When Search for Blog Guest and to Post, What is the FIRST Metric to lookk at???
-
I have a online store selling furnace filters. For link building, I started to post on guest blogs
I'm new to posting on guest blog and I would like to know what are the most important metrics to look at when selecting a blog?
The P.A. ???
I did a few test and this is what I did:
-
in the Goolge-BLOG tab option search for K.W like: ''furnace filters'' ''air furnace filters''
-
Look at Google results and (MozBar is installed on browser) slect blog with P.A. of 15 or higher
-
Read the post and if I have a relevant content to add, post on the blog and had my infos, store url...
-
Then I keep the blog URL and see if my post get approve and publish.
Thank you,
BigBlaze

That's a pretty solid method, but I think you need to look at a few more things at the same time. I don't think it's completely safe to look at just 1 metric.
PA and DA is a good one - but look at how many outbound links are on the homepage, particularly if they have a blogroll. If I see a blog that looks like it's selling text links in the blog roll or footer, I don't want to post there because the blog could find itself deindexed. If you have a link from a deindexed site, it could harm your rankings.
I'd also look at social media metrics and comment count. Whenever I guest blog, I want to make sure I'm posting for an active, engaged audience - links are secondary to this. Maybe look at the first 5 blog posts and count how many comments they all have. Maybe look for blogs with at least 3 comments in the first 5 posts.
There are a number of other things to consider as well, such as checking if the site is in a bad neighbourhood, but for a quick check of a lot of potential blogs, I think PA, Outbound links and comments are a good place to start. Before posting, however, I'd always check the rest of the metrics.

What are your favorite "reverse guest posting" techniques?
There's plenty of content out there that teaches how to become a guest author on other blogs. However, I'm looking for ideas on how to attract other authors to post on our own blog (www.reviewjump.com/blog). Specifically, we're targeting agencies and marketers to write for us. Admittedly, it's a fairly new blog, but we've done quite a bit of outreach so far, and this hasn't been brought up as a concern. Ironically, we've found that many agencies we've spoken with don't even maintain their own blog. I'm guessing if they don't author their own, why would they spend the effort to write for ours? Anyway, to make it easy for authors to apply, we even created a specific page for it (www.reviewjump.com/guest-author/). And I know that while some sites charge $100's for guest posts, this would be free for our published authors. We are making some headway with our outreach, but I was searching for any helpful ideas you can share on what works for you and your "reverse guest posting" strategies. Thanks in advance!

Add a Search box (content hub) for my website?
Hello We would like to introduce a search area in our website, to help our users to find all information regarding a specific topic (landing pages, infographics, blogs, videos, etc...). Before we decide to build everything internally, we were wondering if there is any widget or plugging to make this in a smooth way and that works fine. I have also seen that Google offers a custom search option to make this happens. I would really appreciate advice about what to do regarding this topic: Is there any company that offers a really good solution for this? Is worth to use Google custom search option? Or the best option is build it internally? PS: I have seen that there are many plugins for wordpress, but our site is not a wordpress blog. Just to clarify. Many thanks for your help 🙂

What are the effects of posting on a blog site using copied content from your site if you source the site on the blog site?
I have noticed that some of my pages from my site are posted to different blog sites and directory submissions they are word for word what is on my site but at the bottom of the page it does list my site as the source and there are links in the text back to my site. Is this going to negatively effect my rankings or is it ok since my site is sourced in the article?

Google authorship works on posts, but not on root domain.
When I check Google authorship via the tool Google provides, it says I am confirmed for individual posts, but not for my root domain. I’m using WordPress, and individual posts are fine, but not the blog as a whole. I am the only author… and have given it a week, thinking perhaps it needed time... but no luck. Any suggestions? Thank you!!

Harder and harder to get articles approved on My Blog Guest
Hi People, So I got a My Blog Guest account (paid) and have now for a while, I do back the service as its a great system and works well BUT mods are making it very hard work. I put up around 20 articles a month on this site which costs me £300+ to have produced by a professional copywriter and the standard is very high, I get feedback from bloggers commenting on how good the articles are because of the quality of the content (articles are 500 - 550 words). So all I ask in return is 1 link in the body and 1 link in the byline. I ask the copy writer to put a particular keyword somewhere in the content where it best fits, if its a top 5/top 10 article the keyword sometimes fits best in the first few paragraphs before it flows into the list. This is where the problem is: Now these articles are good, they have to be as there for a company with products in major high street retail stores so quality is not an issue. If I put the link in the first paragraph I get these kind of responses: "Linking from opening paragraph is rude to say at least" If I put the link in the second paragraph I get these kind of responses: "Please move your body link to the bottom of the article or better the byline" "The normal procedure is to Hide articles with links in the first few paragraphs like this one...Please edit to put the link in the second half of the article" "Links should be in the second half of the post" Then the articles are taken down until I do what they say! It's my article I can put the link where I want its up to the blog owner whether they want it or not, its not the content you want to administrate its the quality of the blogs, I got users private emailing me asking me to buy links, I've got users applying for articles where there using blogspot and wordpress free sites with content scrapped from the web. I think they got bigger problems then a link in the second paragraph and not the third.

Opinions for the Long URL strings in WordPress Blogs.
We use Wordpress for our agency Blogs. The URL's are very long and the Moz does not like the long URL's. Should we use the stubby, short Wordpress URL's for each blog post? Is there a "Best Practice" for how one should use the Wordpress URL string?

External Domain for Company Blog
Please help me decide the benefit (from an SEO perspective) of hosting a company blog externally (either on blogger or self-setup external domain) or hosting on company's website.
