Duplicate meta descriptions
-
Hi all,
Google webmaster point me to duplicate meta descriptions problem between pages with difference URL but have the same canonical URL.
What could be the reason?https://treato.com/ParaGard,tired/?a=s
https://treato.com/ParaGard,Tiredness/?a=s
https://treato.com/ParaGard,tired/?a=s
https://treato.com/ParaGard,Tiredness/?a=s -
Ah... I see what's happening
Basically what might be going wrong is your concerns section like here - https://treato.com/ParaGard,Side+Effects/?a=s#concerns
If you keep expanding the list, the number of reported cases goes down but the list is almost infinite. Somewhere down the line you have someone that selected "tired" instead of "tiredness" which caused the first issue. Not sure why you're getting flagged for ParaGard vs Paragard though, because you have a 301 redirect in place to catch that.
The tired vs Tiredness issue is one you need to address (consolidate similar topics through redirects or run a script to find close variations), because those differences are indexed as separate URLs. That's going to cause problems both for ranking and for user navigation/experience.

Hi There
I'm not sure it makes sense having multiple URLs like that to being with? The content looks the same for each, why not just link to one consistent version internally?
-
It seems like they don't always use the canonical in Google Search Console to use the data for the duplicate meta description and other data. I've seen this with a huge data set that we've used.

I have the same issue, also wondering a proper fix, since whats being mentioned as a duplicate title and meta des are redirects of the same product page.
Thanks for asking this and I look forward to hearing a response.

My automated build system is creating a duplicate website
Because of the tools my company is using for CI/CD (A CI/CD pipeline helps you automate steps in your software delivery process, such as initiating code builds, running automated tests, and deploying to a staging or production environment.) an extra URL is generated. The canonical for the generated site is that of our main website, but other than that it is the same website. Could this new URL compete with our website? Will Google count it against us since it is the same content BUT with canonical (it is not noindex-ed)? Does it matter? Surely others are using this method? Answers/thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Is the meta referrer tag still used
Is the meta meta referrer tag still used and is it affective. I have an issue with traffic going from one of my sites to a client site and our referral is going into their direct traffic (in Googel Analytics) instead of being seen as a referral from our site. I saw that people were using the meta referral tag, but I can't find any MOZ info about it other than a blog article from 2015.

Would updating Meta Titles affect Google analytics tracking?
Hi All, I need a little bit of help. We need to optimize our blog's articles Meta titles for SEO which all exceed 100 characters. I was told that if we change the titles, google analytics would split the tracking pages and count the data as 2 pages (old title and new title). Has any of you have this experience before and if so, is there a way to avoid google analytics counting this as two pages? Thanks in advance! Moz analytics showing joomla tag feature as duplicate page content
Moz Analytics is showing Joomla 3 tag pages as Duplicate Page Content because many articles are tagged with multiple words and therefore show up on the same tag-pages. example URL: www.domain.com/tag/tagID-tagname I already added "tag" as a URL parameter with Crawl=No URLs. Is there anything else I should do?

Anyone have this situation before or can explain why Google see a single page with duplicate meta descriptions?

Meta Robots Tag - What's it really mean?
I used on a handful of pages recently and noticed that they're still popping up in the Google search index. I'd like to keep these from appearing, so I figured I needed a directive statement with stronger semantic meaning. From what I understand, is what I'm looking for. Using this will keep Google from not only crawling the page, but indexing the page, as well. I decided to see what the official robotstxt.org website said about it, so I checked (link here): the NOFOLLOW directive only applies to links on this page. It's entirely likely that a robot might find the same links on some other page without a NOFOLLOW (perhaps on some other site), and so still arrives at your undesired page. So, is their explanation saying that the page itself will be indexed, but the content / links on it won't be followed / indexed? Let me hear your thoughts, mozzers.
