Content suggestions

Hi,
In moz pro you get content suggestions.
I was wondering if you can still rank if the topics you cover for a specific keyword on your page are not listed there ?
I guess the key is that all the topics covered are related to each other, correct ? Thank you,

No problem - If you found this useful, I'd appreciate it if you could mark my answer as a 'Good Answer'

Thank you for the clarification. I will have a look into all this.

I've just had a quick search for 'Alsace bike tour' and is this a form of holiday cycling break?
If so, to me the keyword 'Alsace bike tour' would come under the Consideration stage as the user isn't quite ready to make a decision and book/purchase. So I would do some additional keyword research that looks for keywords and long tail phrases that users may use before they start searching for this? Hopefully that makes sense. You want to find some **Awareness **and Decision stage keywords.
As an example:
Awareness/Cluster Content: 'Best Cycling Holidays' with a content piece with something like '10 Of The Best Cycling Holidays in Europe'
**Consideration/Pillar: **'Alsace bike tour' with a page on your site dedicated to this package - detailing every little piece of information that any user may find useful. Remember to link out to any relevant cluster content that you create too.
**Decision/Target: **'Book Alsace bike tour' this is where users will come to book any packages that you have on offer for Alsace.
Use Moz's Keyword Explorer, Google's Keyword Planner, SEMrush and browse forums to get an idea of what people are searching for.

Hi Daniel,
Thank you for your quick response. It does help but this technic to me at least works well on " How to question" but what about on the keyword "Alsace bike tour" for example.
What would be the different stages ?
Thank you,
-
For content marketing I'd highly recommend looking at the HubSpot inbound methodology and buyers journey.
You may or may not be aware that users tend to go through something called a 'buyers journey' passing through three key stages that are 'Awareness, Consideration and Decision' with content labelled as Cluster, Pillar and Target.
When it comes to creating content you should try to bare this in mind. For example:
If you were a personal trainer you might do some keyword research and find the following, marking it at different stages of the buyers journey and content type.
Awareness/Cluster Content: 'how to get fit' (the user has an issue that they are trying to find a solution for)
Consideration/Pillar Content: 'personal training sessions' (after researching, they have found a potential solution)
Decision/Target Content: 'book personal training sessions' (after further research, they know what they want/need)When you have a detailed keyword list with ideas that fall into these parts of the journey it should make creating content a little easier.
In answer to your question:
Just because you're not targeting a specific keyword doesn't mean that you won't rank for it (it will just make it less likely and more difficult). Ideally, you want to create 'Pillar Content' as this will be the main category of a subject. You would then create and link to/from the related 'Cluster Content'.
Google is very good at determining certain keywords and other related terms such as synonyms and something called LSI keywords. If you're not targeting other related terms but mention them in your content, chances are you may get a small amount of traffic from it as long as the content is of good enough quality.
Hopefully this helps?

Medical / Health Content Authority - Content Mix Question
Greetings, I have an interesting challenge for you. Well, I suppose "interesting" is an understatement, but here goes. Our company is a women's health site. However, over the years our content mix has grown to nearly 50/50 between unique health / medical content and general lifestyle/DIY/well being content (non-health). Basically, there is a "great divide" between health and non-health content. As you can imagine, this has put a serious damper on gaining ground with our medical / health organic traffic. It's my understanding that Google does not see us as an authority site with regard to medical / health content since we "have two faces" in the eyes of Google. My recommendation is to create a new domain and separate the content entirely so that one domain is focused exclusively on health / medical while the other focuses on general lifestyle/DIY/well being. Because health / medical pages undergo an additional level of scrutiny per Google - YMYL pages - it seems to me the only way to make serious ground in this hyper-competitive vertical is to be laser targeted with our health/medical content. I see no other way. Am I thinking clearly here, or have I totally gone insane? Thanks in advance for any reply. Kind regards, Eric

Which One Would You Suggest Me in Terms of Internalization?
Hi Friends, This is my website http://goo.gl/fYndv. As of now, we have only one domain and we have contents in both English & Arabic. Arabic is translated content from English. So, we use alternate tags to indicate Google about that. We mostly receive traffic from Saudi Arabia because we are based out there. Now, we are planning to target major countries like India, Australia & So on. We know like creating sub-folders over sub-domains would be good like example.com/in/ over in.exmaple.com. But we are not going to change any contents only currency gets changed in those geo-graphic sub-domains or sub-folders. I just want to know, since I am not going to change the contents will it be good if I go with sub-folder like example.com/in. Is there any chance for Google penalization?

Duplicate content issue with pages that have navigation
We have a large consumer website with several sections that have navigation of several pages. How would I prevent the pages from getting duplicate content errors and how best would I handle SEO for these? For example we have about 500 events with 20 events showing on each page. What is the best way to prevent all the subsequent navigation pages from getting a duplicate content and duplicate title error?

Interlinking from unique content page to limited content page
I have a page (page 1) with a lot of unique content which may rank for "Example for sale". On this page I Interlink to a page (page 2) with very limited unique content, but a page I believe is better for the user with anchor "See all Example for sale". In other words, the 1st page is more like a guide with items for sale mixed, whereas the 2nd page is purely a "for sale" page with almost no unique content, but very engaging for users. Questions: Is it risky that I interlink with "Example for sale" to a page with limited unique content, as I risk not being able to rank for either of these 2 pages Would it make sense to "no index, follow" page 2 as there is limited unique content, and is actually a page that exist across the web on other websites in different formats (it is real estate MLS listings), but I can still keep the "Example for sale" link leading to page 2 without risking losing ranking of page 1 for "Example for sale"keyword phrase I am basically trying to work out best solution to rank for "Keyword for sale" and dilemma is page 2 is best for users, but is not a very unique page and page 2 is very unique and OK for users but mixed up writing, pictures and more with properties for sale.

2 URLS pointing to the same content
Hi, We currently have 2 URL's pointing to the same website (long story why we have it) - A & B. A is our main website but we set up B as a rewrite URL to use for our Pay Per Click campaign. Now because its the same site, but B is just a URL rewrite, Google Webmaster Tools is seeing that we have thousands of links coming in from site B to site A. I want to tell Google to ignore site B url but worried it might affect site A. I can't add a no follow link on site B as its the same content so will also be applicable on Site A. I'm also worried about using Google Disavow as it might impact on site A! Can anyone make any suggestions on what to do, as I would like to hear from anyone with experience with this or can recommend a safe option. Thanks for your time!

Penguin recovery - Any suggestions?
Hey Guys. To be honest i havent heard about any case of penguin recovery yet except from the famous WMPU revocery (if u ask me it dosent count really) Any way I own a few sites.. that got hit by Penguin. I did remove 90% of the "suspected as bad links" and apply to google reconsideration. in return i got an answer after a few days from google saying :"We reviewed your site and found no manual actions by the webspam team that might affect your site's ranking in Google. There's no need to file a reconsideration request for your site, because any ranking issues you may be experiencing are not related to a manual action taken by the webspam team.... and so on" So what they saying is that the engine still think that your links are spammy.. what should i do?? i truy removed most of the links but homepage isnt really showing any progress.. he is just no where.. Idaes? Case Studies?
