      Hello,

I want to ask a question related to that - Should we put keywords in the home page title if we wish to position another landing page better for particular keywords?

I have read in one website about SEO that it's good the main keywords of your website to be positioned in homepage title also.

f.e. Let's say we have website about web-design and our company is named Company Ltd. The title of the home page is "Company Ltd.  - Web design, SEO, etc"

We have also another inner page named "Web design | Company Ltd.".

So should we leave the first page name only "Company Ltd." and the landing page's name "Web design | Company Ltd." . I don't know if they both have the same keyword in their title they won't compete with each other.

I forgot to include, keywords do not need to be exclusive to an individual page, they can be targeted on multiple pages, but having the specific landing page will likely be the most effective area on the site for concentrated on-page SEO tactics.

I would also agree with Baldea and David here, be careful not to Keyword stuff the Home page.

You can include your desired terms within elements of the page if they are relevant / to help the home page rank for those terms, but a product specific page is always going to give you the most scope to target all page elements effectively.

The Page title is only one element, SEOmoz's on page optimisation tool should be useful for you in working out how effectively you are targeting the phrase and what trade-offs are available to you.

Agree with Baldea, I try and keep home pages as the overview for an entire company or subject, then lets say internal products will be optimised for the actual product listed, so they rank individually for that search term and are displayed on a plate in front of the viewer. try and keep the visitors navigation down to a minimum, thus more chance of conversion.

If your home is the only one ranking for the chosen keywords, it could look like stuffing, Google scoring less for said product/service and visitor is most likely looking for an actual product/service rather than an overview which ends in a high bounce rate.

All internal pages would have the chosen product keyword(s), keywords hold first word presence in the title.

for example I would most likely use "Antifouling Paint, fight the barnacles with Teamac Antifouling paint"

            hope this helps

            Dave

Keyword stuffing your homepage isn't the best decision. I'd keep my homepage something like:

Company Ltd.: Web development solutions (anyway, something that best describes your entire site, company)

The landing page(s) could have a title like:

              ****Company Ltd.: Web design services

              or

Web design services | Company Ltd.

              Good luck.

Does it hurt SEO to build landing pages in HubSpot instead of directly in Word Press?

Our team's website is built in Word Press, but we use Hub Spot as our CRM. We are trying to determine if building landing pages in Hub Spot is going to hurt our SEO efforts and if it's better to build directly on Word Press.

Is it better to keep a glossary or terms on one page or break it up into multiple pages?

We have a very large glossary of over 1000 industry terms on our site with links to reference material, embedded video, etc. Is it better for SEO purposes to keep this on one page or should we break it up into multiple pages, a different page for each letter for example? Thanks.

Will it upset Google if I aggregate product page reviews up into a product category page?

We have reviews on our product pages and we are considering averaging those reviews out and putting them on specific category pages in order for the average product ratings to be displayed in search results. Each averaged category review would be only for the products within it's category, and all reviews are from users of the site, no 3rd party reviews. For example, averaging the reviews from all of our boxes products pages, and listing that average review on the boxes category page. My question is, will this be doing anything wrong in the eyes of Google, and if so how so? -Derick

                URL for location pages

Hello all We would like to create clean, easy URLs for our large list of Location pages. If there are a few URLs for each of the pages, am I right when I'm saying we would like this to be the canonical? Right now we would like the URL to be: For example
Domain.com/locations/Columbus I have found some instances where there might be 2,3 or more locations in the same city, zip. My conclusion for these would be: adding their Branch id's on to the URL
Domain.com/locations/Columbus/0304 Is this an okay approach? We are unsure if the URL should have city,State, zip for SEO purposes?
The pages will have all of this info in it's content
BUT what would be best for SEO and ranking for a given location? Thank you for any info!

Is there a SEO penalty for multi links on same page going to same destination page?

Hi, Just a quick note. I hope you are able to assist. To cut a long story short, on the page below http://www.bookbluemountains.com.au/ -> Features Specials & Packages (middle column) we have 3 links per special going to the same page.
                1. Header is linked
                2. Click on image link - currently with a no follow
                3. 'More info' under the description paragraph is linked too - currently with a no follow Two arguments are as follows:
                1. The reason we do not follow all 3 links is to reduce too many links which may appear spammy to Google. 2. Counter argument:
The point above has some validity, However, using no follow is basically telling the search engines that the webmaster “does not trust or doesn’t take responsibility” for what is behind the link, something you don’t want to do within your own website.   There is no penalty as such for having too many links, the search engines will generally not worry after a certain number.. nothing that would concern this business though.  I would suggest changing the no follow links a.s.a.p. Could you please advise thoughts. Many thanks Dave Upton [long signature removed by staff]

Would it be bad to change the canonical URL to the most recent page that has duplicate content, or should we just 301 redirect to the new page?

Is it bad to change the canonical URL in the tag, meaning does it lose it's stats? If we add a new page that may have duplicate content, but we want that page to be indexed over the older pages, should we just change the canonical page or redirect from the original canonical page? Thanks so much! -Amy
