Which Article Directories are still relevant?
-
Hi,
I know Article Directories are not valued as high as they once were and many took a hit from Google. But are there any Article Directories that are still worth posting content on?
Thanks!

Finding relevant article directories is very easy. Simply go to Google and search your keyword + articles. For example, if your niche is widgets, search widget articles in Google and see what comes up.
What you will find are generally sites that contain articles related to your niche. Google obviously values these sites if they are ranking them so highly.
You will usually find a bunch of sites that don't accept just any author and that's fine. Some you will find you can apply or register to become an author. There you can produce an article to be published.
Just some tips though, always include internal links in your article. So few article directories do this and that's why articles get dinged. Find some relevant articles on the domain to link to. Also, link out externally to more than just your website. That makes for a good article with natural links, one of them being to you.
I wouldn't spend too much time on this, but if you could find a relevant article site each week and get a decent article posted on it, that's pretty good.

Hi Tony,
In my personal opinion, no. The benefit gained from article marketing directories are minimal anyway, and they just put you on potentially dodgy ground for the future. Instead of investing time and effort producing fairly low quality content for these kind of platforms, spend your time producing high quality, unique content and promoting it, and allow that to do the link-building for you.
The content marketing strategy will not only ensure that you have something of real value on your site, but it is a much more viable long-term strategy and far more secured against future algorithm updates.
I understand the temptation to opt for the easier link-building routes, but honestly you're far better served putting in the effort and producing something of real value and quality and using that as a conduit for link acquisition. I would always rather gain one strong, relevant and valuable link than gain a hundred low quality links with questionable relevancy.
If you need a hand getting started with content production, link-building and content promotion, I'd give these posts a read:

Hope that helps answer your question Tony - of course it's just my opinion, but it's the approach we use for our clients and we consistently see good results, so hopefully you can do the same for your website.

Is commenting on other peoples blogs / articles good for seo?
Hello everyone, Just a quick question, say if I find some websites which are relevant to my service and they have articles I can comment on and include my URL , will these help for SEO? The websites also have a good PR rating higher than 3 does this count towards anything? Would these links be classed 'follow' or 'nofollow' links - could something please explain what this means aswell. Thanks very much!

Are site profile links from sites like Quantcast still a Google friendly quick win?
I heard one of the speakers from Link Love suggest getting an easy high PR link from Quantcast.by creating a site profile page. What is everyone's opinion on the value of this type of link when blended with other types of link building activity. Low, Moderate? What is the best way to find these types of link profile opportunities? Any one have a good list?

Are reputable local directories effective link building resources for high rankings in local search?
I'm working on a local search campaign. Generally, the first thing I do is add the site to all of the local directories that I know of. I'm curious, with penguin updates, whether or not this is still an effective strategy for local search.

Link velocity - still a significant ranking factor?
We have recently taken over the SEO for a site which had a pretty poor back link profile, lots of comment links, directories etc. Although the quality of the link was very questionable, the previous SEO were maintaining a decent link velocity. Obviously I have no intention of carrying on with spammy crap links, and am looking to build some good fresh content. This will obviously slow down the link velocity quite considerably, is that in itself likely to hurt SERPs? Thanks in advance

My Yahoo Directory listing isn't being indexed by Google - what do to?
I couldn't find this elsewhere in Q&A...so here goes. I recently (a couple of months back) shelled out $300 for a Yahoo Directory listing. My site got included, but my PageRank didn't budge. Figuring it may take a while, I kept on checking Google's index for the link - still nothing. Now it seems as if some Yahoo & other directory categories are excluded from the Google Index, rendering the links useless from a PR point of view. Anything I can do about this? I've heard of suggestions like linking to the specific page of the category where I'm listed, in the hope Google will crawl and re-index, but I don't know. Any thoughts / suggestions? BTW the directory category link is: http://dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Economy/Business_to_Business/Communications_and_Networking/Telecommunications/Wireless/Software. Thanks in advance...

Ezine articles - worth it with a PA of 1?
If I write an article on Ezine Articles, it has a page authority of 1. I guess this is to be expected until that page is crawled, but is it actually worth writing these articles? Does the DA 'count' for anything here? Can I ever expect the PA to increase? (unless I build links to the article - in which case I may as well spend that time building links to my site)

Linkbuilding - Suspicious? Seems like they still help!
I know we should be careful of suspicious links, and that google may davalue them or even penalize, especiallysince the latest update. It seems though, however it really hasnt caught up to alot of them yet. And alot of competition is still benefitting from what seems like all garbage links in their backlink profile So could someone give their opinion about links form pages like this, assuming it is a mix of this along with other "better" types of links? http://www.bmxplusmag.com/index.php/member/4817/ See the bio at the bottom. "At least" it is within copy, and only one link to the page? (Please do not reply with a simple "be careful" message) Also, does anyone have any update, on the benefit of TextLinkAds, since the recent algo update? Thanks Sam
