Hey guys,
Just saying hello!

Hi @Logan Ray your answer is by far the most clear and simple answer that I ever heard of
What to do with the homepage from the perspective of seo?Good for you
-
Hi,
It sounds like you're trying to rank the homepage for something other than branded search. For most sites, the homepage should really only rank for branded keywords. Using interior pages is a much better approach for broad, non-branded keywords. Here are a few reasons why you'd want to rank interior pages:
- Interior pages are better configured for main keyword landing pages. The site structure often plays right into the organization of how you're associating keywords/topics with content on a page.
- You can do on-page optimization a lot easier for an interior page. You have more control over the URL, the title tag, etc..
- The user experience of someone landing on an interior page that's been optimized for the keyword/topic is going to be much better than the homepage.
- The homepage isn't only for SEO, so you might be confusing other people who land on your homepage that think your site only offers X & Y, but not Z because X & Y keywords you're trying to rank the homepage for.
*edit- I also noticed you have some odd usage of a noindex tag on the homepage, I'd nix that. I don't think it's accomplishing the intended goal, and could be creating some confusion for search engines.

Hey CLMS!
When you say "does not rank for any of the main keywords", do you mean that the home page doesn't rank just on page one or anywhere that you can find? This is an interesting one for sure.
I am wondering if the way the main text appears way down towards the bottom of the page. I'd think you would want all that unique content to be above those elements showing that it's important and not pushed down under all those products, images and links. Just a thought at first glance...
I'm digging around to see if there is anything I can find.

Question about reciprocal link building. I'm not an SEO professional, just a local service business owner.
I did a link page on my website 13 years ago and never took it down. Should we scratch that page all together? Is it ok with Google to do a page on Recommended local service providers. Maybe I can keep some of those reciprocal links if that's the case...

My DA went down by 10 points! Is it because I just started adding NO FOLLOW links?
Ug! Super upset. I went from a 41 to a 31, and I am not sure why. I did switch hosts 3 months ago, and I also JUST started using no follow links b/c someone told me that would help RAISE my DA. I would love any thoughts or advice. Thanks!

Arrrg . . . Just can't seem to get there
http://www.electricianinperth.com.au is one site that me and my colleagues are constantly struggling with. It has a page rank of 5 which beats a majority of the competitors, but when it comes to Google Australia searches such as Perth Electrician and Electrician Perth etc etc, we just can't seem to get there and the rankings keep fluctuating and dropping. We backlink and update the pages on a regular basis Any ideas? - Could it be the custom Wordpress/CMS system?

I just uncovered a massive 500+ domain PBN linking to competitors
As the title, some competitors I've been watching are using a PBN they (or their agency) have built. I'm looking to get some discussion on how you approach situations like this - do you just report all of the domains to Google and pray they do something? There are 4 sites I'm looking at, all competing in the same niche with very similar websites (different branding and content, but essentially the same pages). I thought all were related, but after Excel-ing all the domains to see which overlap I've found that there's several sets; PBN 1 covers 117 domains that link to competitors A, B & C. Signaling to me that these are owned by the same person. PBN 2 links together B & C with 30 domains, PBN 3 is just C with 40 domains. PBN 4 is just B with 105 domains. PBN 5 is just A with 10 domains. PBN 6 is D by itself with more than 340 domains. Signaling to me that this one probably isn't owned by the same person. It looks like new domains are added to these PBNs every week and this has been going on for quite some time. Now, I'm fully against use of PBNs that don't use authentic websites that provide value, and I can't find any of these sites that aren't just a basic WP template with a single-word text logo followed by spun content. This is a goldmine, because according to Ahrefs these sites are pulling in well over 500,000 monthly visitors between them, and these links make up the majority of each site's link profile. If these networks were to crumble, that would open up a big opportunity for more authentic sites to rank well. How would you recommend to tackle this? Do I find example URLs and write reports for each of the 500+ domains or are there better ways of working through this?

Is it worth pursing PR and guest posting just for links?
I'm still new to SEO, but I have a decent foundation on it. To me, it seems like guest posting and earning PR on quality sites is good for the coverage, but will those one-off links really make a difference? I'd have to assume that SEOs earn their worth when they build scalable links (i.e. tools that people link to, guides, etc) So, while PR is nice, I feel as if I shouldn't focus my time there, but spending time on building a product such as QuickSprout.com's SEO audit tool, Cappex's college match tool, CNN's budget calculator, Moz's google weather report, etc.

Creating profiles just to get a link is black hat?
Hi, i have a competitor that is creating profiles in sites that passes ranks in links and putting some links with good anchor text in the bio field. This can be considered a black hat seo? This competitor is getting good rank up with these pratices and i dont know if i can use these same sites too. link to profile: http://interact.webstandards.org/member/89166/ There are a lot of more sites with profiles with no content and just a link to the site. Thanks in advance, Denis
