Trying to Merge Google + Local and Google Business Page _ How to?
-
Hi I have been reading so many posts about merging Google Plus + (Places) accounts and the new Google + Business Pages. I am working with a business who has a verified account in both. How ( and in fact should we try and merge). The old Places page has a review the newly create Business Page does not but is better optimized. Any help would be gratefully received as my head is spinning/ PS based in New Zealand

Hi AllieMc,
Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure what the status of the rollout of the new dashboard is at this point in New Zealand. In the United States, the top Local SEOs have been advising against merging for some time because the outcomes could be so wonky. Not sure if that is the same in NZ. Now, however, Google has rolled out a completely new Places for Business Dashboard. They way this will work will be that you can either just have a local-type page or you can upgrade the page to have the social features. Mike Blumenthal explains this well (http://blumenthals.com/blog/2013/04/02/google-local-rolling-out-places-for-business-upgrade/)
"Once an account is transitioned the dashboard account will be automatically redirected to the new interface. If that account has a Plus account the option to edit the Google+ page will appear in the interface. But a G+ profile is not required to interact with the business profile. All that is needed is the existing Google ID/email. The business will be required to obtain a G+ personal profile if they want to add the additional features (social stream, videos) of a full G+ Local page.
When this rollout is complete there will be only two types of local pages: verified and unverified. Each business can decide whether they need the social and video features or not."
I'm not sure if this has rolled out in NZ yet, but if not, you might want to wait until it does to make any changes. Here is another good post by Mike explaining some of the features of the new dashboard, so you can be prepared:

I'm not ranking locally.....
Hello, We own the business BIM Fitness and Performance in Fort Myers, FL. However, when we do a search near us, we are down at the very bottom of the page. Can anyone provide some insight as to why this may be? I know SEO is the long game but is there anyway we can at least appear higher up locally?

Google images not showing on SERP
Hi, I recently noticed that after a specific name search, Google images on the 'Web' SERP are no longer showing up. About a month ago, there were atleast 4-5 headshots of this particular person showing up whenever his name was searched. Now no images are showing, just the ten organic links and two links from adwords campaign we have going. The images are still optimized and some are even from editorial sites. Does anyone know what may have caused the images to disappear and what we can do to bring them back to the main SERP? (Not sure if it matters but we are in Canada) Thanks

Checking in on Local
So it's been a few months since my most favorite thread "Local Really?" (http://moz.com/community/q/local-really) and I have worked tirelessly deleting duplicate citations, fixing incorrect NAP, and adding new citations for the two different locations my client works from. I have added a second Google Plus Local page and verified it as well and linked it back to the page for that location on my site. I have added Schema.org markup on each of the pages relating to the locations with the full address and correct NAP. I research with whitespark.ca to find new possibilities and compare with listings ranking highly. I feel like I have worked non-stop at this but unfortunately I have still seen 0 results from my examining everything. The Google listing is still on page 14 / 20 and seems to be stuck there. Is this fairly normal? I'm just at a lost as I have honestly tried to adhere to all the comments and advice given by everyone here (again while seeing the competition doing none of those things.) I think I'm just looking for that little "things look right just give it time and continue" or even "no! you're doing it wrong still" Thanks in advance!

Hi Folks, The company I work for is based in Kendal in Cumbria in the United Kingdom (that's our head office) but as we are a training company and we have training locations all over the UK, how would I go about updating the local listings to reflect this. I'd like to specifically target our London based venues. Any help much appreciated. Gaz

Target inside pages for specific country
Hi! How are you? I'm having the following problem: I have a client that has a big multilingual website, in spanish, portugese and english. The server is in Brazil, but he wants to migrate it to USA. I think that this will affect my SERPs in Brazil, and Brazil is the most important country where we need to be first in SERPs. I'd like to, somehow, tell Google that http://website.com/pt is for Brazil and http://website.com/es is for Argentina, so I can avoid the problem that I'll have when the migration is completed and I lose my brazilian IP. Do you have any tips on what should I do? Thanks! Best wishes, Ariel
