How to organize content for ecommerce site
-
Hello,
We've decided to create 24 articles of content for our ecommerce site, everything from an FAQ to history of the products to 10 articles on the top 10 products. Really useful to the user.
How do you suggest that we make our content visible to the users?
We could put a nice button on our right banner that says "Extensive Help Session" or we could put a banner on our home page or we could make it a tab at the top of the screen. We could additionally make a well organized footer with links to the articles. Or we could do all of those but that might be overkill.
What do you suggest?

Sounds good. Do I call that page "Articles", "Help Section", "Information", or something else? What is most likely to draw the user?
-
I would do my best to promote these pages.
I would have a special page on the site that links to all of these resources. A link to that page might also go in your persistent navigation. I would also have links to these pages from relevant product pages.
Don't for get to use these pages to promote relevant products. This can be done by placing text links within the articles and image links in locations where they will be obvious.

Thoughts on Evan Carmichael for Content Marketing & SEO?
We used to have a lot of success repurposing content through EvanCarmichael.com, but it seems like our articles are being de-indexed there very frequently now. I'd love to hear some others' opinions on Evan Carmichael and how worthwhile it is to keep publishing there. Thanks!

Content Syndication Service
Am curious to get the forum's opinion on content syndication services like SYNND . Has anyone tried them or any other content syndication networks. Does the forum have any recommendations for good quality syndication networks that can be used to distribute content to quality sources.

SEO for a News based site : Outdated content
How do we maintain the SEO of a 5 year old News content based site? How should we deal with 3-4 year old content, which are outdated or not searched? Some of them are still useful as archiving/history of a topic..but not searched.... ?? Should we no-index them? or should we keep it like that?

How to Get Rid of Duplicate Content Captured on Article Lists
We have a ton of articles and blog posts on our site. Currently, we display summary lists of articles that contain the first paragraph of the article in the summary list. However, in my reports, this is coming back as duplicate content with the full article itself. How do I fix this? Ex: article main page- http://www.robots.com/articles/10 First article on that page- http://www.robots.com/articles/viewing/grippers-for-robots (which shows up as duplicate content with the main artilce page). With our blogs, we have the most recent 5 blogs (in the same summary format) listed on our main blog page. We then have categories that people can sort by. But again, this is causing us duplicate content because those pages show the first paragraph of the blogs related to that category. Ex: blog main page- http://www.robots.com/blog. First blog listed on that page- http://www.robots.com/blog/viewing/robots-and-automation-bringing-jobs-back-to-the-united-states (which then shows as duplicate content with the main blog page). And then you can also select categories to see related topics: http://www.robots.com/blog/category/buying-a-robot which is showing as duplicate content also. Help! How can I prevent this? Thanks! Will a comment section on my site help with seo
I have never been a fan of comment pages such as the sun http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/4783642/bruce-willis-appears-on-the-one-show-in-awkward-interview.html but i was told the other day that not only is it good for the reader but it is also good for seo and increase the number of times that google would visit the page and i would like to know if that is true. if you have added a comment section to your articles i would like to know if you have noticed any change.

Nearely identical content
Hi Everybody, I'm just checking the warnings from Seomoz an realized that on our site there are a lot of duplicate page content problems. In fact some of them are not really duplicated content because there are subtle differencies ie. colour or pack of products: http://www.szepsegbolt.hu/termekek/david_beckham_intimately_yours_for_man_eau_de_toilette_30_ml.html http://www.szepsegbolt.hu/termekek/david_beckham_intimately_yours_for_man_eau_de_toilette_50_ml.html What do you suggest, ignore this warning or change something on the site? Thank you in advance Balint

Onsite Content - Word Count & KW Density
Does the word count of a webpage make a difference to search engines? Are longer word counts on pages indexed higher or given higher priority? For example, say you have 300 words of copy packed with 20 keywords, and say you also have 700 words of copy that have the same 20 keywords worked in, does Google have a preference over which one it ranks higher?

Please help me stop google indexing https pages on my wordpress site
I added SSL to my wordpress blog because that was the only way to get a dedicated IP address for my site at my host. Now I am noticing Google has started indexing posts both as http and https. Can some one please help how to force google not to index https as I am sure its like having duplicate content. All help is appreciated. So far I have added this to top of htaccess file: RewriteEngine on Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} ^443$ RewriteRule ^robots.txt$ robots_ssl.txt And added robots_ssl.txt with following: User-agent: Googlebot Disallow: / User-agent: * Disallow: / But https pages are still being indexed. Please help.
