What is the best practice for h1 titles for products inside categories? long tail or short tail?
-
Sorry for the title of this, but didn't know the best way to put it.
I have a question with category naming for products,
To keep things simple, I'll use shoes for this example.
Say I have a category, running-shoes, so the url would be, site.com/running-shoes/ and inside this category I have purple-pumas
so the url is site.com/running-shoes/purple-pumas/
And I have the title Purple Puma Running Shoes
Is that ok, or should I just use the title Purple Pumas ?
The breadcrumbs shows Home > Running Shoes > Purple Puma Running Shoes then and I wasn't sure if that would be too much? Or how about using another version of the keyword for the title, like Purple Puma Jogging sneakers?
Any ideas?
Thank you!

I'd make the breadcrumbs Home > Running Shoes > Purple Pumas and the title "Purple Puma Running Shoes". You have to think about what the customer needs when they land there. What if they have a screen reader? How do customers look at breadcrumbs? They're going to be looking to the title for information about what the product is when they come in from a search. Most of the time, brand names are only going to get you so far in customer's recognizing what something means with that brand.

Thanks for the responses,
When you say "Purple Puma Running Shoes" tells me a lot more about what the actual product is "shoes" specifically for "running" than a brand name.
Do you mean it's better to use that for the title and in the breadcrumbs?
I wasn't sure if it was redundant to have in the breadcrumbs, Home > Running Shoes > Purple Puma Running Shoes
Since the title was " Purple Puma Running Shoes " too, as this would be the product page for purple puma running shoes, and would be a major keyword phrase.
And how could you not want a pair of pumas! though I'd love a pair of green on blue pumas!

You should always think about what your customers are looking for and how they are interpreting the page. "Purple Puma Running Shoes" tells me a lot more about what the actual product is "shoes" specifically for "running" than a brand name.
In other news, I now want some Purple Puma Running Shoes.

My suggestion would be to use variations of the term running shoes. Chances are the term 'running shoes' is being used throughout the site and doesn't need to be stuffed into a product page. Search engines will draw connections through other keywords through the site and within the page. By using variations of the term you open the possibilities of additional terms to rank for.
This also applies to content on the pages, use variations of the terms rather than using the same phrase over and over.

Online shop - Long Titles & URLs acceptable?
Hi guys, We have this new online shop with over 1000 products (very technical products), synchronised with the SAP system of the company. So basically the page URLs are generated based on the following structure: Domain Name / Language / Product Category / Subcategory-1 / Subcategory-2 / Subcategory-3 / Product Name and Model Sometimes the URLs are over 130 characters length. Would this harm the shop's ranking, so should we really fix this, or it's something that can be ignored, having in mind the technical products in the shop? I would really appreciate your advice! Thanks!

The post permalink is "www.sitename.com/namepost". Last question, it's better to have one category for post or more than one category for post? Thank You

Best Practice on 301 Redirect - Images
We have two sites that sell the same products. We have decided to retire one of the sites as we'd like to focus on one property. I know best practice is to redirect apples to apples, which in our case is easily done since the sites sold the same thing. www.SiteABC.com/ProductA can be redirected to www.SiteXYZ.com/ProductA. My question is how far does that thinking go regarding images? Each product has a main product page, of course, and then up to 6 images in some cases. Is it necessary to redirect www.SiteABC.com/ProductA-Image1.jpg to www.SiteXYZ.com/ProductA-Image1.jpg? Or can they all be redirected to just the product page?

Best URL format for pagination
We're currently changing the URL format of our website search, we have been discussing a lot and cannot decide the past way to pass the pagination parameter for SEO. We narrowed down to the options. www.website.com/apples/p2 - www.website.com/apples?page=2 - www.website.com/apples/page/2 What would give us best ranking returns? What do you think?

Best Strategy to Rank Wordpress Category
Does anyone some suggestions for best practices when trying to rank categories using Wordpress? Unless you filter it, a category provides a complete list of all posts in that category. I can add a good title and description but am not sure beyond that. Has anyone tried using a sticky post in the category and putting keyword body text in that? Lookin' for ideas.
