Does the homepage of GetSatisfaction have very good on-page SEO? please give some critique
-
Hi Mozzerz,
If you have done successful on-page SEO optimization in the past, this may be easy for you to analyze quickly. (especially if you have some tools to help you compare things like keywords vs code weight etc)
Does the homepage of www.GetSatisfaction.com constitute a well done on-page SEO?
Could you please critique the homepage's SEO value and say why it is very good or why it is OK, or why it is bad.

Ryan nails all of the basic issues, so I will just add something: When I went to the site, having never heard of GetSatisfaction.com, for whatever reason my eyes went to kiddiecare and Pampers logos first. I immediately thought it was some type of aggregator of children's items for moms. Then, I was drawn to Start A Community today. Soooo, what Ryan says is correct regarding "no clear message."
Given your client list and your DA and PA, you seem to have something to sell, but I don't think many people would know what that is from visiting the site. Ignoring the slider, the three buttons below are: Get Satisfaction for Facebook, The Age of the Customer, and Sometimes Size Does Matter. With everything on the page, you may be trying to give too many messages. I would clean it up to one or two coherent ideas and then use menu tabs and internal links to bring in the rest.
Hope this helps,

Does the homepage of www.GetSatisfaction.com constitute a well done on-page SEO?
This type of question is difficult to answer without knowing the client's requirements. What I can share is there are element of good SEO along with numerous opportunities for improvement.
A sample of opportunities to improve:
-
Use the canonical tag. The following URL offers the same home page with a 200 header code which leads to duplicate content. This duplication should be eliminated and a canonical tag provided. http://getsatisfaction.com/index.html
-
Reduce external links. The home page offers 66 internal links and 56 external links. The ratio of external links is too high. One issue is the site uses many subdomains which I would recommend merging in to the main site.
-
There is no H1 tag
-
The alt tags don't really help
-
There is no clear message. At no point on the home page does the company share "Get Satisfaction provides Online Community Software which enables brand owners to engage in targeted conversations with their customers...." Instead there are vague descriptions such as "Give a voice to brand champions", "63k companies trust Get Satisfaction", etc.
A few things they do well:
-
Clear Call-To-Action with a "Free Trial", "Contact Us" and "Tour" button prominently displayed
-
clean URLs for main site
-
social engagement offered
In summary, there are several things I would like to change, but with a PA of 93 and DA of 92, the site is clearly performing well.

Tags - Good or bad for SEO
We are getting Moz errors for duplicate content because tag pages share the same blog posts. Is there any way to fix this? Are these errors bad for SEO, or can I simply disregard these and ignore them? We are also getting Moz errors for missing descriptions on tag pages. I am unsure how to fix these errors, as we do not actually have pages for these on our WordPress site where we are able to put in a description. I have heard that having tags can be good for SEO? (We don't mind having several links that show up when searching for us on google...) As far as the SEO goes, I am not sure what to do. Does anyone know the best strategy?

What's better for SEO a page per review or a page with all reviews?
Was wondering what's better for SEO. We have a platform where consumers can read and write reviews. But the question is: is it better to give one page per company with all the reviews on it? Or should we have different pages for the specific company? Example: Itunes has a company page with all reviews on the page, but not the whole review. You have to click further to view the whole review (new page), at the moment this the current situation. What if we place the whole reviews on the company page, so you don't have specific pages for the reviews? Hopefully can someone help us out. Contact me if it's not clear or you want more extended information. Kind regards

On-page SEO reviews
Hi everyone 🙂 I was hoping someone could point me in a direction on where I could get my website's on-page SEO a review with recommendations. Title tags, meta description, code, H1s, content and so on... I know you can find most of what I'm asking online, but I would like a professional with a new set of eyes to help out. Thanks in advance for your time in helping!

Is On Page SEO Dead?
Hey Guys, Search Engine Roundtable has published a short post about this a few days ago, quoting senior member at WebmasterWorld forums who said: "The way I see it, on-page text today is for the "relevance" part of the total algorithm. The whole algorithm is, in broad strokes, "relevance + connectedness + quality". After you've clearly stated the relevance of the page, then the rest of your ranking power comes from elsewhere. I've added on-page bold tags with no effect. I've added or changed h1 elements with no effect. Not too long ago, those might well have done something, but that's not the game anymore. And moving from a table layout to a CSS-P layout today might get you nowhere, too. It all depends how deeply complicated the table layout was, I think." http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/4408395.htm Is it true? Is on-page SEO really dead? What do you think?

A long time ago I created a forum (Invision Power Board) and it got full of spam. Massive amounts! /forum/ I've now deleted the forum but the spam pages are still indexed on Google. Can I do something else to hurry up the process to get ride of them?
