How to get a page re-crawed quickly
-
Does anyone know a way to get Google to re-crawl a webpage that does not belong to me.
There are a bunch of pages that I have had links removed on and I want Google to re-crawl those pages to see the links have been removed. (current wait time is way way too long)
Can anyone suggest some ways to get the page re-crawled. (I am unable to get the website owners to use WMT to do anything).
Suggestions like good ping services and various other techniques would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks Anthony, I have heard this recently. My problem is I want to find a solution and repeat it 20,000 times LOL.

Posting links on Google+ has been a really good way to get new pages crawled and indexed. Even if these pages are not new, I think if you could get a few G+ profiles to submit it, it would increase the likelihood that Googlebot would crawl the page.

Hi Gary,
Webmaster Tools would have been the way to do this quickly and easily. What I would recommend is to share the URL on Twitter if you can with a couple of people. They crawl Twitter of course and will crawl your page probably sooner.

Hey Gary,
Back in the day when when I wanted Google to notice links I had built I used to ping them and it seemed to work.
Matt Cutts also touches on pinging services such as PubSubHubbub in this video where he is talking about getting Google to notice pages faster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LsB19wTt0Q#t=77 I used to use https://pingler.com/ and http://pingomatic.com/.
Also in that vid Matt talks about links on places such as Twitter. You could perhaps build links to these pages elsewhere, but weather they would get crawled any faster depends on the site I guess.
You could also submit the URL to Google. I don't know weather it would speed crawling up, worth a go though.

Pillar pages and blog pages
Hello, I was watching this video about pillar pages https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db3TpDZf_to and tried to apply it to my self but find it impossible to do (but maybe I am looking at it the wrong way). Let's say I want to rank on "Normandy bike tou"r. I created a pillar page about "Normandy bike tour" what would be the topics of the subpages boosting that pillar page. I know that it should be questions people have but in the tourism industry they don't have any, they just want us to make them dream !! I though about doing more general blog pages about things such as : Places to rent a bike in Normandy or in XYZ city ? ( related to biking) Or the landing sites in Normandy ? (not related to biking) Is it the way to do it, what do you recommend ? Thank you,

Pages Disappearing from Search
Hi, We have had a strongly ranking site since 2004. Over the past couple of days, our Google traffic has dropped by around 20% and some of our strong pages are completely disappearing from the rankings. They are still indexed, but having ranked number 1 are nowhere to be found. A number of pages still remain intact, but it seems they are increasingly disappearing. Where should we start to try and find out what is happening? Thanks

How to rank product pages?
Hi guys, Please advice me on something improving my product pages ranking. We are doing well for head terms, categories but not ranking for product pages. We have issues with product pages which I am think is hard to tackle. For instance we have duplicate products (different colors), duplicate content internally (colors) and from manufacturer websites. Product pages linked from sub-category i.e. Home > Category > Sub-Category (20 per page) using pagination for next 20 and so on. Product pages linked internally via widgets that says other Similar products, featured products etc. Another issue with our product pages is that we are using third party reviews platform and whenever users add reviews to product pages this platform creates an hyperlink to different anchors which is not relevant to product. Example - http://goo.gl/NUG652 Can somebody please give some advice on how to improve rankings for product pages. writing unique content for thousands of pages is not possible. Even our competitor not writing unique content.

How do I create a strategy to get rid of dupe content pages but still keep the SEO juice?
We have about 30,000 pages that are variations of "<product-type>prices/<type-of-thing>/<city><state "<="" p=""></state></city></type-of-thing></product-type> These pages are bringing us lots of free conversions because when somebody searches for this exact phrase for their city/state, they are pretty low-funnel. The problem that we are running into is that the pages are showing up as dupe content. One solution we were discussing is to 301-redirect or canonical all the city-state pages back to jus tthe "<type of="" thing="">" level, and then create really solid unique content for the few hundred pages we would have at that point.</type> My concern is this. I still want to rank for the city-state because as I look through our best-converting search-terms, they nearly always have the city-state in the search term, so the search is some variation of " <product-type><type of="" thing=""><city><state>"</state></city></type></product-type> One thing we thought about doing is dynamically changing the meta-data & headers to add the city-state info there. Are there other potential solutions to this?

Getting Google in index but display "parent" pages..
Greetings esteemed SEO experts - I'm hunting for advice: We operate an accommodation listings website. We monetize by listing position in search results, i.e. you pay more to get higher placing in the page. Because of this, while we want individual detailed listing pages to be indexed to get the value of the content, we don't really want them appearing in Google search results. We ideally want the "content value" to be attributed to the parent page - and google to display this as the link in the search results instead of the individual listing. Any ideas on how to achieve this?

Pricing Page vs. No Pricing Page
There are many SEO sites out there that have an SEO Pricing page, IMO this is BS. A SEO company cannot give every person the same quote for diffirent keywords. However, this is something we are currently debating. I don't want a pricing page, because it's a page full of lies. My coworker thinks it is a good idea, and that users look for a pricing page. Suggestions? If I had to build one (which I am debating against) is it better to just explain why pricing can be tricky? or to BS them like most sites do?

Which page to target? Home or /landing-page
I have optimized my home page for the keyword "computer repairs" would I be better of targeting my links at this page or an additional page (which already exists) called /repairs it's possible to rename & 301 this page to /computer-repairs The only advantage I can see from targeting /computer-repairs is that the keywords are in the target URL.
