Does my font look good in this?
-
Apologies for the title, but a serious point here....
We (like a lot of people) spend time on almost mechanical on-page optimisation. However, we are finally moving our thinking to our visitors and what works for them - not the search engines. I know, about time.
With that in mind we have de-cluttered our content pages and increased font sizes - focussing on usability more.
This is an example of a tweaked page - http://www.compactlaw.co.uk/free-legal-information/employment-law/exceptions-for-unfair-dismissal.html
This is an un-tweaked page - http://www.compactlaw.co.uk/agency-agreement.html
Which do you prefer to read/look at??
-
As others have said, definitely the new/tweaked version, it's a big improvement, nice work!

Just a bit of fun - but seems to have worked.
(What we do is dry and serious, so writing an interesting title is a bit of a relief.)
-
On a side note, you apologize for the title of your question but looking at the number of views for each of the questions this morning, this one has quite a few views compared to the others. An example of a good title increasing clicks, I think.

To be honest we looked at Moz and a bunch in here in the UK called Clearleft - http://clearleft.com/thinks/
-
That's better. Looking very crisp, clean and clear.

Hi Christina
Thank you for the feedback.
We have tweaked the link colour to #0066cc;
It helps the links stand out a little more - hopefully.

Hi
This page is much better, so easy to read compared to the other. http://www.compactlaw.co.uk/free-legal-information/employment-law/exceptions-for-unfair-dismissal.html
Initially I didn't spot the blue text in your content as it closely matches the grey. It's not just about font but also thinking about colour and people's vision as they age, or for those who are colour blind.

Looking to remove SSL because it is causing very slow website download speeds. Does WP have a plugin that redirects SSL urls to non SSL urls?
After some extended debate with our web development team we are considering dropping the SSL from our website because it is adding almost 2 additional seconds to our download speeds. We know there is a SEO boost from having a SSL but we believe the extended download speeds maybe outweighing the benefit. However we are concerned about the SEO implications of having no method possible of redirect SSL to non SSL webpages. Does anybody know of a Wordpress Plugin that can force redirect SSL urls to non SSL urls?

How does Google look at strings added to a URL
For example: http://localhost:3000/en-US/app/a-knsmtrhqrqs/personal where knsmtrhqrqs is a string Can Google tell this is a string and what's their policy? Will it hurt rankings? Thank you.

Too many Internal Links: A good thing or bad thing?
According to Moz i have over 500 links on some pages, GWT says about 400 with most (90%) having about 210 links. When I eyeball the site it should have no more than 30 to 40, but my web agency tells me its because the way the CMS works (DotNetNuke) that all pages are linked via the top navigation. Does this mean that my internal linking strategy is flawed before i even start to consider which pages I want to have more links to? Our site www.over50choices.co.uk was rebranded & moved to the new CMS in June 2013. Should i be concerned or is this OK? Ash

Looking for a Static Blog Roll (Directory) plug in / tool
I am looking to add a static page to my site to allow people to add their site to a 'master directory". I'd like to make this as SEO friendly as possible. Here's it what I would really like to be able to do. 1. Someone visits the page and can either browse the blog directory on that page, or 2. Fill out a short from that has their blog name, url, short description of their blog, their state, country, and maybe the option to upload an image as well. This way people can search by the state / country to find people near by. 3. I'd like the links to be no-follow. 4. I'm not sure if there is an easy way to do this (I think I've seen some plug in's that may be able to do it.) 5. I'm also not sure if there is anything I'm missing here that could make this better. What I don't want is just a long list of links like everyone has on their side bar. I'd like to make it better, more user friendly, more seo friendly, and more helpful than that. Any creative input on how I might do this is appreciated. Thanks. 🙂

Making a third-party hosted blog look like a folder on the main domain
I have a client that has a "completely pristine" Microsoft.net web environment that is unwilling to put a wordpress installation on their server. Their management team wants a wordpress blog for the marketing department. Is there a means where we can host the wordpress blog with a regular hosting company but yet have it appear as part of the main site e.g., mainsite.com/blog vs. having to put it in a subdomain (blog.mainsite.com) and lose all the SEO benefits of the blog content?

Hiding Links Under A Tab As Good As Anything Else And More Attractive?
I'm working with a site that finds standard linking to spread authority to interior pages ugly. Here's what they don't like: footers tag clouds sidebar lists of links text heavy paragraphs with links a gallery of images with alt text/links So, I'm looking for other ways to link from their homepage to these less prominent pages inside the site. Here are my two questions: 1. Would something like this work, with the links under the "Specs" tab (p.s., this is just a random example and not my client): http://www.goincase.com/products/detail/CL57925/ 2. Any other ideas for spreading the authority via links from their homepage and other pages on the site to less powerful pages? Thanks! Best...Mike
