How do I get our company press release more traffic?
-
We current gained a Major University as a client, for private cable operations.
The boss would like a press release he made distributed. How would any of you go about this?
Paid and Non paid services please. ; )
Thanks all!

Wow! Thanks guys! These are all extremely helpful. I think I will start with a sprinkle of the @EGOL meanwhile running with the @Takeshi, and finishing with some of the @Francisco method!
Awesome feed back guys, I am so glad I can fall back on my SEO Mozer Clan!

hmmm... I think that there is a very fine line between announcing good news, thumping your chest until you cough and spamming everyone in your industry.
Lots of people send these types of announcements out to everyone in their industry and anyone anywhere who has ever had a contact with their business. Your boss might like this but it will really make him look like a spammer. Ninety-nine percent of these people don't give a hoot.
So, I would ask the boss who he really wants to reach and what message he wants conveyed to them.
Press releases are valuable when they reach a few of the very right people... and they are spam to just about everyone else. So instead of thinking "more traffic", think about "reaching the right people with the right message".
Know what you are trying to shoot and aim before firing.

If it's for a major university, then they will definitely have a university newspaper. When I was at UCLA, there was a whole department of journalist there. If I were you, I would hit them up and get a nice back link.

PRWeb is the best paid press release service I've used, and you can get a decent PR link out of it
If you're actually looking to get news coverage, go to the websites for all your local newspapers, and look for their e-mail contact for tip submissions. Write a customized press release tailored to them, and try to come up with an interesting angle that might get them to cover your story. The easier you can make it for the journalists, the more likely they'll bother to cover you.

Is it getting harder to sell SEO services?
Is it just me, or is it getting harder to sell SEO services? SEO costs more now and takes longer to achieve results There seem to be more good SEO agencies out there (gone are the days where the primary competition was offshore outsourcers and web design agencies) It seems that the number of agencies is growing faster than the number of companies buying services As online competition heats up, it takes more and more budget to really "win" in a market, but so few companies are willing to invest enough Any others notice similar trends? What will the future look like?

Is there a way to get a list (backlink profile) of all tiny url's that point to my site or a competitors site?
I have noticed that most all links you find in all the major back link profile tools such as OSE or GWM, etc... do not show tiny url's. If there is a service that shows all the tiny urls pointing to your site, can someone please share. It has already been proven that tiny url's do pass link juice, so with that being said... if there is no way to find all the tiny urls that point to a site, wouldn't it be a great strategy to create all my back links with tiny url's to mask my profile from competitors? Thanks!

Email marketing - ready to get serious about this
Ok, I have my PILE of business cards from Chamber of Commerce meetings and different networking events I have attended. I have 8-10 blogs that are worth sharing on my website - www.sawwebmarketing.com (I realize that's a pathetically low number) I am committing to and excited about blogging MUCH more starting today! I have a huge list of ideas. I am adding a signup to my site and putting up a pop up to collect addresses. I have 15-18 clients that are paying me for ongoing seo / Internet marketing (or simply had my team build a new site for them) AND AN ACCOUNT WITH AWEBER I HAVE USED ONCE! 🙂 Where do I start!? Any advice? I want to start building a LIST of subscribers and grow my list by sharing great advice, strategies and tips to help people put their website to work. A) Send one email to EVERYBODY (ongoing clients, past clients, contacts who subscribe, website visitors, blog subscribers) or customize my messages for different groups? B) Put whatever I want to share on my blog and share it via social media AND send an email to my list inviting them to check out what I posted so I get the most bang for my time? (LINKS BABY!) I feel like an idiot I haven't got on this sooner but truly ANY ADVICE from somebody who has been there and done it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! 🙂 Thank you! How do i get a description in my google local listing
My site is listed in the serps at number one but where google used to list the name of my site with the meta description below it, now Google lists my site title with my address to the right side and below it says Google+page instead of listing my meta description which had my key search phrase in it and also a call to action to see my video on my site. My click through was much better with the meta description below it and the call to action. is there any way i can get the description back under my title in the serps? Maybe by deleting my Google + page? Thanks in advance, Ron

What is the SEO term for Tree Search Engine results when we lookup for a company?
Hi Folks, I have a newbie question: When I do a Google search for: SEOmoz i get a SERP for SEOmoz in a form of a Tree, on the other hand if I search another company, let's say PAF.ca I get individual page results on google. Question is: What is the difference between the two, and how do we usually ask Google to display results of a Company name in the form of a tree or Main Category with Subpages in the SERP when looking for that company name. For my Visual Friends, Please find attached a Print screens that could explain my question a bit more. eAQpw.jpg

I'm looking for solid internet usage / traffic data.
Hi there, In a week or two I'll give my first internet marketing presentation to a local business club. Ill walk them through the basics of what is happening online, and how both B2B and B2C business can use their online assets as marketing tools. I want some basic statistical data to back up my story, like: Current web usage distribution (social/search/media etc) Growth of Mobile vs Desktop Search Engines distribution (google bing yahoo msn) Online retail numbers To top it all off, I would also like to be able to show both worldwide and The Netherlands data. What is my best bet for some serious datamining ;)? Thanks in advance for helping me out!
