Starting an SEO Business - Stuff you need - HELP
-
When you started your SEO Business what software do you use to give information to your clients?
How did you decide what to charge for your services?
What services do you offer?
Best tools to use?
Any other information you think might be relevant?
Thanks ahead

Maybe you should move away from packages and work on a client by client basis as different clients will have different needs and you might be shooting yourself in the foot when it comes to a client with a bigger budget.

me personally I been in SEO since the start of the year so enjoying the learning process and getting my head roung everything. Good to ask questions from more experienced people like yourself.
At the moment we offer a basic package with 6 keywords but I am trying to move the company so we expand our ability and resources that is why I wondering how more established companies run so I know how to move in the right direction.

??
-
ah sorry I didn't realise you already had the business going.
How has the jump been?
How long have you been an SEO?
-
Hi
I can do most things just geting ready to move the company forward to ofer a better service
-
Hi Paul, PDF or EXCEL. Doesn't need to be branded. Depends how much effort it requires. And giving them a report from seomoz is somehow transparent and credible.
-
Hi Paul,
I wouldn't have thought your day to day will change that much on how you present data etc that should just happen with your knowledge and how you grow and evolve your learnings.
If you are thinking about making the jump you should probably thinking about how you are going to be actually running a business and as for services your question to yourself should be what services can I actually off.
What is your skill set? Can you hire someone to do the things you can't?
-
Hi Alex
I will have a look
Thanks

Thanks for your reply
For your reports to your clients how do you display them to your client. Via PDF? Is it branded?
Are you able to give an example for SEO services and how you would charge?
Thanks again

Hi Paul,
Here is an answer to your question.
When you started your SEO Business what software do you use to give information to your clients?
[A] Web ranking reports, Crawling Issue reports, Analytics Reports, Link Reports, Custom detailed reports with analysis
How did you decide what to charge for your services?
[A] Really depends on the type of service that you offer to your customers.
What services do you offer?
[A] SEO, PPC management, Social & Mobile campaigns. We predominantly work without giving packages to clients.
Best tools to use?
[A] If you are just starting i would recommend the following ones:
- WebCeo - for on-page analysis
- Advanced Web ranking - for web ranking reports
- MajesticSEO - for link analysis
- Seomoz tools for crawling issues and links
- Google Analytics - of course can't move forward without this one
- Basecamp - for project management and communication with your customers.
Any other information you think might be relevant?
[A] Be innovative and don't be afraid to explore different tools all the time.

Auto-generated, weird, long URLs? Or possible hacking? Help needed.
Good afternoon, Moz. My team and I are a bit stumped. We are getting ready to send out reporting and discovered that we are getting hits on a few very odd landing pages. We build our websites and we never made this URL: https://eaglehearing.com/Home/gclid/ EAIaIQobChMIo_K0t8T_3QIVg81kCh1NQAKIEAEYASAAEgJajfD_BwE There are around 7-10 variations on these weird URLs pulling up in our reports for two different clients now. Do you think we got hacked?

What Keeps In-House SEOs Up @ Night
We are writing a research summary piece on in-house seo strategies. We're not trying to solve the worlds problems - we simply want to know what problems you face and how you try and solve them. We've broken our research into three key areas (training, value, and measurement). We would greatly appreciate your insights, thoughts, and recommendations. We will share our final paper (with sources) when completed. Here are the questions we're asking: How do you train and support your seo team? How do you show SEO value in the wake of Google algo changes including (keyword not provided)? How can SEO show value to other parts of the organization including market research, product managers, channel managers, etc? What should you be measuring and who should reports go to? Best SEO way to implement multi language store
Hi, I have a magento 1.7 multilanguage store with the following structure: www.example.com/nl and www.example.com (Dutch) www.example.com/uk (English) www.example.com/de (German) As you can see the dutch language basically has two url and this gives problems according to Roger. Both urls show the same page and therefor duplicate content. Should i 301 www.example.com to www.example.com/nl ?

And would this not cause problems with the indexing because www.example.com is shown when searching for my keywords. I need to have all three languages to be indexed good and used only for the correct countries.0 -
Ideal SEO / Social Media Employee Skillset
I’ve been wondering recently what makes a good SEO / Social Media employee. It seems to me that SEO and Social Media are in the process of merging into a single role. What are your thoughts on the skills that this new world SEO / Social Media employee would need? Or do you think these roles should ideally remain separate and that a “traditional” SEO is more what is needed? My own role has been moving much more towards social media recently and I was wondering if this was a common trend!

Looking for Freelance SEO'ers
Hi, I wouldn't normally post a request for freelancers here, but I noticed someone else has done it and its not against the rules! so here goes... We are looking for Freelancers to help with our work load. In particular we are searching for Link Builders who can establish links on various websites through the use of article writing/blog content posting and other methods. Also, we require general SEOs who can perform the usual technical tasks such as creating 301's, canonicals and SEO audit reports on client websites. Ideally we only want UK based, white hatters with at least 2 years SEO experience. Please pm me if this interests you. Thanks Aran

Anyone used an SEO company they are happy with and would recommend to others?
I have been researching SEO companies. Some are not willing to provide references, while others have references with lukewarm recommendations. Any e-commerce owners/managers here that have used an SEO company that they would recommend? I am about to give up and stick to doing it in-house!

Is it OK to discuss SEO for an adult site?
Hey guys, I run a few big tube sites and sales pages that contain adult material. I'm also new to these forums, so before I do anything that might be considered rude or innapropriate, I wanted to know what the stance was on asking for advice related to the SEO of my adult sites and/or posting links. I've read the Etiquette disclaimer, however, I don't actually intend to post images or anything of the sort, only ask for your opinions and preferred strategies. If its completely frowned upon, then I completely understand and will never bring the subject back up again. Cheers and Happy to be amongst you all!

Help on implementing schema.org in our hotel website
Hi, We came across with this schema.org and we decide that it will be helpful in our website if we can implement it properly. But somehow reading through the documents still makes us confused on how to use it. Can anybody show me how to use it? For example in our homepage www.florahospitality.com I can use the itemType Local business on the content but I can also use the itemType Hotel on the Hotel Listing dropdown. Is it advisable the two type at the same time?
