Whats next after I rank for many keywords?
-
I have a client who came to me wanting to know what's next for her as she already ranks in the top 5 for hundreds of keywords. She is right, her rankings for her niche are excellent and there are no relevant keywords for her to try and go after. What would be next to generate traffic?
p.s She also has links from just about everyone in the industry that's relevant
There has to be more "tricks" to seo besides keywords and link building
-
got it, thanks for your feedback
-
It was very serious rather than sarcastic. If you used some of the typical SEO tricks the damage done to your site could really cut your business and result in you laying off employees.
We have no idea of your level of knowledge. So it is better to warn you about tricks than to see you return here crying - even if you don't like it.
-
thanks, I understand the other ways to build traffic, looking for more SEO strategies here .
-
I don't think his comment is well said at all, I think it is sarastic. As I said in my question, I am looking for more of a solution than keywords and linking, I am not looking for black hat "tricks" just other strategies. He took a word in my question and spun it in a negative fashion

Does traffic make your client money, or do conversions make your client money? Are the people doing what you want them to once they get on the site? Optimizing for conversions may be the next thing to focus on -- make use of that traffic you're already getting.
-
I would try to rank next in top 3 for those hundred of keywords by deploying some fine tuning.
Next I would go for long tail on a very wide range especially if it's related to shoes.
My 2 cents.
-
well same here i agree with EGOL and will not try any "tricks" this days.
if she already have links from all relevant sites go to the next step and get her more customers by starting social media marketing.
you can also just to feel that you are doing the job for her and it will also help get a press out there and talk about the new models she have.
hope that help
Mike

Sponsor local races
- Marathons
- half marathons
- 10k's
- 5k's
- Tie these all to charities
- Again Press releases online but sent to local papers.
This will get you more Branding Benefits and closer to the Top Spot.
-
Well said, from what I've gathered here, tricks get you into long term trouble. It has to be about the long term versus the right now.
-
If your client is already ranking extremely well for that many keywords I'm sure she is already incorporating these tactics which are basic.
- social media: Especially Google+
- Offline tactics with online Press Releases directed to local media for positive exposure on and off line. Which will also help for greater rankings to get towards the #1 spot.
- How are they ranking on the other search engines?
- Info-graphics specific to their industry to be directed to all local bloggers and site owners.
- Brand Building:
- PPC Campaign: It is beneficial to be both in the paid and non paid positions since most people naturally want to click on the non-paid link. This gives you more impressions.
These tactics directly and indirectly add to SEO.
Hope this helps. Goof luck

I wouldn't be looking for "tricks" these days.
-
The difference between "top 5" and "top 3" for hundreds of keywords will probably be hundreds to thousands of visitors per DAY (depending upon the keywords)
-
thanks, good thoughts, but would love more. The industry is shoes BTW
-
#1 for everything is always a start.
Increasing long tail traffic is always an option (assuming you don't already have plenty of longtail traffic).
Depending on the industry it might be an option to increase traffic from referring sites or social media not to mention affiliate marketing.

How to take down a sub domain which is receiving many spammy back-links?
Hi all, We have a sub domain which has less engagement for last few years. Eventually many spammy back links pointed to this sub domain. There are relevant back links too. We have deleted most of the pages which are employing spammy content or which have spammy back links. Still I'm confused whether to take this sub domain down or keep it. The confusion between "relevant backlinks might be helping our website" and "spammy backlinks are affecting to drop in rankings"? Thanks

Will more landing pages with related keywords improve ranking of main keyword?
Hi all, We are in the process of creating new landing pages and noticed something what our competitors been following with landing pages. They have created multiple landing pages targeting the related keywords of a main topic / main keyword. Like "seo defined", "seo history", "seo benefits", "seo strategies", "types of seo", etc being "SEO" as main keyword or main topic. Will this works? Thanks

Can setting up a Domain Forward lead to sudden drop in Rankings?
Hi there, Our website www.porcelainsuperstore.co.uk has been ranking on pages 1 and 2 of Google for the past 12 - 18 months for a number of our key search terms. There has been the odd fluctuation but nothing major. On Wednesday of this week (2 days ago), we purchased the domain www.porcelainsuperstore.com and without thinking I enabled Domain Forwarding on this domain to go to www.porcelainsuperstore.co.uk

Today our rankings have shown quite dramatic drops, e.g Wood effect tiles position 1 to position 3 Metro tiles position 9 to position 12 Quartz tiles position 4 to position 9 Floor tiles position 14 to position 25 Can anyone advise on this? Do you think the domain forward could have created this sudden drop?
I have now disabled the domain forwarding but am worried that this might be irreversible in Googles eyes? I have now disabled the domain forward - I assume this is the right thing to do?
Any help much appreciated. Thanks Ben0 -
Traffic, CTR AND AdSense eCPM Down ... Keyword Rankings Unchanged
Since the last week in March, one of our sites with ~ 1 million high quality page-views per month has had a 25% drop in traffic, CTR drop from 4% to 3%, and AdSense eCPM has dropped from $8 to $5 ... however, all of our keyword rankings have remained unchanged. Also, it is an extremely consistent niche with no drop in relevant searches ... The only thing that we KNOW for sure has changed is the removal of the separator and indentation from the Google search ads to our #1 ranking positions. Could such a simple alteration in the Google search results UI have such a significant impact on our numbers? Is anyone else experiencing a similar revenue drop without a rankings drop in the past two weeks? Besides punching up the titles to make our search results more appealing to users, is there really anything that can be done about Googles new paid results placement? Your thoughts and suggestions are invited. Thanks guys and gals 😉

Loss of 1,000 links has negatively affecting rankings
Hey there, One of the clients we're working with has lost about 1,000 or so backlinks over the last two or three months - mainly old article and directory links - and it has massively affected the site's search rankings. The site was ranking for pretty much all of its keywords in prominent positions on Google (mostly first page) but has now seen positions dive to 50, 90 and even outside of the top 100. Is there any immediate action we can put into place to help restore our rankings?

Domain Authority and Google keywords
Hi there, We have a domain authority of 33, one of our competitors has an authority of 10, yet they appear to list higher on many keyword searches in google. Is there a reason for this? Our site is 5 months old, and their site is over 3 yrs old. Thanks for your feedback 🙂
