Google plus provides dofollow or nofollow backlinks?
-
I see my webmaster full of backlinks coming from sites like
Google.com(plus)
Twitter.com(tweets)
Stumbleupon
chime
1.Are these backlinks follow or nofollow?
2.Follow or nofollow backlinks surely do not pass PR effect but do the nofollow backlink helpful in rank or not?
-
Your Google+ profile (about section) does give you the option of adding links to your bio. As far as i can see them, they are dofollow.
example:
-
You mention building your author profile and it certainly makes me wonder how important it is to have a fully fleshed out profile backing up pages on Facebook, Google +, etc?
I ask because typically what I have been doing is creating a proxy account that is not even visible to the public just to put up my business pages.
Am I going about this the wrong way?
-
Usually, you will find social media sites (of any type) will give no-follow links. So they don't (in theory) pass link juice - however, they are still helpful for ranking, getting visitors and even getting your site indexed.
The prime example of this is G+, through making sure it's not posted to other social media sites or to a sitemap, it is possible to see that when you make a post on Google+ to a new page or blog within a few hours it get's indexed / a robot visits - this is even faster if people comment about the post and share it. At least in my experience.
As SamCUK says though, build your author profile and show you are a real person with great content and the rest will follow. Great content and good use of social media will mean you will naturally build both follow and no-follow links (as of course does deliberate link building)
-
As I understand it Google + post links are now no follow. The rest listed are too. Remember though that you need a range of do follow and no follow links for a natural backlink profile. The best thing you can do with your google plus profile is set up google authorship. A strong trust signal for google.
-
Yea, those types of links are usually no-follow. As far as no-follow links being helpful for rankings - that's something that's been debated thoroughly and it's hard to say. Like you said, they don't pass much juice, but can possibly be seen as a relevance signal.
I would also expect links from sites related to your niche to be of more value than social profile links.

Setting up a remote business with their Google Business Account
Hi all, I have a client who operates a remote business and I need to get her Google business/ brand account set up. She doesn't want it listed under her home address (for obvious reasons) but that is where her business is based out of. Apart from getting a PO box and listing her business under that for Google, does anybody know of any other options or best practices? Thanks!

Can you have same product name and description on a local and national site at the same time without getting dinged by google?
My question is regarding a few sites we own which are all related. The local site (http://location.company.com) is a extension of the national main site (http://company.com.) We are in the process of launching these new sites as replacements to older sites we created years ago. My first question regarding SEO is it important to the search engines to have unique product content on both sites even though they promote the same products (with same pictures) and brands or can we keep the same product names and descriptions as I hope? I ask this because essentially they are the same site but with with the exception of the local extension..... We thought by re writing all the content on the main pages of both sites along with different; title tags, page title and meta descriptions that that would make the sites different enough to get away with this. Is that the case? Thank you in advance for your assistance, Jake

Google Analytics setup tips and tricks?
I want to see (and possibly compile) other marketers tips and tricks when it came to setting up their Google Analytics. I feel like I sometimes get into a rut when I setup GA for clients and I want to make sure that I'm not getting rusty with it. Some of the things I'm interested in (but not limited to): How do you use dashboards? What funnels do you setup? How do you utilize goals? What are your favorite metrics to report to clients? What are the top items on your checklist when setting up GA? And many others I could include here... I'd be interested in seeing what other marketers include in their GA setup and reporting. These can be super simple or expert level tips and tricks. It's a personal curiosity I have so that I make sure I'm staying up to date with everything but if there is enough participation I will compile everything into a YouMoz post or something as a guide for us to use and share. So please share this question with others if you can. Thanks!

Hi, this is a little off topic but I hope someone can help me. I am looking for a good E Learning provider.
Within our organization we would like to start training our people at our global offices in SEO using E Learning. Just as with SEO, there is so much available, but I don't know who to trust and who not. I was hoping some of you might have some names for me, or experience with certain providers you can recommend. Best regards, Astrid

Wrong Descriptions for Title's on Google SERP?
I put descriptions in for each of my product categories a couple months ago and a few of my category pages rank high. The problem is that most of my category pages have the wrong meta description on the SERP. The descriptions that are shown sometimes have the home page description, which isn't a big deal, but some have descriptions of different products and most have descriptions of sub categories. Below is an example of a subcategory description (specialty feeders) for a main category: Co-matic Power Feeders - Products - Shop Gear Inc www.shopgearinc.com/products/co-matic-power-feeders/Specialty Feeders. Specialty Co-matic feeders are built for use on a variety of machines and for specific operations. Shop Gear supplies a variety of specialty **...****Any Suggestions?**Thanks

Google's weighting of Page Load speed
Hey, we recently optimised our website page load speed as part of our overall optimisation. Page load speed according to the Google Developers Page Speed test was previously 51 out of 100 and is now 92 out of 100 and this was improved within the last seven days gradually, cached half way through the improvement process. I appreciate this is regarded as only a small part of the whole process, however, I’d be interested to know if anyone has a concrete opinion/proof on whether such a big improvement would actually make a difference to our rankings in the SERPs.
