanks all!

Wow! Thanks guys! These are all extremely helpful. I think I will start with a sprinkle of the @EGOL meanwhile running with the @Takeshi, and finishing with some of the @Francisco method!
Awesome feed back guys, I am so glad I can fall back on my SEO Mozer Clan!

hmmm... I think that there is a very fine line between announcing good news, thumping your chest until you cough and spamming everyone in your industry.
Lots of people send these types of announcements out to everyone in their industry and anyone anywhere who has ever had a contact with their business. Your boss might like this but it will really make him look like a spammer. Ninety-nine percent of these people don't give a hoot.
So, I would ask the boss who he really wants to reach and what message he wants conveyed to them.
Press releases are valuable when they reach a few of the very right people... and they are spam to just about everyone else. So instead of thinking "more traffic", think about "reaching the right people with the right message".
Know what you are trying to shoot and aim before firing.

If it's for a major university, then they will definitely have a university newspaper. When I was at UCLA, there was a whole department of journalist there. If I were you, I would hit them up and get a nice back link.

PRWeb is the best paid press release service I've used, and you can get a decent PR link out of it
If you're actually looking to get news coverage, go to the websites for all your local newspapers, and look for their e-mail contact for tip submissions. Write a customized press release tailored to them, and try to come up with an interesting angle that might get them to cover your story. The easier you can make it for the journalists, the more likely they'll bother to cover you.

I can get hundreds of natural links from real estate agent sites, but should I?
I have a website that generate leads for real estate agents nationwide. I have an auto email that sends out the referral agreement and in the email I ask them to place a link to our website on their site somewhere to be a part of the program. I can get as many as 10-15 links in a few hours in every major city in the U.S. Most realtor websites have websites that are new, or haven't posted blogs and have a Moz domain score of 1 and trust score of 1. I have been thinking of only selecting websites with descent Moz rankings instead of having all agents link to me, even ones with a low moz score. Is it a bad idea to get a bunch of links from legitimate websites that have low Moz scores?

Is there a way to get a list (backlink profile) of all tiny url's that point to my site or a competitors site?
I have noticed that most all links you find in all the major back link profile tools such as OSE or GWM, etc... do not show tiny url's. If there is a service that shows all the tiny urls pointing to your site, can someone please share. It has already been proven that tiny url's do pass link juice, so with that being said... if there is no way to find all the tiny urls that point to a site, wouldn't it be a great strategy to create all my back links with tiny url's to mask my profile from competitors? Thanks!

Email marketing - ready to get serious about this
Ok, I have my PILE of business cards from Chamber of Commerce meetings and different networking events I have attended. I have 8-10 blogs that are worth sharing on my website - www.sawwebmarketing.com (I realize that's a pathetically low number) I am committing to and excited about blogging MUCH more starting today! I have a huge list of ideas. I am adding a signup to my site and putting up a pop up to collect addresses. I have 15-18 clients that are paying me for ongoing seo / Internet marketing (or simply had my team build a new site for them) AND AN ACCOUNT WITH AWEBER I HAVE USED ONCE! 🙂 Where do I start!? Any advice? I want to start building a LIST of subscribers and grow my list by sharing great advice, strategies and tips to help people put their website to work. A) Send one email to EVERYBODY (ongoing clients, past clients, contacts who subscribe, website visitors, blog subscribers) or customize my messages for different groups? B) Put whatever I want to share on my blog and share it via social media AND send an email to my list inviting them to check out what I posted so I get the most bang for my time? (LINKS BABY!) I feel like an idiot I haven't got on this sooner but truly ANY ADVICE from somebody who has been there and done it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! 🙂 Thank you! Any research on a baseline traffic loss due to SERP crowding?
Hello all. I work with a number of ecommerce sites and in trying to gauge year over year performance I'm struggling to properly account for some of the organic shrinkage in SERPs. Many people have discussed the topic of SERPs with 6 & 7 results and the growing real estate being taken up by paid results. What I want to know is if anyone out there has done some large scale number crunching to find some averages on lowered CTR or traffic loss so I can better understand my numbers. Anyone have any input here?

Do "big" SEO companies remove links after termination of service?
Or worded differently: Has anyone heard of "big" SEO companies removing links after termination of service? I have a client who isn't particularly happy with the SEO he's getting from a big Aussie SEO firm, and he wants to terminate, however they've built thousands of links for him and he's a little concerned they might all get pulled. Has anyone heard of this happening, or; Do you think this is a legitimate concern? I think its physically possible to remove backlinks like this because it seems the SEO firm in question is building links by using other client's websites. I also wonder if they might have large content farm style sites where they place links for clients which might be quite easy to take down. Please discuss!
