I have a client that wants listed in about twenty surrounding small towns surrounding Dayton , Oh
-
Is this ok to do?. It will be alot of keywords. we are talking about 20 different communities surrounding Dayton, Oh.
-
We have several clients that need this type reach. Using an "in your Area" navigation link, and then as stated bt EGOL and bookworm, doing a community page for each city works pretty well. So one page listing the communities, and a page linked to that page with each cities information.
The only other point I would make is you will need to add some serious link's and citations to the site, and the individual pages will need some attention as well. Reviews from customers noting the city are very helpful as well.
-
Saying you need a history there is like saying you have to have existed to start a new business, which is illogical. By that reasoning, a new business could never get started, nor could businesses ever expand their geographic scope of operations.
A more relevant issue is having the resources to market yourself in 20 new communities. (I think this is what EGOL was getting at about having a presence in each town.) First, that means you're limiting your ability to get word of mouth to work for you. Second, it means you'll need to get links for at least 20 places. That's a lot of networking/resources ... Wouldn't it be smarter to go for a handful of surrounding towns to start? It's more manageable, and gives you better odds with WOM.
-
In addition to EGOL's suggestions, I'd offer that you definitely don't want to seed eveyr town name in the sidebar or footer of every pages on the site. Keep it clean as EGOL describes - unique content for each town. And if you can get town specific links pointing to the relevant town pages, that will help.
-
Sure, its OK to do - if your client really has a history and a presence in each of those communities.
Let's say that your client does high-end landscaping. You could create a website with one page for each community where he has done at least one highly visible project and - with owner permission - feature them in a fantastic photo gallery. The great photos will be a testament to his work, demonstrate his reputation in each community and instill confidence and trust in potential clients.
Get professional photos and offer them to the clients for use on their website with a possible link to the photo gallery.
Be sure that you have genuine content. I would not make a site that has twenty pages of yada, yada, yaday, yada Oakwood..... yada, yada, yaday, yada Shiloh..... yada, yada, yaday, yada Riverside..... You will be filtered for doing that.

Is 11k-30k search traffic too high for a small blog with low domain authority to compete for? Is competition all that matters?
Trying to decide on a keyword phrase for my next post. One of the two phrases I'm deciding between has 100x more traffic but the priority is wayyy higher and the competition is just one point higher (54 vs 53). I'm hesitant to write on a post that gets 11k-30k monthly volume however b/c it just seems like too much traffic for a small blog with a domain authority of only 18 to compete with. But if the competition is nearly the same and the priority is higher, should I go for it anyway? I generally go for things with lower traffic thinking I will be able to better compete. Thanks!

Small Business website help please. All help is appreciated and thank you in advance.
Hello I am working on my families website, it is a Colorado barn construction site. I am new here, so any and all help is appreciated. I have already gotten some excellent tips for general seo, but now trying to pinpoint in on a target. I am reading as much as I can everyday. My questions are: Keywords... Ok so when I type in keywords and the results come up, even with an exact match, I am 12 pages back. So what influences the keyword rankings? Is it best to add in like say a service into a paragraph? Like I have been using Ubersuggest or however its spelled, and so would you take keyword phrases and then try to naturally add them to paragraphs? Is this how rankings are created? Thus your site being found? I have major competition that does not even have the keywords I type in, found on there site, and they still rank #1. So I feel that it must lead into my next question DA. Domain Authority: I assume domain authority comes into play. The leading company in my world has a 50 and I have a 15. I am trying to raise this, and using the Moz tools I see my competitor has like 400 edu links. So in some ways it seems like wow get as many edu links as possible. But now it seems like this is not good? Like everyone is afraid to get links that may be considered spam in nature. That being said, would you still go after edu links? Media: So kind of an odd question, but does adding a video to a home page help bounce rates? Like maybe if they sit and watch a two minute video that is interesting, then they may check out the rest of the site? Or for the sake of load times, do you keep the homepage as fast as possible? Thank you for any tips. Also if you view my site, please give me any negative feedback as you can to help me improve. Thank you Chris

SEO for small, independent insurance agencies -- is it possible?
I work with a lot of small, independent insurance agencies and have found through keyword research that most people search for insurance by state (e.g. pennsylvania auto insurance) or simple by product (e.g. auto insurance). Only if an agency is located in a densely populated city like San Francisco do I see people searching for insurance by city. As you can probably guess, these keywords are extremely competitive. Big companies like Geico and Progressive tend to take over page one for these searches. So, if I'm trying to optimize a website for an insurance agency in Quakertown, PA, for example, a small town with very few monthly searches (zero according to Google's keyword tool), how should I focus my on-page SEO efforts? Should I focus on "state + insurance," "city + insurance," or a combination of both? Or am I approaching this all wrong? Thank you in advance for your help. I'm feeling really stumped and would appreciate any fresh perspective.

Where can I find lists of high probability of winning keywords
Keyword research can take a lot of time. Suppose you are not sure of what keywords you want to rank for but just want to see a list of phrases that have 500-5000 searches a day, low cost and low competition because you are looking for phrases that interest you for which it will be easier to rank close to #1 in google. Besides AdWords Keyword Tool, are there sites that specialize in this?
