Competitors links increasing rapidly
-
Hi there,
I have 3 main competitors who I keep my eye on within Moz and I am always comparing pages as they are all sell similar products in the same way but we're increasingly getting more things put in place to make ourselves different, which is why we rank number 1 in the UK for their competitive keywords (without blowing my own trumpet!).
One thing I have noticed, a competitor seems to be doing things the old school way. He has around 15 competitive keywords in his pages meta tag (irrelevant) and then has a huge 400 - 500 word description on each page describing whats on the page, what products are in that category (if it's a category page) or localised information if it's a company page.
What seems to be odd, is that before penguin/panda their website had around 1,200,000 total links. Then after panda, he went down to around 300,000 total links.
In the past few weeks I've noticed that he has gradually increased in total links from 300,000(estimate) to now 961,811 total links in a matter of weeks.
Is this an error/glitch within Moz or is he doing something that may be classed as "blackhat" or is it something I shouldn't really be worrying about?
Any feedback appreciated
Tom

Very eye opening stuff in there! It seems he is linked with lots of spammy "false" blogs made to look like human generated blog posts but are exactly the same content wise across several "joe bloggs" websites just giving a review on a product they happened to buy from this company.
Very interesting... Looks like my years of doing things by the book will eventually pay off if he carrys on like this and gets himself a nice penalty from Google
Thank you!

check his "Link Anchor Text" via OSE, see how natural the back links are (he might be using a lot of anchor text in these new links)
You could also use "Just-Discovered" in OSE, to see what he is up to.
If hes buying links and breaking penguin rules I wouldn't be that worried, but it is always worrying when you see a competitor start to seo stuff, some day he might start doing it right

Disavowing links and disavow tool
Hello, I have had a look on webmaster tools and Moz and can see lots of bad links on Moz only. I am thinking whether to disavow them and was wondering if you could you let me know if it is possible to have a look at your current disavow file? I do not currently know what links were included the previous time. Is there a way to check if there are any links in the file at all? I thought I would raise this question as there is a lot of negative info about the disavow tool.

Why does page report still have "Too Many Links" alert?
I'm a new Moz Pro user and see that the on-page optimization report includes "too many links" on page and references the "100 links" guideline that Google no longer endorses: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=l6g5hoBYlf0 Too many links is still an issue in terms of passing link juice, but not much else. Matt Cutts has stated that it is fine to have many internal links in this regard. Please correct me if I am mistaken.

Site Explorer shows links as followable but they have nofollow tags
Hello, I am looking at site explorer and sites linking to my site moneyfact.co.uk. I've got thousands of links showing as 'followable' but when i check them they have rel="nofollow" tags. e.g: http://www.dianomioffers.co.uk/partner/moneyfacts.co.uk/brochures.epl?partner=93&partner_id=93&partner_variant_id=33 Why would they show as followable when the links are nofollowed? Thanks Steve

Sitewide links causing problem
Hello, I've had a couple of people look at the backlink profile for nlpca(dot)com and tell me that there were a lot of sitewide links with non-branded anchor text. The spreadsheet is [here](http://thewealthymind.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/anchor-text.xls). Actually, because of our company name, all sitewide links have branded anchor text except for http://www.iepdoc.nl

http://www.ionut-ciurea.com The term "NLP" is not ranking for us, we should be on page 1 or 2. Also, we used to be sitelinked for "NLP California" and aren't anymore. Notice that "nlpca" splits into "nlp" and "ca" for California. Could you look and see if it is just those 2 sites and if all we need to do is contact them to change to branded anchor text. Or if it's something else to get back our rankings for "NLP" and our sitelinks for "NLP California" Thank you0 -
I am trying to find inbound links for one of my site urls. My question is does SEOMoz able to track all internal links as the Open Site Explorer shows 0 internal links?
It shows 0 internal links when I am pretty sure we have multiple internal links.Should we use absolute urls or relative urls for internal links?

Open Site Explorer WAY Off in Terms of Link Profiles?
Hey, One of our websites is www.inspireeducation.net.au. I have noticed although tools like Raventools capture our links well, Open Site Explorer is doing a terrible job... For example the following page >>> http://www.inspireeducation.net.au/courses/training-and-assessment-courses/certificate-iv-in-training-and-assessment/ has many many more than 8 root domains linking, however Open Site Explorer only presents 8? We are finding the same problem for almost any page we review through Open Site. Does anyone have any idea why the numbers would be so out? The new links are NOT fresh links. Many are well-established (been there for years), and even many newer ones have been there for more that 60 days. I find the same thing when reviewing competitor sites.. is Open Site Explorer working properly at all at the moment?

Does linking to relevant high authority websites effect your MozTrust or Rank?
Basically what the title says. I am having a hard time understanding why a compeitor with less linking domains and none of any real quality, they're all membership sites or partnerships, nothing to relevant to the industry. While we have links and articles on us from multiple magazines in our industry. As well as to relevant directories with high domain ranks. The only thing I noticed is they're linking to their clients website, which are all high authority websites. So do external links count towards your MozTrust or Rank?
