How Would Google Approach Devaluing Infographic Links?

How do you think Google would go about devaluing infographic links?
Suppose the infographic image itself is not hyperlinked to the creator's site but there is a paragraph that mentions the creator and links to their site. How would Google distinguish the infographic creator's link from other external links on the page?

First up, if you have an infographic, the smart money is to control how people link to it in some way. Usually, this involves providing them with some kind of embed or linking code. Secondly, if you are a using some SEO smarts here you are going to want them to link to a page rather than to the image itself so you can pump some of that inbound link juice out to other pages or at least control it and provide a little more info, branding, funnels to service pages / social sign ups etc.
So, the way this tends to work is through hosting the infographic on a page and then providing link code to that page something like:
< href="http://www.yoursite.co.uk/">Your Home PageYou may also include a link to your homepage in this to really pimp our link opportunity.
Now, the only problem here is that we are creating a signature for the links as each link is going to be exactly the same. So, this is almost the sitewide scenario where they can count one, but identify and easily discount the others.
But, the real bones of the question is not 'how can Google devalue infographic links' but rather how can we stop Google devaluing infographic links.
Certainly though, an infographic is a high quality piece of content and if people choose to link to it, that link should still count. Whilst, they may look at ways of devaluing these links if they get too widespread but really, the boom (and bust) in infographic production may well have devalued them already in that there are just so many to choose from.
Hope that helps

As far as I understand the concept of infographic is that it is a way to attract 100s of link pointing back to your website... how that actually happens... I guess this happens when someone copy and paste your infographic by using the embedded code!
Now if there is a paragraph on the page that is linking to the main site.. (Probably that will not be included in the embedded code).. So in that case you might not get much benefits of an infographic even after it go viral.
As far is discounting links in infographic is concern it is a simple chain that is easy to capture.
My words: I don’t think infographics links are discounting completely at least the moment and even if they do you have a fair chance to impress people from your infographic and convert them in to profitable business sales.

If I am not wrong the new co-citation concept will work in this kind of situations, search engines are intelligent enough to understand this kind of hierarchies. All the Best!.

I am looking for a software to keep track of the back links or link building
Hi Guys, I am very new hear. I just joined. I have a few websites that I need to manage. I am looking for a software that will allow me to manually add the links that I have been able to acquire. It would also be a bonus if it could search for the links to my site and to see if its still active. Because I have a freelancer working a few hours a week on link building and I need to keep track of the links. I am looking for something simple and good. Any suggestions? By the way, I used Raven Tools many years ago, and it had this feature. But since joining Moz, I don't want to be paying for 2 subscriptions. And I don't know if Raven still has this feature. Your suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. Ryan

Internal Link Building and Link Juice Quality
Hi There! I manage the website for a law office that covers many geographical locations. For very specific niche content, we would prefer to create one piece of content and link to the various geographic locations where we would handle that topic instead of posting multiple variations of the same content for each specific geographical area. If we put a button on these pages that has links to each location, will that have the same "link juice" effect to the pages we're linking that linking directly in the text would? (example: the Where can we help you? button on this page : http://www.zdfirm.com/volkswagen-recall/) Thank you!

What is the importance of root domains linking to your website in Google's rankings? I notice our competition has a much higher number on keywords I'm analyzing. Thank you!
I've noticed our competition has a much higher number of "root domains" linking to their page than we do. Is this simply a result of more websites linking to them? How long does it normally take to build up these numbers/rankings? (I'm assuming it's a concerted effort, which I'll be researching.) Thank you!

Google Penalty
Hello thereIt has just been confirmed that my site is suffering for a Google Penality. The odd thing is that it is just for my set of key keywords and not the whole site. It seems in 2010 that a rouge SEO company I used sent loads of spammy links but I have lots of other good links too. What is your advice moving forward? Will it drop over time? Do I set up a new site (this has been established over 10 years) or try and get better quality links to compensate for the spam ones? Thanks so much! Kindest regards Victoria

Link quality
Hi, Having read dozens of your blogs and found them highly informative, i have to ask a question. I am kicking oout our SEO company and have taken over the SEO myself with some excellent results. Our SEO providers tell me that links from any site (irrelevent of their DA) are good, providing they are comming from a relevant source. We are in the security industry and according to MOZ, we have a DA of 52. If i can get a link to our site from another company in our industry but they have a DA of 10, is this really beneficial for me? Info i have read in Moz blogs suggest it is n ot a good idea. Please help. many thanks Daddy Smurf

Link Churn - where have all my links gone?
I am sure most of you have asked yourself the question I'm asking right now.. Where have all my links gone? I am starting to get twitchy now. I would estimate we have lost around 60% of our links in the past 3 weeks. Does anyone have any comeback stories? Feel like I am back to the start again. I have made a number of changes on the site not least removing a reciprical link page.. that had over 200 links on it but from reading one of Rand's tweets is it true that linking out could be good again?
