How to perform Keyword Research for the e-commerce website which has more than 20,000 products
-
Hello,
I want to work on keyword research for one of our e-commerce website - http://www.grandcrayon.ca which provides office supply products in canada. I am targeting only canada and keyword research will be based on Canada Search results.I would like to know how i will start targeting keywords in organic way for this website. I am using keyword planner tool and get results some how. But should i start keyword research by filtering with different categories or any other easy way that i can give me the keyword results for this site.
I want to know which are the main keywords or the list of keywords on which i should work.
Your valuable inputs will help me a lot!
Thanks

Absolutely agree. Dealing with 20k keywords is something that is almost impossible to do manually. In this case I would personally turn up to http://keywordtool.io/api. This is basically an API for Google autocomplete. I'd use the API to get first 10 results from Google autocomplete for every keyword. Usually the first 10 results from Google autocomplete are the most relevant keywords anyway.

Start with Google Analytics and separate out by landing page - find out what you're already getting the most traffic on and start with those pages/keywords.
Then get some sort of crawl (Screaming Frog, personally) and start with the "levels" from home. Start with homepage targeting, move out to the ones that are "1 level away" and then "2 levels from home."
Add that to your top selling products and categories around them - should get you started.
It's not going to be an easy go, just have to start and keep cranking through it. Run each category through Adwords tool as well and you should get great lists to download & start from.

I would immediately start looking into any solutions that offer an API to make sure you can pull keywords at a fast pace for the 20k products that you offer. By doing this you can cross examine them to make sure you have all the right data sets to make good decisions.

Yahoo Directory inclusion of Spanish Websites
Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone of you know if the Yahoo Directory accepts Spanish websites. My website has its 100% market in Mexico, so i havent seen the need to put an english version of the site. I dont know if i can accomodate my site under regional or something in order to avoid translating the ecommerce site. Or i must put an english version of the site. I would deeply thank your comments. Thanks,

Ranking a specific inner page for a specific website
Hi, I'm new here and it's my first question. I'm not so new in SEO, the thing that I know now is google has changed its game plan. lol. My question is: I have a specific website (aged website but not well-optimized overall), and I want the inner page (with good on page optimization for a certain kw) to rank for the main kw that it's optimized for. How to do this these days? Should we build more kw to this page like usual? If yes, then what best practices to do it? thx guys

How to pick the right keywords for backlink building in a Huge site
Hi there, I'm running a coupons/discounts web site, with more than 1 millon page indexed. The website niche is crearly related to Coupons, Discounts, Deals, but those discounts may apply to hundreds of different categories. Currently we are getting 15K organic visits a day. Every time we have to write blog articles to increase backlinking, the same question came up. Should we target our niche keyowrds (which are very competitive) or should we pick long tail keyword (3-4 words) to be more specific ? The 70-80% of the organic traffic we receive every day came from long tail keywords, for which we never did any offert to rank with. This 70-80% traffic lands into internal pages. So basically the question is: should I keep backlinking the home page to get more juice on my domain, which will organically flows to the long tail landing pages ? Or should I write hundreds of articles targetting directly the long tail ? I think that targetting the long tail will cost me a lot of effort, i.e. for a particular long tail google search (with 4 or more keywords) I get 10 visitis a day, ranking in postion 3. If I made a lot of effort to rank in the first position for that long tail keyword, I may only get 50 visits a day, so for duplicating my daily visit amount I should do that work for thousandths of keywords, which seems, to not have much sense. So, should we target the domain and lets the rank flows from there, or should we point to thousandths of internal long tail landing pages ? I hope I made my self clear enough. Thanks in advance

Best way of starting link building to a new website?
I am doing SEO for a security keyholding company and would like to build up some quality links from related and high PR sites. Submitting profiles to directories is incredibly time consuming. I am thinking of outsourcing a link building campaign to a link building company, but know Google advises against this. Does anyone recommend a cost effective and ethical link building service out there? Or are there any link building techniques to use that will help me out? What I want to be sure of is that a link building campaign won’t get my websites penalised in search engines and the links are from quality and related websites. Many thanks in advance

Creating a separate blog off our website
A while ago we purchased some domains that are related to our industry. I'm fairly sceptical about using them, but I am interested what peoples thoughts are. We are currently producing quite alot of engaging content and although it's industry related, it is sometimes quite broad and not always appropriate for our company blog. I have been debating whether or not it will be a good idea to use one of the domain names that we have purchased to create more of an industry blog that is off our website. I'm not sure if this is considered a "black hat" technique by using domains registered to us? And also whether or not Google will punish because we are blogging from the same IP address and linking back to our site ? I look forward to hearing what people think. Thanks,
