Is it Possible to Subscribe to an SEOmoz Q&A Category via RSS?
-
I'm interested in tracking new questions in a specific category in SEOmoz's Q&A (the Reputation Management category), and I was thinking RSS would be the easiest way to do this. Is it possible?
Or is there another way to get new questions asked in a category into your email or RSS reader?
-
Thanks, I tried it with categories in a couple of different ways and I think we are probably just SOL if we want to keep up with new stuff in a single category.
Can I submit that as a requested feature? I'm particularly interested in what goes on in that category, but keeping up with it is sorta difficult with the way it is today.
If I could get a discrete URL that sorts by the latest for a category, then I can use existing tools like http://page2rss.com/ and http://www.feedmyinbox.com/ to stay up to date and contribute more regularly.
Thanks!

Not sure if it can go together with a category like that, but try
browse?sort=6
in the URL. If I didn't want to limit it to a particular category, I'd use http://www.seomoz.org/q/browse?sort=6.

I must be doing something wrong. Netiher of these sort by most recent:
http://www.seomoz.org/q/reputation-management?sort=6
http://www.seomoz.org/q/reputation-management?page=1&sort=6
Can you show me the error of my ways?

I knew it!!

Using &sort=6 in the parameters will sort by newest post, which may help. We don't have an RSS feed for questions at this time.

Thank you, I appreciate that!

"But that page seems to show what is most popular by default, not the newest. If you change the filter to 'Latest' or 'Last 24 Hours', the content updates, but the URL doesn't."
I believe watchthatpage would, it'll show a lot of updates because of the bumping though & threads falling off first page. In which case, you could probably shoestring something together with:
http://www.seomoz.org/q/reputation-management?page=1
http://www.seomoz.org/q/reputation-management?page=2
http://www.seomoz.org/q/reputation-management?page=3
You're right though, it's going to be messy. I'm not 100% sure if it will respect the "bumps" and only pick up new posts though. It's worth a shot!

Thanks, Brent. I guess the tricky parts is that the category pages aren't unique. For example, this is the page I want to watch: http://www.seomoz.org/q/reputation-management
But that page seems to show what is most popular by default, not the newest. If you change the filter to 'Latest' or 'Last 24 Hours', the content updates, but the URL doesn't.
Would the tools you suggested get around that somehow?

I would look at WatchThatPage. As long as their as the page is not sitting behind a login and has a specific URL, watchthatpage may be a viable option.
If you want to get fancier, look into IFTTT. Let me know if you want specifics on this, I could probably help you out this afternoon.
Good question & idea!

Site Not On Google, SEOmoz shows as 43
The site I'm helping with was at one time a page 1, even #1 on page 1. Lots of changes, problems when someone else did something and dropped to page 4 for keyword. After some recent tweaking I did, it no longer shows on rankings. No penalty on Google Webmaster, in Webmaster tools it shows the sitemap processed with no errors. SEOmoz still shows it at #43 in Rankings. Why does SEOmoz see it, but I don't? Site is www.plussizeplum.com (sorry, plus size women's lingerie) and keywords are "plus size lingerie".

Domain & Page Authority of brand new site?
Something I always do to assess how easy/difficult it will be for a clients site to rank against competitors is to compare domain and page authority scores with the scores of the competitors on page 1. This is great when Moz have spidered my clients site and can provide scores but what about where a clients site is brand new with only a few natural links? Anyone suggest a ball park figures for Domain authority on brand new websites?

SEOmoz Dashboard Report: Crawl Diagnostic Summary
Hi there, I'm noticing that the total errors for our website has been going up and down drastically almost every other week. 4 weeks ago there were over 10,000 errors. 2 weeks ago there were barely 1,000 errors. Today I'm noticing it's back to over 12,000 errors. It says the majority of the errors are from duplicate page content & page title. We haven't made any changes to the titles or the content. Some insight and explanation for this would be much appreciated. Thanks, Gemma

Significance of SEOmoz`s keyword difficulty
Hello everybody, currently, I am working on a project that will be available in multiple languages. My problem concerns the difference of the German and English language in relation to the SEOmoz`s Keyword difficulty (KWD). I just finished my German keyword research and got a satisfying collection of keywords I can use according to the KWD, page/ domain authority, Backlinks and Onpage-check. Now, as I am doing my research for the English market I find it hard to find any appropriate keywords with a satisfying KWD. I imagined the ranking on the English market to be much harder but now I doubt to ever rank for any useful, effective keyword on my list, because most of them are over 70 (some important over 80). According to the research it seems to have something to do with the authority strength of the pages, trust, etc, because they do not have more backlinks. Since they are query independent it is very hard for me to get a feeling for those metrics (I am new at SEO). So here are my questions: Due to your experiences, is it even possible to derank such pages or should I simply save the effort? How significant is the SEOmoz`s KWD? Would you always do Onpage optimization (text, internal linking) in case you earn more trust, authority, etc in the future, just to have your site optimized on the best keyword possible, even though you know that you cannot rank for that keyword (Cue: User-experience)? Or would you switch to less significant words (e.g. flashcards -> index cards) where you have a chance to rank but which is not that effective with traffic? Or focus on longtail, if possible? Many thanks
