No index and Crawl Budget
-
Hello,
If we noindex pages, will it improve crawl budget ?
For example pages like these -
https://x-z.com/2012/10/
https://x-y.com/2012/06/
https://x-y.com/2013/03/
https://x-y.com/2019/10/
https://x-y.com/2019/08/Should we delete/redirect such pages ?
Thanks

Hi Nigel,
We don;t have a large site, so this won't be a problem as you pointed out.
However, we don't have relevant content as of now. That's why i asked about deleting such type of pages.
Thanks

Hi John
If the pages are old and have had no useful visits then it would make sense to forward them to more relevant content. This would be standard SEO practice anyway. However, unless you have 1000's of pages then crawling and indexing your site really isn't a problem. If you had a very large site with frequently updated pages then it could be a problem. You can change the crawl rate but if it is 'calculated as optimal' then you needn't bother worrying. read more here...

How to change noindex to index?
Hey, I've recently upgraded to a pro SEOmoz account and have realised i have 14574 issues to do with 'blocked by meta-robot' and that 'This page is being kept out of the search engine indexes by the meta tag , which may have a value of "noindex", keeping this page out of the index.' How can i change this so my pages get indexed? I read somewhere that i need to change my privacy settings but that thread was 3 years old and now the WP Dashboard has updated.. Please let me know Many thanks, Jamie P.s Im using WordPress 3.5 And i have the XML sitemap plugin And i have no idea where to look for this robots.txt file..

Crawling a subfolder with a dev site
I am trying to set up a campaign where I am crawling a subfolder of our main site where I have dev version of the new site. However, even though the new site resolves and I have included the full resolving URL but the crawl results come back saying that only one page has been crawled. The site has had a protected block on it for a period of time but this has now been removed. Any ideas? Thanks Nick

Duplicate content issue index.html vs non index.html
Hi I have an issue. In my client's profile, I found that the "index.html" are mostly authoritative than non "index.html", and I found that www. version is more authoritative than non www. The problem is that I find the opposite situation where non "index.html" are more authoritative than "index.html" or non www more authoritative than www. My logic would tell me to still redirect the non"index.html" to "index.html". Am I right? and in the case I find the opposite happening, does it matter if I still redirect the non"index.html" to "index.html"? The same question for www vs non www versions? Thank you

So instead of adding "noindex, follow" tag i have changed the url in my search result page like this: Original
http://www.mysite.com/kb-search.aspx?=travelguide&type=wiki&s=3 To
http://www.mysite.com/travelguide/attraction-guide.html And the search result page contains the title of the articles, a short descriptions (300 chars.) and a link to the articles. Does it help? Or should i add noindex, follow tag? Helps Please?0
