Where to place your important links to gain maximum SEO benefits . Left or Right?
-
People spent **more than twice as much time looking at the left side **of the page and that is the reason it's good practice to place your important links in left side.

Excellent advice. Thanks for jumping in here!

Hello Anirban,
People may spend more than twice as much time looking at the left side of the page than the right, but it is important to take each website as it comes rather than bow to industry standards. For example, a website's layout may make it extremely content heavy on the right side, necessitating user interaction to come from that side of the page.
My advice would be to install heat map software and see what your website users are doing (how they are interacting with your site) and optimizing your content and links accordingly.
In the end, a website that fulfills a user's needs and provides them with value through actionable research will trump generalizations based on data that may or may not be proven through quantitative evidence.
Thanks for providing us with your opinions though!

I agree with Martijn, but I also feel you are not using the Q&A as it was intended. You ask a question in your subject line and instead of elaborating on the question in the body, you post your own answer twice. How are you proving this info?
If you are looking to start a conversation about this topic I would suggest writing the body as if it was your opinion and see what others have to say. You might find some research/opinions that you haven't considered.

Shouldn't matter at all is my opinion. If you really get down to this level of optimization you're probably overthinking this

Youtube SEO Best Practices
Does anyone know where to find a list of SEO best practices for Youtube? Specifically...does anyone have thoughts on the SEO benefits of an @domain.com login vs @gmail.com login? Or is adding my url to the "Associated website" channel setting sufficient for SEO purposes?

Am I doing SEO test properly?
Hello, I just created a page for researching the impact of social signals on Google ranking (in Italy). Page was not optimized (one internal backlink, no other external/internal links, keyword repeated 4 or 5 + h1 h2, no alt tags), and only social signals are being stimulated (through votes). The domain is 2 months old and is already positioned for few relevant keywords, but from 2 page down. My question is: am I doing right? Is this a good way to proceed? And if not, what I should do instead? Thank you for an advice. Eugenio

Hi, A large number of my pages contain over 100 links. This is due to a large drop down navigation which is on every page. To reduce my link count could I just no follow these navigation links or would I have to remove the navigation completely?

Too many footer links?
Hi. We're working on http://www.gear-zone.co.uk/ at the moment, and I was wondering what's everyone's opinion on footer links. There's quite a lot on the page, and I was wondering if there might be a few too many. If so, what would be the best plan of action? Remove them altogether, stick them in an iframe or in a bit of JS so they can't be crawled? Thanks!

A Puzzling Link
I'm stumped and I'm hoping some mozzers will be able to help. I run our company blog (http://scottymacblog.com/). The last couple of days I have noticed that the blog is receiving some traffic from cnn.com. I looked, but cannot find any mention of the blog on cnn. Adding to my frustration is that the content on cnn is constantly changing. Our blog doesn't do any sort of advertising and no one affiliated with the blog posts on cnn. As great as it is to be getting traffic from such a valued source, I have no idea why. Has something like this happened to (for?) anyone else? Any ideas on how I can research the source of the link? Thanks in advance!
