Proper Landing Pages for PPC ads
-
One of our sites is for a local Promotional Products company that focuses on local big businesses to set up accounts with. We are trying to grow our customer base with this site through use of a PPC campaign, but are unsure of where to send them. We were thinking about a page with content about what we do and our contact information, or putting together videos with this information to send them to. Does anyone have any advice for a killer landing page that not only is good for getting conversions for promotional products through PPC, but also could get us organic traffic? Thanks in advance for the help!

Depending upon what products and services you are selling a video might work well. I expect that it would be better for services where the potential client gets in touch with you by phone. The video would give them an opportunity to learn about you before calling.
If it was shopping cart transactions I would definitely land them on the product page with a buy button.
However, the video might work well. If you don't try it you never find out.
One thing that they say about trying something that is very different.... that is how you kick things up an order of magnitude or learn what does not work.
Good luck.

Great answer as always EGOL, thanks for the help. That's the general consensus of our group as well, but we were throwing around the idea of creating one great video or landing page that showcases all of our services. In this case, we were thinking about directing all of the PPC traffic to that page which would contain links to other, more specific landing pages. I understand that may hurt the quality score of our ads and all of the traffic would not be super targeted in that case. We really want to go all out on one great video or landing page though. Down the road then, we could make other more specific and equally as great pages. Would you consider that an option, or do you think it's necessary to make multiple great and specific landing pages now?

Most of the time... at least for me... the keywords reveal the intent of the visitor.
-
If the keyword is a product/service name that person might be a buyer and I would want to land them on the exact page for that product/service.
-
If the keyword is your brand then I would land them on the homepage.
-
If the keyword is something else then I can probably protect my budget by not bidding on it.
-
And, as you describe, if your focus is on local big business, I would be calling on them by phone or in person instead of using PPC.

Adwords landing pages with no site links
Adwords best practices say to focus landing pages on conversions, with no navigational links to the rest of your website so they don't get distracted. However, now that Google Ads in the SERPs look so similar to organic results, visitors may click the ads instead of the organic result because that's what they see first. What is the risk of turning off these visitors who come to a landing page with a form, instead of a way to navigate through the rest of your site? Discussion question: Trade-offs between a form-focused landing page and providing navigation to the rest of the site?

Any PPC Companies out there who can work with small accounts
I have a story , 18 months ago we had our own PPC adwords account, we had been running at £3.20 CPA for quite some time and we were very happy. Sometimes CPA would go up , sometimes down, but not my very much. One unfortunate day google rang, and told us , that our CPA should ne £2.50 and that we needed expert advice that they couldn't actually give us, we needed an expert. To cut a long story short and after 5 very expert companies have messed with our account, we had varying results. One company left us with 2 leads per day at £10 a lead !!!! , one did better than that and setup a £3k adwords account using their expert advice, blew it all and said "times are tough" sorry !!! The last company was actually the best, great guy , but I think we are two small for him, we have varying results, one day we get 30 leads, the next we get 10 , one day its £3.50 CPA , next its £7.00 . But on the whole very happy with his initial work We just want a company that doesn't Lie to us , tells us straight , and can use their expertise to get us a CPA of £3.50 and help us get upto 50 leads a day, if not more. Thanks Hope that makes sense Nick

Landing Pages
My question is with regards to my Adwords campaign. Is it best practice to have the user, or potential customers, land on a single page landing page or to an actual website? Does a single page landing page, with no other links, help with conversion? i would be greatful for any opionion.

Anyone have problems with over reporting from PPC?
Hi All, Hoping somebody can help me out with this...I am getting a lot of slack from my boss over this. So we use Marketo for landing page creation. I create unique landing pages for PPC so that people who come in via ppc are the only people that see these landing pages. I put the google adwords conversion code on the thank you pages of these pages. So User sees PPC add > clicks add and gets sent to a registration page > fills out reg page and gets sent to thank you page that contains conversion code. When I look in adwords, I am seeing that for this specific campaign that I had 15 conversions yesterday...in marketo I am seeing 0 conversions. I do not know which one to believe. Anyone have any ideas? Pat

Keeping pages indexed but making sure they fill out a form before access - confusing Q's
OK so let me break down this little scenario we have going on. I work for a b2b company so we have a lot of gated content that is behind a form fill out - this is how we get a lot of our lead generation. Some pages that we have behind the form are showing up in search which allows people to view the documents bypassing the form. At first I thought, well why dont we just no index that page so that it does not appear in search. But then I thought it would be smart to keep the pages indexed to keep the SEO value, Is there a way to keep these pages indexed but make sure that when they click the link in the SERPS that they need to fill out the form in order to gain access to the document? Something on the backend that checks to make sure that the referral URL was completed or something like that? Anybody deal with this before?

Landing Page Conversion Rates
I had a client claiming his industry (replacement home windows) conversion rate was around 15% based on his research. In my research i could find nothing of the sort, and really couldn't find a single place that provided this type of information. Anyone out there have some advice on where to research industry conversion rates (averages) or tools/thought processes to explore? Thanks! (these stats would primarily be used for goal setting and competitive analysis)
