Hotel finder for apartments
-
Hi, I'm seeing a roll-out of the Google hotel finder functionality in Google search for amsterdam apartments. It has now disappeared and shows just local results but I was wondering if anyone knows how to get holiday apartments / short stay apartments in Google Hotel Finder?
And has anyone else seen this happening, I'm wondering if this isn't just a G test.

I got it; it's a nice way of getting into the serp
Using Google my maps

Dr. Pete,
Check this attached screenshot; query: amsterdam shortstay apartments overview
Oh, and this is where you end up when you click google maps link:

Checked my data, and I get a handful of queries with Google Maps URLs, but they're all very specific, branded things, like "google driving directions" or "google earth street view".
-
Huh, that's weird. Haven't seen that, no.
-
Thanks Dr. Pete for the info.
Have you also seen this happening? Google maps search page in the serps?
-
Yeah, it gets tricky, as this data seems to come from multiple sources. Google is probably using local business (G+) data and industry data, but this is also, at least in part, a pilot paid program:
http://adwords.blogspot.com/2015/09/google-hotel-ads-makes-it-easier-for.html
The problem is that this program isn't open to everyone. So, make sure you're listed consistently across data sources, and, if you have an AdWords rep, push on them for your options. Beyond that, it's a waiting game, I'm afraid.

Hi Arnout,
Dr Pete has a post that runs through these areas here and is well worth a read. Search for the word HOTEL on that page.
Hotels w/ Book a Room Ads
Some Local Knowledge Panels for hotels allow you to check availability dates and link directly to booking services. Google is actively expanding both organic and paid hotel elements, including amenities data.
Google is always testing these kinds of things and they are definitely rolling this out - sounds like a test in your area perhaps?
Have a read of this article from Google on how the hotel finder works along with inclusion suggestions via your Local page.

Website is flagged as Compromised Site by Google
Hi everyone, We have been running Google Ads for a while now and last week all of our Google Ads were paused with reason Compromised Site. We reached out to Google and they identify this page as one of the affected page: https://manpower.com.vn/vi/dich-vu-san-dau-nguoi-and-tu-van-nhan-su-cap-cao? The malicious links they found are:
Paid Search Marketing | | ManpowerVietnam
• googie-anaiytics[.]com
• vty68[.]net We have asked our Website vendor to scan and they found nothing. We would be greatly appreciated if you could help. I tried Google Search Console and even the tool Google Safe Browsing that Google itself suggested but both the tools showed that our website does not have any malicious links at all. And yet Google Ads support team keeps telling us our page contains these links. I am wondering if anyone in the community has experienced this before and how did you address this issue. Or could you guys please help to share any tools that you know can do a deep scan on this page and if possible our entire website to help us identify where the links are located? Please let me know if you need any additional information from us and I would be happy to provide it.3 -
Unsolved Google Ads Subdomain in sitelinks & Composition Change for Strategy Status
I have a basic query but could not find a definite answer on the internet. I am currently running a campaign for the main website of a big education brand and they also have a secondary learning website on subdomain, and I want to add sitelinks of subdomain to the campaign, but I am not sure whether it is allowed or not. The brand I am running ads for is https://www.rauias.com/ and the secondary website is https://compass.rauias.com/ branded slightly different in a subdomain, so should I add the sitelinks of Compass to the main campaign? Also one more silly question My Max Conversion search campaign gave me this status today. "Learning (composition change): Campaigns have been added to or removed from the bid strategy. Google Ads is now adjusting to optimize bids. 5 days left for learning" What does this mean exactly? And Why does it reenter the learning phase whenever I make a small change?

Keyword & negative keyword overlap
So I just read your blog on quality score and after reading the negative keyword section I'm a little confused and I need clarification. In that paragraph you mentioned about not overlapping your negative keywords with your active keywords and you used an example of dog food and dog bed. So my question is, if you put the word dog bed into the negative keyword list isn't the word dog the over lap word? Would you ad not show because the word dog is in the active keyword list?

How would you respond to this doctor who demands to see his ads?
I work work for a health care system in the Midwest. We have a doctor in our transplant division who whenever we're in a meeting pulls out his phone and types in "kidney transplant" and ridicules me when our hospital is not on the page. I've long since given up trying to explain search intent to him (all the SERP results are showing information about kidney transplants, not information on where to get a transplant) along with trying to explain all the reasons why our ads don't necessarily show up on his phone despite us having a daily budget for that keyword. Without trying to explain how SEO or advertising online works, what would you do? I've toyed with eliminating advertising from the hospital zipcode so that I can just say we don't advertise in this zipcode at all, so of course our ads wouldn't pop up. I've also toyed with creating more informational content just so perhaps we can show up on the page, even though it's largely irrelevant (but I doubt we'd ever outrank the national brands that have written extensively on this). If someone types in "kidney hospital" or "transplant center" or anything relevant, we're instantly at the top of SERPs. But none of that matters to him. He only cares about showing up for "kidney transplant."

How to change booking system in SERP for a Hotel Result
Hi, I was wondering how can I change the reservation system that appears in the SERP when someone search for a hotel. Now, the price that is showing is from booking.com. Of course the Hotel wants to use its own reservation system. How could I do that? If It's possible, of course. I have attached an screenshot so that you can see an example. Thank you. serp.jpg
